Weekend Stroll around the Internet

This is what it's doing just west of here. Seriously, it's snowing in October in Virginia! Worse than that, our driving rain may end later today as wet snow. I am not ready for this. I want to hole up with Charlie and stay warm and dry. What better time than to catch up with some of my favorite beauty bloggers?

The Non-Blonde gave us a peek at the NARS Hanamichi Kabuki Palette for holiday. It's gorgeous! I want it simply for its looks. We'll have to beg Gaia to show us swatches - soon.

Beauty Look Book reviewed the Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation. I wondered about it when I placed my D&G order, but I can't buy a new foundation online. I wish Saks would bring a counter to the DC area. Anyhow, Sabrina made me want it.

Do you like rose fragrances as much as I do? You must read all about Floris Snow Rose at Daly Beauty.

DiviDebbi is a star! We've known that for a long time, of course, but now our beauty bud has been featured on the cover of the Greenwich Time. Debbi is an inspiration!

You want to see something amazing? Go look at the way Fab over Forty transformed a 50+ woman with some makeup.

I see there's another Watt's Up fan out there. There's a great feature at Product Girl, another reason why you should buy Benefit's latest illuminator.

My Beauty, Bacon, Bunnies girlfriend took on the taboo subject of sex - in an acceptable way, of course - in the context of fragrance.

Blondy Candy and I share a passion of Guerlain's KissKiss Maxi Shine Lipsticks. You have to go see the pretty Baby Shine, even if it is discontinued. Guerlain, please bring back all our favorite KissKiss formulas!

This year, one of the fragrances that captured my attention was Ormonde Jayne's Woman. Lovethescents asked me (for months, I think!) why I hadn't tried it. She was right. I love it. Find out all about it at Eyeliner on a Cat, since I haven't had time to write a feature that does it justice (but I will).

London MakeUp Girl featured Chantecaille this week. Just go there. You'll see why. For another Chantecaille feature from this week, check out Product Doctor. Have I told you in the last few days how much I love Chantecaille?

Messy Wands is brave. She showed us how Dior's divine Rouge Dior Or Étoilé looks when worn alone. Then she used it to add some pop to an already-pretty red. Nice!

I was buried in work this week and missed all the commotion over at Olfactoria's Travels - until this morning. Settle in with your favorite drink and read all the comments.

I really wanted to see swatches of the new M·A·C Glitter & Ice Mineralize Shadows. The very two shades that lured me were featured at Beauty Black Book! I think they may be too glittery for me. What do you think?

I've been curious about KORRES' Quercetin & Oak "Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Eye Cream. Fruity Lashes satisfied my curiosity!

One more, then I really must go run some errands in the miserable, cold rain. The cuddle with Charlie must wait.

I still haven't purchased the latest Paul & Joe makeup colors, and Rouge Deluxe is already featuring spring! Now I'll skip fall and spring forward. The collection looks stunning and features those P&J darling kitties.

I hope you have a wonderful, snow-free weekend!

  2. I think I'd die. I heard the driving rain all night, and all I could think was...Thank God it's not snow.

  3. Sabrina has me dreaming about the D&G foundation. Is that sad?

  4. I don't think I like that the foundation is in a pot and you have to dip into it... I'll stick to Perfection Lumiere! Though I think I need a better brush for it. I just can't decide between the LMdB one or the Chanel

  6. oh it's snowing quite energetically here in Brooklyn right now. :) fun fun. I bought the Hanamichi palette during L&T friends and family. It was a nice surprise in the corner of the Nars counter I was perusing. I really liked the idea of the bento box with the lipsticks but didn't want to spend $125 so this is a nice compromise.

I'm a sucker for rose fragrances, I'm always looking for "the one" that matches the idea in my mind of how I'd like the fragrance to surround me. Silly, I know!

Stay warm & out of the snow!

