Le Métier de Beauté Capitol Kaleidoscope and Event at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie

Le Métier de Beauté's limited-edition Capitol Kaleidoscope ($95) was designed by Michael Reinhardt at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie, and it's a beauty! To celebrate its release, Michael and Erin Lockard will be taking appointments at Mazza on Wednesday, December 7. I can't wait!

There will only be 75 of these Capitol Kaleidoscopes for sale, so if you want one, I'd suggest you reserve it now. Call Michael at (202) 966-9700, extension 2258, to place your pre-order. If you are local to the DC area, you should also make an appointment for next week. You will love Michael and Erin! I do.

I'll bet my friend Lisa Lingis will be there too. Lisa used to be the Le Métier de Beauté rep at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie. Now, she's our regional account executive, so I get to see her more often. She's fabulous - like the rest of the team.

Update 12/2: Here are the shades in Capitol Kaleidoscope.

Pink Tendre: matte pink highlighter
Peache Or: rose champagne
Taupe Satine: satin taupe
Prune Veloure: deep matte aubergine

The range of colors was selected to embody the array of styles, ideas, and personas that converge to make Washington, DC a unique force of energy. Michael collaborated with Mikey Castello, Le Métier de Beauté's Director of Makeup, to select the shades.

  2. Thanks, Swathi, I hadn't seen this one. I spend so much time fighting copyright infringement. Sigh!

  3. Do you have any idea what the shades are?

  5. Swathi,

This is about the sixth site I've found that has stolen my posts for many months. There are hundreds on that site. I have prepared a DMCA notice to fax to Google. They aren't terribly responsive, unfortunately, but I must get the ball rolling.

Please send me an e-mail at bestthingsinbeauty@gmail.com. I want to send you something to thank you for alerting me to the ha ha "joke."

  7. man, seriously? another specific counter exclusive?

  8. Alarm bells appear in my head now when I see notice of LMDB counter exclusives. I don't recognize any of the shades but I think it resembles the Crochet/Tunisian Trist kaleidoscope a little too closely for my comfort. Will reserve judgment till you have more info for us :)

  9. Great, another super exclusive, limited to 75 only made, gone in an eye blink Kaleidoscope. Although, I adore and own some of them, I as LMdB customer honestly do not like the direction the company is taking with churning these exclusive Kaleidoscopes. On the other note, dear Charlestongirl, thank you very much for your wonderful blog.

  10. Xiao, I know a lot of people feel that way. Similarities never bother me. It might be a good idea to name each color on the kit, though, and leave the names the same if shades are going to be re-used.

  11. Natalia and Anonymous,

I'm sure there are business reasons for the limited introductions. Those of us who adore LMdB makeup don't mind chasing them down, but I really do understand your thoughts. Many of you have expressed frustration with so many counter exclusives. Even the sales reps at other stores are frustrated by the time they spend getting them secured for their best customers.

My advice? If the only issue you have is the cost of shipping, always ask for free shipping. The counters have started to oblige on the limited introductions.

  12. I agree. I wish they'd put the names of the colors on the box too. I often forget the names of colors from the older kaleidoscopes just because the information is not readily accessible.

  13. Sherry at Mazza has reserved a Capitol Kaleidoscope for me, which I will pick up Wednesday. I just wish LMdB wouldn't create these exclusives so close togehter. I really shouldn't buy two this time of year!

  14. Thanks for the heads up. I've reserved one to pick up in person, and am awaiting additional information on the shades. Like I said on Xiao's blog, I do think LMdB should assign the same names to shades.

  15. Oh no oh no!! Apart from the first shade (which appears to be Refresh), the three bottom shades appear to be new and gorgeous!!

I think I have to miss out on this one :) I'm broke thanks to LMdB! Hahaha

    Same for you too, Leigh!

  19. Hmmmm love this. But I just got Antique Popee, how can I spend money for 2 in one week?
Seems like same color scheme like upcoming Chanel Spring, peaches and plums, soooo want to try. Now it is decision LMDB or Chanel?

  20. I went to the thief's blog that was listed in a the post above and warning bells starting going off left and right. Hopefully enough people have Norton like I do and she won't have any hits! I did manage to get a glimpse of your arm with the Armani swatches! I quickly ran a Norton scan and 8 security risks were corrected. Pay backs!

  21. OMG, MikkiD! You went to the thief's blog site? I didn't list it in this LMdB post or the Friday forum, so I'm confused. I didn't get any notice of virus problems from my anti-virus software, and I spent a lot of time there copying URLs yesterday!

Can you e-mail me at bestthingsinbeauty@gmail.com and tell me what site you visited? The "alarm-bell" site? Thanks! I'll tell Google if it's the same one.

  22. Charlestongirl, unfortunately work duties prevent me from coming in on for the launch on Wednesday. I'm picking the kaleidoscope up later. Do let us know how the day goes!
