Le Métier de Beauté True Color Eye Shadow in Innocence and Rose Champagne

It has started to be an insider joke! Every time I go to the Le Métier de Beauté counter, I buy a few more True Color Eye Shadows ($30), hoping to own them all some day! I'm on a mission.

On my last foray, I bought Innocence and Rose Champagne, both base or highlighting shades. I realized that I would need a photo of them after I used them, so I apologize for the streaks from heavy use of Rose Champagne on the right above. Both shadows have shimmery finishes - the kind of perfect shimmer that Le Métier de Beauté shadows offer, with their refined pearl-like texture, great creamy coverage, and maximum sheen (no glitter with these lovelies).

Innocence is a new shade - one that I've read is a re-introduction of Innocence in its former life. It's paler now. Innocence is a very light skin-toned color (on my skin). Rose Champagne may be the perfect pink. Pink shadows are hard for me to wear. If they are too pink, they bring out any redness I might have in my eyes (or skin). Rose Champagne doesn't do that.

I knew that a swatch photo was going to be a wash-out, and this one's close to terrible. I applied both shadows fairly heavily, using a sponge-tipped applicator, and I took the photo at right in full morning sun. Rose Champagne, at the top, has a little more pigment than Innocence, and you can see it a little better on my arm. It's clearly a shimmery pink. Innocence is very hard to see below it. The shade almost matches my skin, so what you see in the photo is the shimmer only. The pigment almost disappears on my arm. On my eyelids, though, it evens my eyelid skin tone, adds some shimmer to make my eyes pop, and works as the perfect base for a darker accent shade. If I want a nude-to-peach effect, I wear Innocence; if I want a pink tone, I wear Rose Champagne. Nice! Don't forget how pretty pink looks with browns.

I think both shades are perfect base shadow shades for anyone except my chocolate-skinned friends. On them, these shades would be highlighters.

Le Métier de Beauté's True Color Eye Shadows are all available in small round compacts, each with a mirror. They do not come with useless little brushes or sponge-tipped applicators. No self-respecting makeup addict would use those things anyhow.

If you are interested in purchasing a few True Color Eye Shadow shades, now's the time! In Circle just started at Neiman Marcus, and there are gifts with purchase galore in the beauty department. I shared the Le Métier de Beauté GWP last week. It's a preview of Le Metier de Beaute Volumizing Mascara - the perfect touch to finish your eyes after you apply your True Color Eye Shadows.

Even better, the new holiday color collection just arrived, including Peau Vierge Lash Growth Serum ($95), which I haven't had a chance to test, and the MARCHESA holiday goodies we've been eagerly awaiting. I hear that Le Métier de Beauté believes that holiday happens in December, not October. I agree!

Le Métier de Beauté is available at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Nordstrom (online). Are there a few shades in your future? If you would like to see more, just use the "Search This Blog" box on the right sidebar and search on "Le Metier."

  1. I have the original Innocence which is hard to wear. I don't understand though why they'd create a new color and give it an old name. That doesn't make sense to me. Rose Champagne is one of my favorite shadows though so I hope they don't change that one.

  3. Rose Champagne looks wonderful, and that volumizing mascara is really intriguing after using anamorphic lash for about three weeks now. I can't wait to see all the holiday stuff! Have you heard anything about the winter Kaleidoscope?

  6. Hey there, Sparklehead, we can compete for the honor of being a LMdB groupie - don't you think it's a rather exclusive club?
