I purchased Koala, the grey one. Eyeliner Stylo is also available in brown, black, and dark cobalt blue. I wanted Koala because I thought it would look great with the Vent Glacé eye shadow duo that I love. Now that I have it, I love the color - with any shadow.
Here are a few swatch photos, taken in full sun. I drew a line from thick to thin - not on purpose, it happened that way. I'm delighted to report that Eyeliner Stylo can be used to "design" a very thin line with ease. It's also easy to apply using the "Loyd Cassler" technique. I love it! Now, I'm going to order the beautiful blue Atlantic.
Isn't this a nice grey? It's not too dark and not too light. I can see that it's grey, not black. It is extremely long-lasting and must be removed with a long-wear makeup or eye makeup remover with oil.
NARS didn't promise much, but he delivered as promised and then some. If you are in the market for a new eyeliner, this one is a great choice. I purchased mine online at NARS. You can also find Eyeliner Stylo at Nordstrom and Sephora.

You have no idea how deep my love affair with NARS is. They have the best colors, the best shades and are greatly overlooked (which is so sad). So, I'll definitely head on over to pick up this eyeliner. Especially if it's as good as you say it is. (And I'm sure it is because all of NARS' products are fantastic.
I'm not sure if I can master the Loyd Cassler technique anytime soon though. I just perfected my cat eye look. So, the under the lash thing may be too much for me to handle. LOL!
All the best,
Ashley GaGa
Hi Charlestongirl!
I'm back after one week in Brittany as I told on on the 6th! We had a lovely sunny week and I've been reading your posts since last evening!
This Nars eyeliner looks great, I love those dark greys which are softer than pure black: Shiseido has one similar which I use at present and it's lovely! I'll try this one when it's finished!
Thanks for introducing the Japones brand TATCHA which looks superb: I hope they'll decide to conquer Europe soon:-)
I got "attacked" by a Nars counter artist last night and one of the 40 things he smeared poorly and wildly all over my face, was the blue atlantic version. You almost cannot tell it's navy, it's ALMOST black, and in a good way.
So happy that this looks like a more reasonably priced version of lmdb's Felt tip liner which I love. Physicians formula eye booster liner us also great - you might really like it, cg, since you like a fine line. And it's quite inexpensive!!!:)
I was probably one of the few people that didn't mind the old version of this in black, but the re-formulation and design makes it a HG for me.
I have been wearing Atlantic (the navy one) non stop for a week, with Vent Glace (and lining my waterline with Kalliste, a teal pencil) and it is love love love.
I bought the brown version also, and when my ByTerry black pen liner dies, I will get the new NARS one.
To echo Ashley GaGa, my love for NARS is epic. :) (not blind, but epic)
That is a lovely gray. Although my eyelashes are black, I shelved the notion of using black liner all the time years ago. As for Loyd's technique, it's a wonderful way of emphasizing eyelashes and defining eye shape without any obvious line. It's so refined and it doesn't make the eye appear smaller the way heavily lining the upper and lower waterlines does. Since having several national/celebrity MA's use that technique on me, I've thoroughly embraced it :-) By the way, the fantastic little slant brush that comes with Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadows is great for the task. It's very fine and soft so it gets the liner right up into the lashes without irritating the delicate skin.
Hi Ashley,
Even if you are sporting a cat eye, try working a bit of liner into the lashes from underneath. It will beautifully define your eye shape and enhance that gorgeous cat eye of yours.
Hi Clarisse,
I was in Brittany just three weeks ago! I was visiting some family before going over to London for the Olympics. Brittany's such a lovely area.
Give it a try, Ashley. It's easier than it sounds. Just pull up your eyelid gently and dot the liner between the lashes right at the lash line.
Hi Clarisse,
Oh, so jealous! The photos of Brittany I've seen are amazing.
This one's definitely worth a try. Let me know if you can't find it.
LOL, Ame! That counter artist was trying desperately to make a sale. Overkill, huh?
I must try Atlantic!
Hi Katie,
Thanks for the drugstore tip!
Hi DJ!
Epic! I love that word.
Hi Eileen,
I think everyone can wear grey. I use black, but when I do, it's using the application from beneath technique. It's so much kinder to my face. :)
I stopped wearing liquid liner for a long time because I thought it looked too harsh, but now I'm thinking "duh--why didn't I think to tightline with a liquid liner?!?". I've been using a cream liner and it takes a lot of work to "stamp" it underneath my lashes with a flat eyeliner brush. I think a liquid liner pen would be much easier
How do you think this compares to LMdB's Liquid Liner? Also, do you think this could be used for eyebrows since it is so long wearing? (Although this beautiful grey color might be too dark, even for one with dark hair.)
Oooh, I might just have to pick this one up!!!! And I too would be curious as to how it compared to the LMdB liner.
As always, thank you so much for a wonderful and lust inducing review CG :)
I mean, I was GOING to buy a couple things anyway but he did very little to convince me to buy more than already planned!
Hi Becca,
Try it!
Hi Anonymous,
About the same performance-wise.
I have not tried it on my brows. Grey would not work at all. Most of the shades might be too pigmented for brows, where it's really important to go easy.
Thanks, Neo!
I'm giggling, Ame.
