Chanel 51, Montaigne Eyeshadow Palette

Look what just arrived from the Chanel Boutique at Bellagio Las Vegas! The 51, Montaigne Eyeshadow Palette celebrates Chanel's new boutique at 51 avenue Montaigne. We can help Chanel celebrate here in the United States by wearing this fabulous new palette, 51, Montaigne Eyeshadow Palette (Ombres Matelassées Palette Yeux) ($80).

I zoomed outside to get some quick photos in this afternoon's bright sunlight. The presentation of the palette inside the Chanel bag was gorgeous. It's really too bad I had to open it!

The shades in the palette are all complementary. I'll have many options for creating looks, with three golds (white gold, yellow gold, and antique gold), one khaki, and one midnight violet-blue.

I applied all five shades heavily with a sponge-tipped applicator. I'm reminded of respectful events on television, when commentators realize it's best to let the photos speak for themselves, and they remark that we'll be allowed to watch in silence. That's what I'll do here, allow you to check out the photos, without excess commentary.

The texture of these eye shadows is divine. They are not powdery, and there's no fall-out. The shadows adhere to my skin beautifully.

I'll be back as soon as I can get more close-ups (and darker photos). For now, what do you think? Do you need 51, Montaigne? You can purchase this golden collection now by calling Las Vegas. The gals (Rochelle and Giselle) at the Chanel Boutique at Bellagio Las Vegas are delightful - and so responsive. You can reach them at (702) 765-5505.

Update 3/16: Sabrina at The Beauty Look Book has posted swatch photos. Make sure to check them out.

  1. I am so glad you liked this palette. I just got mine from the New York boutique but have not had a chance to play with it yet. Those swatches look great. I was scared when I opened up the palette that the first three shades would be too similar. Glad that's not the case

  2. Funny about New York, Anahita! I get better service from 3/4 way across the country. I'm still waiting for New York to call me. :)

  3. The colors look gorgeous, especially for your coloring! Do you know anything about the supposed re-release of Pink Explosion blush?

  4. What gorgeous colours! too bad I'm allergic to most Chanel cosmetics!

  5. I don't, Nina - sorry. I remember reading something about it, but I can't remember where. Did you Google it?

  6. Very pretty, not familiar with these boutiques. Are certain products limited to the boutiques only?

  7. Hi Mary Ann,

Yes, but this palette isn't a boutique-exclusive. Usually the Chanel Boutiques get stock before the department stores. Ordering from them can cost shipping, but they always send very nice samples with purchase.

  8. I wonder when this will be released in Canada? I'm not sure if I will get it if I am still waiting for Cle de Peau #208 set.

  9. Christina, are there any Chanel Boutiques in Canada? Can you call New York to ask them if they ship to Canada? I can't believe there won't be someone who ships. Neiman Marcus should be getting it.

  14. Hi Yesplease,

There are probably few eye shadow colors in the world that are unique. Even black is everywhere now. :)

  16. Hi LSBD,

Sometime - not sure how soon - the palette should hit the department stores. Ask your fave Chanel counter when you will be able to play. :)

  17. I love the midnight violet-blue shade! It is so great the colors adhere without problems, this is something that I have seen in some palettes I have bought and it is not easy at all when i feel something is falling as I applied the shade while I don't see it on my face, but still something was loosing. Great palette as well as your photos and commentary about it. Thanks!

  18. I keep coming back to oogle the swatches- I'm not stalking you- I'm stalking the palette. :)

  19. That gave me a big, hearty laugh. LSBD! I don't have a way to track who's here, so come visit it any time, and you'll never be considered a stalker. :)

BTW, don't you hate those sites that publish, "A visitor just arrived from...."? First, it's none of their business. Second, the tracking software can only track the location of your host system. So, it might be one town off to an individual's central office (Telephone Lingo) or narrow it down to country only. Bizarre!

  20. Hi Zelle,

The palette was made in Italy and has the characteristics of fine Italian makeup. The shadows are silky on the brush and stay where they belong. I have had Chanel palettes that sent powder fleeing its boundaries with the first swipe. Not this one!

  21. Hi! I had to get this new set and I did! It is a bit to shimmery and I got green eye liner to go with it. I really love the look and it is available now in Canada. I miss Chanel makeup and I am glad that I went back to this line.

Do you yet know what will be the next chanel limited edition? Here they're quite hard to find, if I know first i could get more chances to get one!