  8. Well, Im officially snowbound for a few hours, so thanks for providing lots of fun reads!

So kind of you to include me CG. I usually shy away from these things but my client is the Pres. of the BCA so I couldnt refuse. Once I got out their, my inner Diva kicked in!

    Be careful out there!

  9. Hi Product Doc! No that's normal, isn't it?

  10. Hi BlushingNoir,

I did take that cuddle time with Charlie and just got up from a nap to find it's snowing here, right in the Dc area! This is ludicrous.

I am waiting for the new Armani foundation. The tester arrived, but no product to sell. Fortunately, someone has a foundation for each of us! :) I just started trying the LMdB foundation I bought when Erin was here.

  11. Oh Evelyn, I am not ready for this snow. Good grief, it's October!

I missed the L&T event entirely. Even worse, our L&T doesn't have a NARS counter. I need to scout out that pretty palette. I also didn't buy last year's Bento box. Way too much money - even for my spendthrift habits!

  12. Hello, Costin, next time, please no links here. Hope you have a good day! A pleasure to meet you!

  13. You too, Debbi! I think we are getting a dusting. I heard you were getting inches of snow. What's coming down right now is big and wet.

I'm so glad you went - the photo was beautiful!

  14. That NARS palette is incredibly beautiful. I'm trying to picture myself in those colours....particularly that dodgy pinkish red. I wonder if it will be available in our area? I hope so! I'd love to swatch it.

I'm so happy you love OJ Woman so much. Next I'll insist you try OJ Man. It's so unisex. I'll be encouraging you to write more features on men's frags too! Love that you started that :-)

  15. Hi Lovethescents!

I probably have Man in the sampler the company sent me. I'll go check. Thanks for all the prodding. I love Woman!

Actually, the pink shade is my least favorite. Fortunately, a very light application is pretty. It's just the heavy stripe that is terribly brash.

  16. Odd...My friends upstate had a lot of snow, but out on the Island, it's just lots of driving rain and wind! (I'd almost rather have snow--at least I love to watch it come down.)
I really want to buy Bond No.9 "The Scent of Peace"--pretty pricey!

  17. MamaVal,

I keep forgetting to ask the Bond Girl at Saks (sorry, couldn't resist the girl; she's a grown woman) for sample of that. The notes tell me I'd love it.

  18. Thank you so much for the mention, CG! I agree with lovethescents- if you love OJ Woman, you will probably love Man too, I definitely do. They are cut from the same, rich, gorgeous, mossy cloth.

  19. Thank you so much for featuring me in your weekend stroll!

You absolutely must smell Bond Scent of Peace - it's very much a "you" scent.

  20. Hi Charlestongirl! It's just unbelievable to hear you are under snow, so early in the season! I hope you don't suffer too much from it (just heard thousands of people are cut off from electricity power, too horrible!)
I send you lots of sunshine rays to make you smile and wish you a very quiet, warm afternoon cuddling with little Charlie and playing with make-up:-)♥

  21. Hi Carrie!

I guess I need to go "un-bury" that sample set and get sniffing. :)

  22. Joey, you and MamaVal are going to get me in more spending trouble than I'm already in!

  23. Thanks, Clarisse!

We only got 1/4 inch here, and it was icy early this morning. The overpasses near my house had been treated, which amazed me. Now, the sun is out, and I hope to get some photos soon.

Just came back from Costco, where I stocked up on unsalted peanuts for wildlife and new cook books for me. Cook books are another passion, and there were new ones out! I adore Jacques Pepin and bought his. He's such a gentleman. I was lucky to get to meet him once at a book signing. He's the kind of chef you could imagine chatting with for hours - with a glass of wine, of course.

  24. Ormande Jayne Woman is one of my favorites! I also love Tolu. You should try it! It's gorgeous...

  25. Rosamaria, My addictions are already out of control! I need to stop trying pretty things for a while. :)

I'm also saving money for tomorrow when I can order the Le Labo city exclusives. I need two!
