Regardless, it's very clear to me that I will not see it this week. I had so many cool things to show you this week, I'm disappointed I must wait. At least we can have a Friday Forum! The Friday Forum has always been an opportunity to share information. Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Tell us about it! Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Tell us why! Do you have questions others might be able to answer? We can help! Want to talk about skin care? I'm game. Just use the comments. We have busy weekends and slow ones on the forum. I hope to see you in the comments.

I enjoyed reading Nemo's description of her adventures with Chanel's Candeur et Expérience in the previous "Pause in Publishing" post; especially since she's been applying it in a different fashion than I have and yet she seems just as enamored of it as I am :-) I've worn C et E several times now and have really been enjoying it. Although it is very autumnal in appearance, it actually works well for summer, too, if applied with restraint and a light hand. I've been pairing it with a light application of my Marc Jacobs Kink & Kisses blusher and slick of Rouge G in Georgia. Once the weather cools done, though, I'll be applying it with greater depth and using a deeper, richer lip shade so that it is more evocative of cool autumn days, hot spiced apple cider, a crackling fire--everything I love about the season.
The weather here has been particularly hot and arid just lately (triple digits) and so chapped lips are a constant threat. Consequently, I've been really appreciating the conditioning benefits of YSL's Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipstick (Could the name be any longer?!?). I was not a fan of the YSL lip oil, but when the oil-in-stick was released, I bought Rose Rive Gauche and quickly came to love the formula. Since then I've added a few other colors. The formula is very slick and it does require frequent application to keep the color going, but it leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth and so I don't mind the upkeep.
That's about it for me. I'm sure you other ladies have some interesting products to share.
Have a great weekend and if you live in So Cal, take it easy, stay hydrated, and chill! :-)
Hello Everyone! I have more happy CHANEL news for Eileen & the rest of you! I hate cream eye shadows but that does not mean I do not buy them, fool that I am. With the CHANEL Le Rouge Collection Numero Uno, I bought the Rouge Contraste, the darker of the two cream shadows. Today I tried it, using only my fingers. It is beautiful! I'm not going anywhere today because it's too hot, but my eyes are beautiful thanks to that slick of cream shadow. Now I am getting the other one, too, plus--and there's always a plus, isn't there?--the CHANEL No. 5 hair spray! I think that sounds so lovely & feminine!!! I must have it!!!! Anyway, I am enjoying this new Le Rouge collection more than any other, ever. I am very impressed with Ms. Pica. Lucia Pica, CHANEL should keepa.
Nemo and Eileen, you are killing me! I keep telling myself that I don't need another Chanel quad, lipstick, eyeliner and then I cave when I read your glowing reviews. Chanel discontinued my favorite Illusion d'Ombre - Eblouie, a complex brownish maroon and Stylo Yeux eyeliner in Maron Glacé, so it didnt take much prompting when I saw both of you giving high marks to the new Le Rouge collection, as well as the "test drive" photo posted by CG. I too am a "senior" and trust the good taste of all three of you. So far, I've only ordered the C & E quad, afraid it will sell out quickly. I'm planning to purchase the Subversif mascara and Agape eye liner, but will wait until the collection is available at Nordies so I can use my Nordstrom notes. Stay cool this weekend ladies!
Hello ladies, for those who haven't tried a Clarins Joli Rouge Brillant lipstick yet, I can highly recommand it. I got me the colour "hibiscus", a warm pink, leaning slightly to the blue side. It hydrates the lips, the texture is creamy, it gives the lips a nice shine (no sparkles or glimmer). It has a smell, at least the hibiscus smells of rasperries. I'd prefer it without the smell, but making my lips shine and not drying them out is so nice, I can live with the rasperries. I am alternatingly wearing this one or the rouge coco shine "bonheur", a berry tone, long time favorite of mine.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Hi Anonymous,
Based on the shades you mentioned, I think you'll like the C et E quad (Marron Glacé was one of my fave's :-) ) It has a lovely matte finish that looks smooth and satiny rather than dry and chalky. That's a huge plus for us seniors. Enjoy!
Today, I purchased the Chanel fall quad, which I will apply with a light hand, the blush, and the nude lipstick. If it weren't 97 degrees at 6:30 pm, I'd go outside and take photos.
I'm supposed to get a new computer back on Monday.
I have one of those YSL lipsticks, Eileen. I'll have to get photos. I can't remember the shade name.
Hi Charlestongirl,
Since you're a lip gloss kind of gal, I figured you had probably already tried the oil-in-stick. I originally bought Rose Rive Gauche (#43) which is a pretty peachy rose shade. I then went back and added Corail À Porter (#41) and Rose St. Germaine (#49). Despite coral being featured in the name of #41, on my lips it is actually a soft, warm pink with just a touch of coral. That's probably because my natural rose lip color shows through. As for #49, it's a cool rose; not as "blue" as let's say a fuchsia, but definitely on the cool side. They're pretty colors and I don't. Kind having to reapply frequently in the least. I think of them as beautiful lips balms :-)
By the way, I received my Marc Jacobs Lush & Libido---love!
Ingrid, that sounds beautiful! I'll have to check it out, either at Nordies or Bloomies.
Anonymous, the nice thing about the new Chanel quad and blusher is that they can be applied with a light hand. Yesterday, I played with the three brown eye shadows and found them all amenable to a very light application. Nicki at NM applied the blush to my cheeks, and it looked great. Red! Who would have thought?
Ingrid, I couldn't wait, so I checked it out on the Clarins Web site. It looks gorgeous! Sheer and shiny are my favorite lipstick qualities. Hibiscus is a beautiful shade. Unfortunately, now I want about five of them. Sigh!
Hi Charleston Girl! I'm going to also purchase the new nude lipstick, like you did, from Chane's Fall Collection. I am also a gloss girl! Could you please suggest a gloss that you would use with the lipstick? Thank you very much!! Xoxo. p.s. I don't see much talk about Clarins but, I also agree that their lip colors are lovely both in terms of formula and color! 💋💄💕
