Cartier Baiser Volé Eau de Parfum

Has anyone been able to try Cartier Baiser Volé Eau de Parfum ($100-$145)? Currently, it's a Nordstrom Anniversary exclusive, but it will be rolled out to most of the world in September. I could use your advice.

Read this description, provided by WWD and tell me how one can "imagine" the fragrant lily into being.

For Baiser Volé’s juice, Cartier in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent created a lily soliflore by imagining what the whole flower - including its leaves, petals, and pistil - could smell like.

“There is no lily oil or lily absolute,” said Laurent, who wanted to introduce a floral scent in Cartier’s fragrance collection. “But I didn’t want it to be the 1,001st floral floriental, and I didn’t want to add a new floral composition.” Instead, Laurent likened wearing Baiser Volé to having on a necklace of lilies.

Lilies are among my favorite flowers. Their divine fragrance can light up a room. Just thinking about them makes me want to wander over to my favorite florist and buy a few Stargazers, beautiful pink hybrids that I've grown in my garden the past. Their scent is so unmistakable, I'm not sure how one could re-invent it.

Baiser Volé, meaning "Stolen Kiss," is the expression of love according to Cartier. A story of pure passion told through the lily, a strikingly feminine and rare flower. Baiser Volé is a pure floral fragrance, reflecting all its perfection as it opens, fresh, floral, and powdery. It sounds like heaven in a bottle. I fear I'm going to "need" it, and with a mega-sized CREED purchase this month, I may end up in fragrance jail.

Should I or shouldn't I order it without a whiff? Surely one of you knows! Or, if you are headed to Nordstrom, please sample it and let me know. I'm turning the table on you.

  1. I just purchased this with the body lotion. I like it , but on me it is very light, minimum silage. Not a powerhouse lily fragrance...but very nice. I would definitely try before you buy. It does have a very interesting mix of lily parts, with a bit of green.

  3. I haven't smelled it yet, I think it's just out here or bound to be...I read that Mathilde Laurent decided on creating such a fragrance after asking a lot of men what their favorite fragrance was and getting the answer "the lily". So she decided to use eveything in the lily and it took her 2 years before achieving a result she liked and that men would love to smell on their lady ....I know my answer won't help you to decide, Charlestongirl but I guess that if you like the lily you should love this fragrance. As for me I don't know since i sometimes find the lily fragrance is "too much", I really need to go to my favorite Sephora and test it ...and let you know:-)

  4. Thanks, Clarisse!

I went up to my favorite florist today and bought lilies. They are scenting my bedroom now.

I think I'm going to cave and order this fragrance. :)

  5. So I am wearing this scent as we speak and being a fragrance specialist for Nordstrom, I must say very good quality. I am not a Cartier fan, as much as I love the Delices, I just can not get myself to wear it. But Cartier Baiser Vole is something different. You can just smell the richness in the fine quality of fragrance.

  6. Thank you, Nordstrom friend! I am sure I will buy it next week. Just sounds too enticing.

I will go find the notes first to make sure it doesn't contain patchouli.

  7. I bought this lovely scent ...... it is stunningly beautiful.
Soft, powdery .... and feminine ... with a touch of sophistication that only Cartier can contribute.

  8. Thank you! I am "this close" to ordering it online because I'm too lazy to fight the crowds at Nordstrom during a sale.

  9. I haven't sniffed this yet but will when I see it around. I love many, but certainly not all, Cartier frags. My advice? Don't buy blind! Wait til you can sniff it or wait for a split....interested? I'll keep you posted :-)

  11. Oh I bought it.
This is the first time I bought a perfume and feel like using it every single day of the week.

The smell is not strong or overpowering, but it lingers the whole day. I still can't forget the first day I used it, when the wind rushed through my body, I feel like my body just blossom with a fresh, lightly sweeten scent.

    Love Love Love it.

  12. I usually can't wear lily scents but this one is beautiful and not overpowering. I was surprised by it's longevity, I'd get a nice "light" whiff of myself throughout the day. It did have a touch of spice in the drydown which kept it interesting. It'd be fb worthy on me for sure.

  14. This is only the second different perfume I have worn in about 40 years. My sense of smell is highly active and I become really sick if smell keeps fogging up my nostrils. A very elegant lady once told me if you could continue to smell a fragrances long after applying it, you're wearing too much, that others can smell it long after the scent has faded for you. This one meets that criteria and I purchased a bottle shortly after being given a sample. This one is a keeper for me.

Nordstroms ships free, also these in a sparkle clutch bag and more than a dozen samples from mascara to facial care products and 2 other scents. My son offered to buy me this for Christmas but I couldn't wait that long, lol

  16. Its absolutely amazing! when you spray it on it smells like the stem and leaves, then morphs into the flower. Its my absolute favorite perfume and I get complements every time I wear it.

  17. I originally tried this fragrance from a tester I received in a gift bag from Saks. I LOVED it so much that I when my tester ran dry (can't remember the last time I did that) I went out and bought the fragrance. I love the way it smells, and everywhere I go people ask me what perfume I am wearing and love the way it smells -- not overpowering -- but lovely. Wish I was getting a cut of all the sales I am generating!

If you haven't yet, try this fragrance.

  18. I purchased this lovely floral scent for my daughter. After enjoying the soft lingering scent for 24 hours, I confiscated it for myself. It is exquisite. I'll give her the roll on that came with the package and see if she wants to obtain her own bottle. !! :)
