Chantecaille Summer in St. Barth's - 2011 Eye Look
There's no way I'll ever look as good as Olivia Chantecaille, but I set out to try to replicate her eye look, shown in Chantecaille's promotional photos for Summer in St. Barth's. I had most of the shades that were used to create the look, but I didn't have the Brown Le Stylo liner, so I headed over to Neiman Marcus to play with the fabulous Chantecaille Product Specialist, Alicia Cortes. Alicia is everything you would like in a Product Specialist - she knows her line really well and is great with colors/artistry. More about Alicia at the end of this feature.
Here's how to apply Chantecaille's Summer in St. Barth's look for your own eyes. I started with Concealer and Foundation Stick in Ivory. I had no makeup on - only eye cream - and I wanted to give the shadows a nice, even surface.
With the Basic Eye Brush, I applied the Iridescent Eye Shade in Rose Gold (a shade that will knock your socks off) on my eyelid from the base of the lashes to right above the crease. I should mention that I used a light hand for every shade I applied. Then, I applied Rose Quartz Shine Eye Shade under the brow bone. Using the Eye Definer Brush, I applied the Iridescent Eye Shade in Sel to the crease area, recreating the shadow of my lashes against my skin. Basically, I made a sideways V with Sel. I applied Sel a bit heavier on the outer corner than it appears in Olivia's photo. I applied a very thin line of Brown Le Stylo liner right above the base of my lashes and finished with black mascara. This is a look anyone will love.
Here are two swatch photos, with Rose Gold at the top of my arm, Rose Quartz in the middle, and Sel at the bottom. I applied the shadows with a sponge-tipped applicator for the swatch photos and took them in outdoor sunlight. How could you find prettier eye shadows?
I went home and admired Summer in St. Barth's. Even if I have quite a few years on Olivia Chantecaille, the look works for me, leaving an elegant, gleaming look that's perfect for day. If I had applied the shadows with a heavier hand, they would be just right for night.
You know I hate putting photos of myself on this blog. In this case, I'm making an exception to show you a photo of my eyes wearing the Summer in St. Barth's look. Don't look at my forehead wrinkles, please - or the fact that I had on no foundation! Focus on the gorgeous Chantecaille colors.
If you live anywhere around Washington, D.C., you'll want to attend Alicia's Chantecaille event on June 11 at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria with national makeup artist Eddie Hernandez. Call Kathy Shoreman at 703-761-1600, extension 3282, or Alicia to make an appointment. The event is during the Neiman Marcus Camp Gorgeous promotion, Sunday, June 5, through June 12. There will be a Chantecaille gift with purchase.

Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, ProductDoctor!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us your beautiful eye look!! I love seeing products in use and you are making me start wanting to try Chantecaille eyeshadows. I've managed to resist the urge thus far.
ReplyDeleteOh my, PerilouslyPale, Chantecaille makeup could not be more perfect. You must try!
ReplyDeleteLovely and very summery! (BTW, what wrinkles? "The spiritual eyesight improves as the physical eyesight declines." - Plato)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful look on you! And you have magnificent eyebrows. I have those eye colors, so I look forward to trying it out.
ReplyDeleteOh, they're there, Mama Val! I think I didn't wear all my skin care either when I zoomed over there. I was in a hurry, but wanted the look to be "exact" with Chantecaille's liner. Otherwise, I could have taken one of the hundreds of brown liners I have...:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Zuzu!
ReplyDeleteI have always had strong brows. Now that they are in style, I'm enjoying them.
Thank you for showing this look. I have all three shadows in my cart now, and I am trying to decide what else "needs" to go in there. Sel has been on my wishlist for a while now, and I wouldn't have thought to put it with the other 2 shadows. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBuy then, Kathy! You'll love them!
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember when I purchased Sel, but it's one of my favorites. Look at Basalt too. It's not lavender as it appears on the site. It's grey and gorgeous. Since it's featured on the Summer 2011 display, it's going to sell out.
Those are lovely colors on you, Charlestongirl. Rose Gold is one of those fantastic colors that looks right on so many different women. I like to use it blended into a base of Ginger which is a perfectly balance peach-pink shade. As for your brows, Zuzu got that right. They're magnificent. Their softly arched shape really opens up the eye area.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who isn't familiar with the types of looks that Chantecaille promotes, visit the website and click on "Looks" for a real treat. There are eight beauties to serve as inspiration.
Thanks, Eileen. I usually buy multiples of everything Chantcaille. The colors (and skin care) are fantastic. I love the company and its people too. One of the very best!
ReplyDeleteEven my friend and NM Kathy Shoreman was blown away when I showed her Rose Gold. I think it's one of those quiet shades - you won't know how amazing it is until you try it.
Really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ammie! Isn't Chantecaille wonderful?
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks so much for the lovely look break down, I don't have Rose Quartz, but do have Quartz from the Olivia palette, maybe I'll try the look with that! Rose gold and Sel are some of my favorites, and Meteorite!! And... hahahah I clearly love all my shadows! Btw I have had the pleasure of working with Eddie, he is fabulous!! He gave me one of my favorite makeovers ever! Tell him I said hi!! :)
ReplyDeleteI submit votes for Granite and Quartz eyeshadows. I love them all--it's hard to choose favorites. Every single color in the Olivia Palette is a total winner, including the blush. Chantecaille remains in my top 3 brands.
ReplyDeleteEileen thanks for reminding about the looks. It's been a while since I checked out that page.
I will tell him, Lakshmi! We'll have a connection the moment we meet. :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, Meteorite...so pretty!
Hey there, Zuzu!
ReplyDeleteThat page is always fun. I found the summer look in a PDF in a search right before it went up on the Web site. Only slight differences. :)
Oh how I love all the colors! You're right...it is hard to choose favorites. It's like selecting your favorite kid!
