Come One, Come All was created to work for everyone, with shades that are perfect for all skin and hair colors. It was launched today at the Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show at the Montgomery Mall store. I didn't attend the trend show, but I did pop over to the store to meet up with my friends from Le Métier de Beauté. While I was there, I purchased Come One, Come All.
I was excited to meet Tawni Hart, EC Regional Beauty Director for Nordstrom. She gave me the names of the four shades. Here they are, top to bottom.
- Haute Honey
- Tawni Taupe
- Montgomery Mauve
- Bethesda Brown
Actually, all four shades are drop-dead gorgeous. I must lobby for a Tysons Galleria Kaleidoscope!
Here are two swatch photos, taken quickly in full sun when I got home from the store. I swatched top to bottom (in the shade order listed above), using a sponge-tipped applicator and a heavy hand.
Haute Honey, a shimmering fleshy peach, is the perfect base shade. It has a perfect name too. Look at Tawni Taupe! Brilliant, gleaming taupe-grey (or greyed taupe). It could not be more gorgeous. Montgomery Mauve is also cleverly named after the store, mall, and county. Its a lively red-toned coppery mauve that I'll apply on my face more lightly than I did for these photos. The pure dark chocolate brown, Bethesda Brown takes the signature color of Bethesda, Maryland, and recreates it for the eyes.
I rushed this feature into "print" so that you could see Come One, Come All and call the store to order your own special Kaleidoscope. You can still be one of the 75 lucky ladies to own one. Just call Nordstrom at Montgomery Mall at (301) 365-4111 and ask for the Le Métier de Beauté counter. It's a little crazy in there today, given the show, so you may have to wait a few minutes to be helped. Hang in there. This Kaleidoscope is definitely worth a small investment of your time.
Update: I applied Montgomery Mauve as a blush this afternoon, and it was exquisite! That's how this fair-haired gal will be wearing it.
Update 11/21: It appears that the bottom two shades in Come One, Come All were duplicates for the bottom two shades in Silk Road. A Best Things in Beauty reader was the first person to bring the similarities to my attention - not too long after she got Come One, Come All. Since then, I have seen other bloggers, who own Silk Road (I don't), point out the similarities, most recently Sabrina at Beauty Look Book. I don't understand it because it was supposed to have been designed by Nordstrom. Come One, Come All sold out, so if you wanted those bottom two shades, it looks like you can purchase them in Silk Road.

That taupe is absolutely gorgeous. What a lovely selection of colours!
ReplyDeleteHi gal!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exquisite? Actually, Haute Honey is also a must-have. The brown is beautiful. I'll have to have some time to layer and play to determine how much I will wear Montgomery Mauve.
This is a palette I would buy for the top two shades alone! It's that gorgeous. I can get one for you and ship if you want. Just e-mail my blog address - soon. These are going to sell out.
I'm e-mailing you now!
ReplyDeleteOooh, this is brilliant!!! Thank you so much for the photo and review :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sabrina. It really is pretty. I just bought one for our friend Modesty Brown. You want one too?
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a little happy dance around my house as we speak! :D
ReplyDeleteHi Charlestongirl! This is a lovely kaleidoscope but I know that I would wear only the 1rst two ones (Honey and Taupe) I have problems with mauve brown and dark brown: so do you know if usually the colors in the kaleidoscope kits can be found later in the permanent collection! It would be a pity to buy one kit only for two colors, better wait, don't you think? :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! I just placed my order after seeing you swatches and review. Hope they don't forget to put mine aside...the SAseemed so busy!
ReplyDeleteHi Charlestongirl!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your review so soon after this was released! My heart started palpating!! Question: are the last 2 shades (montgomery mauve and bethseda brown) in the kit the same as the ones in the Silk Road kit (Ikat and Brocade)? I have that kit and love it, but wanted to know how similar "Come One, Come all" is to that.
This is such a beautiful palette - love every color! :) Thanks for posting :)
ReplyDeleteIt took me three tries (the phone relay service for the deaf only adds another layer of complexity) but finally my call got through and I was able to reserve one for myself. I'll be picking it up this evening. It looks like it's going to be gorgeous! Thanks for alerting us to this special edition, Charlestongirl.
