Bobbi Brown Rose Gold Shimmer Brick from the Rose Gold Collection for Spring 2012

Bobbi Brown's new, lust-worthy Rose Gold Collection has arrived! I had been counting the days, assuming it would launch in February, when my sales associate e-mailed to let me know that it was on the counter at Neiman Marcus. We picked out my purchases on the phone. I'm as thrilled with the collection as I expected to be. There are two Shimmer Bricks (more to come) and stunning lip colors.

I don't think there's a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick I've ever missed. I've hoarded some of them, and this new, limited-edition Rose Gold Shimmer Brick ($39) is bringing out my hoarding instinct. It's amazingly gorgeous. The only question today is how many I will ultimately purchase.

I had to take my photos with high overcast (or hazy sun) conditions. The sun was not bright enough for optimal swatch photos, but given the option of holding this feature a week (the weather forecast is gray and wintry), I snapped what I could get. I wanted you to have the opportunity to visit your favorite Bobbi Brown counter this weekend.

I'm attaching multiple photos to this feature. Each time I zoomed outside in the cold, tempted by sunlight that beckoned through my windows, I hoped for the best. Please ignore the goosebumps.

I applied the swatch at the top of my arm with a sponge-tipped applicator swept across all five shades in the palette. The beauty of Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks is that they offer five shades you can use singly or mix and match to create your own combinations for face and eyes. The swatch below the "stripe" on my arm was created with a heavy application of the powder, across all shades, using Bobbi Brown's Face Blender Brush.

The blended rose gold color makes me deliriously happy. I love the shade. I love the shimmer. I love the finish. I love the intensity. Rose Gold Shimmer Brick falls on the light end of the intensity continuum, which pleases me. We can always layer color, adding more to suit our tastes, but we can't subtract it quickly (Loyd Cassler trick: layer foundation over the cheek color when you've overdone it).

This blended warm pink shade with golden highlights should appeal to everyone. I wish I had taken a swatch photo of the fourth stripe from the top of the palette. Ooh la la! I'll leave it for you to discover its magnificence when you buy your new Rose Gold Shimmer Brick. This is must-have makeup, and because it's a limited-edition, you won't want to waste any time in getting yours. Remember, I'll be out there hoarding, and I doubt if I'll be the only one.

Bobbi Brown's Rose Gold Collection has arrived at Neiman Marcus locally. It is not yet available on Bobbi Brown's Web site (as of this morning). I don't know if it has arrived at Nordstrom stores, but it's available at the Nordstrom online site.

  1. I ordered mine a few days ago from Nordstrom. I didn't even see the actual product, or photos of it. After seeing your swatches I'm glad that I ordered it. =o)

  2. Beautiful!! If I may ask, does it contain too much sparkle for daytime? I have never owned a shimmer brick. Thank you, as always, for your great swatches and posts!

  3. Charlestongirl - Beautiful! Can I ask - how does this compare to the Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous illuminator? I am reminded of it when I see your swatches.

  4. I really don't think so, Veronica. I love Shimmer Bricks for day. They add a sophisticated sheen.

  5. Hi Pretty Addicted!

One is a powder; the other is cream-like. So their texture is very different. As for color comparisons, I think the BB color is more pink. No way to get swatch comparisons. It's very dark and grey here - and will be all weekend.

  12. Hi!I just was on line at Nordstrom's and found a new wild rose brick. Did you happen to see that one too? And if you did, how did they compare?

  13. I love shimmer bricks, sometimes do not need to use blush with these.
I'm torn between this and the new Guerlain shimmer powder. Are they similar? Thank You

  14. there are too many gorgeous spring beauty items!!! I've always thought that BB shimmer bricks were gorgeous a bit on the glittery side. Do you find this to be just as glittery as her previous SBs or does it seem more subtle than usual?

  15. I had to laugh. I was just thinking to myself, so many pretty things, I wish I had more faces to wear them! :)

  16. Thanks! I love rose gold anything and highlighters in general, so this will be on my list of things to check out.

It's been dark and gray here too; I'm in Seattle and we just got slammed with snow and ice all this week. I haven't been able to get any decent photos at all :P Stay warm and dry!

  17. Mary Ann,

These replace blush for me. They carry enough color for my pale face. The Guerlain powders have, as a rule, less color and lots of glow. Gorgeous too! I wouldn't be able to one vs. the other.

  18. Connie, I don't think it's glittery at all. Adds a sheen to my face.

  19. Evelyn, yes! More than one face - or the opportunity most of us don't have every day to change makeup every four hours. :)

  20. Hi Pretty Addicted, I'm headed out to get a photo of snow and ice. If I can't do makeup, I can do weather. LOL

  21. Resham, have you seen them in person yet? You buy either one? I need to feature Wild Rose, but I haven't had the light to get swatch photos.

  22. I'm new to your blog and love it! I am so excited to see the swatches from this collection. Have you had a chance to swatch the Wild Rose Shimmer Brick? Also, can you identify the pink gold looking gloss in the photos of the collection.

  23. Hi agray99,

I'm waiting for sunshine. I MAY get some early tomorrow. I have the Wild Rose Shimmer Brick and love it. Also have that gloss, which is drop-dead gorgeous (my fave of the four). Hopefully, I can feature them tomorrow.

  24. i am from karachi, pakistan.. a coastal city with bright sunny mornings and humid days..will these products be useful here? most just melt away giving an extremely dark tone..

  25. i have been checking it daily, guess you are busy..stay care, stay happy:)

  26. Gosh, Mahwish,

I don't really know. I've never been to Pakistan. I doubt if the color would melt away, but I have no point of reference for the environment there.

  27. I love the Shimmer Bricks and have all but the most recent ones. Could you explain how the Rose Gold is different from the Pink Quartz and the Wild Rose is different from Peony?

    Thanks so much

  28. Mary Kay,

I will try, but really have zero time at home this week. Working on a huge work project. Will need time to pull out the others and do comparisons. I know for sure that Rose Gold is unlike any prior Shimmer Brick. I think Wild Rose is too, but I'm not as sure its entirely unique. I need to see that one on my skin next to the older shades.
