The Friday Forum - December 3

When the hollies bloom (with pretty red berries), the birds feast. One of my holly trees, a large Foster Holly, has already been stripped bare of its berries. A flock of robins finished them off in two days. There are berries left on the other hollies, and they are a favorite of the cardinals. It won't be as pretty here when all the berries have been eaten, but I'll be happy that the birds are well-fed. Plant hollies! They are decorative plants, but more importantly, they produce bird food when the weather turns cold and the birds need help staying warm.

Yesterday was an exciting day when I got home from work. There were boxes galore at my doorstep! My latest Edward Bess goodies came from Bergdorf Goodman, and I have many new things to show you. My Clarins Barocco Collection arrived - and I'm eager to wear and swatch that too. There was also a Lancome box with the items I ordered from the L'Wren Scott collection. I can't wait for daylight to start getting photos! I'll be wearing Edward Bess to work today. Oh happy day!

There are so many local beauty events coming up. I have started to tell you about them, and I have many more to feature for those who live near me. I do want you to know that Tia Hebron from Bobbi Brown will be at Neiman Marcus at Mazza Gallerie next Friday, all day on December 10 during In Circle. If you want to make an appointment, call Rachel Lagman (or any of the fabulous Bobbi Brown Product Specialists) at (202) 966-9700, extension 2265. Tia is so incredibly talented, you won't want to miss her special appearance if you live near DC.

Speaking of Neiman Marcus Mazza Galleria, look at the fabulous prize BTiB reader Gabriela won recently. She mentioned Best Things in Beauty, and she won these incredible fragrance gifts! If you are near DC, don't miss the upcoming events at Neiman Marcus. I have more don't-miss events to share. I'll tell you about them this weekend.

Will I see you Saturday at Alex Chantecaille's appearance at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria? Remember if you mention Best Things in Beauty when you purchase anything from Chantecaille (check out the contest at this link), you'll be entered in a drawing to win Les Mararons Face Palette. I'm working to find out if the "purchase two-gifts, get free shipping" rule will apply for your Chantecaille purchases, in case any of you want to call in an order to be entered in the drawing. I will update this post when I get firm information.

It's time for The Friday Forum. We use the forum to share information and chat. Did you find any deals you couldn't resist last weekend (I did!)? Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Do you have a question others might be able to answer? Want to talk about skin care? Just use the comments. Don't be shy. Just make sure to ask any question you might have over the weekend. By Monday, most readers have moved on.

We have busy weekends and slow ones on the forum. I'm always happy if even one reader stops by. Leave a comment, and say hello - even if you don't want to comment on beauty products. As I always do, I'll leave news of some great beauty offers (great, not just good) in the comments of this post. If you want to know where to find nice gifts with purchase, free shipping, and other deals this weekend, make sure to check the comments.

Thanks for reading Best Things in Beauty! Got anything you want to talk about?

  2. Nice special indeed! I love Eyes to Kill. It's a great mascara. I think I've spent a fortune on Armani makeup, and I love all of it. :)

  3. Just a quick note before I dash to the train to meet a friend.

Sephora VIB's should have received either an e-mail gift card or gift card in the mail that entitles the VIB to $20 off a minimum $40 purchase. The offer is good through Dec. 13. That's a great offer and I'm sure we all still have some purchases to make :-)

  5. Have been trying the new Sebastian Re-Shaper Hairspray and NOT liking it at $16.50 a pop mainly because the third listed ingredient is WATER and it in no way compares to the tried and true regular Sebastian Shaper which lists water as its 13th ingredient. I think they are trying to push this stuff based on the Sebastian name which really is a disapointment. It simply does not do the job.

  6. That's interesting, Pam. I didn't like it either, but not because of the ingredients. I simply found it "unremarkable."

  7. I like a lot Estee Lauder's eye shadow in Black Crystals, I bought it recently and it does work miracles for a nice looking smokey eye.

    Have a nice weekend! :)