ReplyDeleteHi Clarisse,
ReplyDeleteAs a rule, we don't see the colors show up as singles later. Keep in mind that I applied the two lower-level shades very heavily for my photos. The brown works fine when applied lightly.
I haven't had enough time to play. I may wear the mauve as a blush!
Hi Connie and Leigh!
ReplyDeleteGlad y'all got through. It took me many tries on the part of the operator to get through to secure the one for Modesty Brown.
Hi Den,
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do a side-by-side comparison for you, but I don't own Silk Road. Sorry!
Thanks, Makeup Magpie!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I don't think my wallet is going to be able to keep up with all these exclusive releases! I don't know whether I should be thanking you or not? LOL
ReplyDeleteFair-skinned friend alert!
ReplyDeleteThe Montgomery Mauve is gorgeous as a blush!
These are such beautiful colors!!! I may have to call that store! What a fabulous grouping.
ReplyDeleteCall soon, Polarbelle! From what I hear, they were flying off the shelf this afternoon after everyone got a look here.
ReplyDeleteI ordered this so fast. You are dangerous on the wallet Charleston Girl. You tempt me so often and this time I called. Can't wait to get this.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Marcia, I think I should have worked out a commission arrangement before I left the store! You are the eighth blogger I know called. :) Hope you got through faster than I did.
ReplyDeleteI have ordered it, let's hope I get it! Meanwhile, Charleston girl, you recently did a feature on Mickey Castillo from LMDB; you asked him about an LMDB holiday eye kit, and he said he was designing one and described it. Now it seems your other LMDB pal, Dustin Lujan, has designed his own LMDB eye kit which will be sold only at Bergdorf's. Too many LMDB eye kits? Never!
ReplyDeleteNemo, Dustin's kit is coming out for holiday, and Mikey's will be released between Christmas and early January for resort. :) Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting this! I just ordered mine online-they were so nice and even put the celebrity makeup artist on the phone with me (i forget her name already, oops).
I've been reading your blog for some months and it's one of my most visited. Thanks for all your hard work. :)
Michelle
I must also add-apparently I got lucky. I got through so quickly I was a little surprised!
ReplyDeletethe individual colors are pretty, but i was wondering how the colors look layered...i know what makes a kaleidoscope awesome is seeing the multi-dimension aspect of all colors layered on top of one another.
ReplyDeletedo you have a happen to have a swatch of the colors layered per chance? if so, posting a pic would be much appreciated :D
Oh, There ARE 2 more LMDB eye kits coming. Now that's MY Christmas present! Thanks for the heads-up, Charleston girl!
ReplyDeleteDo you know if there will be an LMDB lip kit per chance to go along with the Holiday offerings?
ReplyDeletelol It's going to be a mad rush on Bergdorf for Dustin's kaleidoscope. It's such a tease that my express bus passes Bergdorf every day coming home from work. I keep hearing a voice in my head calling me to the LMdB counter!
ReplyDeleteGot it! The place was packed this evening; I went straight in and straight out. The kaleidoscope is every bit as beautiful as you said it would be. You're right, the second shade is the real star.
ReplyDeleteThe counter also threw in a free gift: LMdB nail lacquer in High Wire, a shimmering gray-lavender that I probably wouldn't have bought myself but now can see myself having a lot of fun with.
I hope LMdB does more special editions. The hunt is part of the thrill, after all.
Wow this is stunning!! The colour pairing is so sublime!! I wouldn't hesitate to get this except that you said there are 2 more kaleidoscopes coming!! Thanks for the post :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Michelle, for the blog compliment!
ReplyDeleteI think that once the phone started ringing off the hook at LMdB, they realized it was with orders - and started picking up. :)
I don't know Nemo. I haven't heard of one, but that doesn't mean much.
ReplyDeleteHi Panties,
ReplyDeleteI can layer it later and put a photo on Twitter. I started yesterday, but the draw of lunch overcame my desire to play with makeup.
Yea, Leigh! I need to go back today and get the ones I purchased for other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI was also given a gift. Very nice event!
Hi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteIsn't that nice, though? You can buy one Kaleidoscope/month!
I wish!!
ReplyDeleteCharlestongirl, do you know what sort of colours will be in the other two kaleidoscopes??
My husband is tightening my purse strings for me... i can only buy one kaleidoscope for christmas supposedly... hmmmph
DEN, this is late, but I just got a chance to compare the two kaleidoscopes in the pan.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the third shade, Come One, Come All is slightly cooler than Silk Road. The bottom brown shades could be dupes, except that Come One, Come All has more gold glitter than Silk Road.
I haven't had a chance yet to do comparison swatches, but for now I'd say that the third shades are distinct enough (Silk Road is warm, Come One, Come All is cool) while the brown shades are dupes. Of course, swatches could tell an entirely different story.
Hope this is helpful! The first two shades, by the way, are worth the price of the admission.
Hi A Girl's Guide!
ReplyDeleteMikey's Kaleidoscope, which will come out at the beginning of 2012, was described in general terms here: http://bestthingsinbeauty.blogspot.com/2011/10/mikey-castillo-le-metier-de-beautes.html
Le Métier de Beauté put a photo of Dustin's Kaleidoscope on their Facebook page toward the end of last week. I will cover it this week. It is expected at Bergdorf Goodman (only) in early December.
Thanks, Leigh!
ReplyDeleteWell my goodness, Charleston girl, I certainly hope you received an *excellent* gift!!!! They do still have a couple of these as I just placed an order to be shipped cross-country to me :-). Hoping I will be pleased and not wishing I didn't hold out for the others!!!
ReplyDeleteYea, Katie! I learned last night that they had 13 left, but that calls were still coming in. I'm curious to know if the 13 flew out today.
ReplyDeleteOh nooooooo so many kaleidoscopes, so little money! Haha I think I have to pass on Antiquite Poupee and Come One, Come All seeing as they are not available online but I will definitely, definitely get the holiday kaleidoscope by Mikey!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks as always :)
I want this so badly!! I bet they're all gone. :( I want it do much I'm considering selling something!
ReplyDeleteKyle, they are all gone. You should check out Dustin's new palette, available December 1 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Hi Charlestongirl,
ReplyDeleteI just got this palette and I was so disappointed to find that the top shade is identical to the pink (first shade) in the LMdB HK Exclusive Kaleidoscope called City Girl, the second shade is Crystal Ball from Splendid Frost & City Girl, and the last shade is the same as the last shade in Silk Road!!
As much as I feel lucky to own this LE, it is starting to annoy me that they recycle shades in "LE" palettes :(
I hope Antiquite Poupee has four new shades!
Sorry for the rant.
Cindy
Sorry, I meant to say the first *champagne/honey* shade is identical to the first one from City Girl.
ReplyDeleteCity Girl, you are not the only one who has noticed the re-use of shades in this palette. I spent some time yesterday trying to get to the bottom of it. The only thing I can tell you is that Tawni was presented with hundreds of potential shades and selected the four she wanted. It seems unfortunate that the bottom two were from Silk Road (not even sold out yet), and the top shades bear striking resemblance to earlier shades.
ReplyDeleteAnyone unhappy with Come One, Come All should write LMdB. There has to be a way to retire shades for at least a few years so that they aren't inadvertently used again.
Like many, I wish LMdB would get out of this red-shade "fashion" too. Could someone please let me design a Kaleidoscope? LOL
I would totally buy your Kaleidoscope! You have great taste :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Girls Guide! I did call you City Girl on purpose - I think it's a cute name, and I wanted to be the third to repeat it [wink].
ReplyDeleteMaybe if I'm a good girl, I'll get the chance someday. I promise, no dupes, but I love the name City Girl. Maybe we could have a Charleston Girl K? :)
Does anyone have Come One, Come All that they would like to sell? I couldn't get one :(
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI have one unswatched Come One Come All that I would sell. Please let me know how to contact you to discuss the details. I am the one that Charlestongirl contacted on your behalf.
JC
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI have an e-mail for anonymous. If you send me yours, I will give it to her so neither of you needs to go public with e-mails.
Thanks so much. I will send the info to you now.
ReplyDeleteSorry to troll, would anyone have a Come One Come All kit that they dont have love for and want to sell?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
