Coming Attraction: Chanel Limited-Edition Holiday 2012 Gift Sets

Every year, Chanel introduces gorgeous gift sets for the holidays. I assume the idea is that you should give them as gifts, but I can't give away any of them, despite my intentions when I purchase them.

My photos of photos from Chanel's brochure are just as miserable as the other Chanel photos I've published over the last few days. I figured you'd rather see bad photos than nothing. It's extremely hard to get good photos from brochures in stores, with store lighting. Remember, you can click on the photos to enlarge them.

The set shown above is Les Trois Essentiels: Lèvres et Ongles (Essential Trio for Lips and Nails) ($88) - irresistible. Two best-selling Chanel high-shine lip glosses in Amour, a shimmering pink coral, and Plaisir, a milky rose, are paired with Vertigo for your nails. Vertigo, a nearly black shade with a pearlized red effect, offers a dramatic counterpunch to the pastel glosses.

Les Deux Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer Duo ($63) is a perennial favorite. The Glossimer Duo returns this holiday season with a new limited-edition pairing of Wild Rose, a muted mauve, and Spark, a golden berry (one of my favorites). The perfect complement is a mini Le Crayon Lèvres Precision Lip Definer in Nude, along with a sharpener.

If those two sets didn't rev you, check out Les Essentiels Les Pinceaux Essential Brush Set ($225). Carefully selected by the Chanel Makeup Studio, this collection of five meticulously crafted professional brushes will help you create a perfect makeup look.
  • Angled Powder Brush #2
  • Blush Brush #4
  • Foundation Brush #6
  • Large Eyeshadow Brush #25
  • Contour Shadow Brush #14
After seeing this set, I wish I had waited before I purchased my new Chanel brushes. This is an amazing set. Could you give it away? When I purchase it, it will be with full intentions of keeping it. No pretenses that it's a gift!

All three sets are presented in a custom-designed Chanel makeup bag. You'll be able to purchase them in the fall. They will be limited-editions, so don't let any grass grow under your feet once they appear in the stores.

  1. Are the brushes different than the ones in the last 2 years holiday brush sets? I know Chanel updated their full sizes but what about these minis?

  2. Must share my CHANEL brushes story. I grew up with Bobbi Brown brushes; none better. When CHANEL introduced its new brushes earlier this year, I bought a few of the eye and lip ones. Kept telling myself I liked the BBs better, but I continued to expand my CHANEL brushes collection. I love them. Some are available only online. I still use certain of my BB ones, like the big smudge brush, the firm lip brush and the blending brush. I love the CHANEL big shadow brush and the tinier # 14 and #15s. You can't go wrong.

  3. Wow~ Christmas collection already? I love the brush set!!!!! I have the same question as the first commentor here. I didn't like ones in the last 2 years holiday brush sets. Do you think or know that these will be better quality? :) I hope so!!!

  4. Uh, is it just me or are the prices of those sets more than just buying the items individually? Maybe yet another price increase is in the works?

  5. Hi CG, just thought I'd pop in with some news. The new Chantecaille elephants products are now showing up under new arrivals on the Neiman Marcus website, although not shipping until Sept. 7. They all look beautif as alwyas and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the new powder. My Chantecaille loose powder is already my favorite. The new Guerlain products are up on the new arrivals on the NM website as well and it looks like they are in stock.

Thanks for the heads up about the Chanel holiday offerings!

  6. The price is the same if you bought them individually - wonder if they are smaller - sometimes the holiday ones are? I already have 4 of them so guess I won't buy them just for the case.

  7. Hey there, Anonymous, I am told they are the new brushes, but definitely the handles are shorter.

  8. Hi Love Passion, I'm told they are the new brushes, but I won't swear to it since I haven't seen them. :)

  11. I have all the old Chanel brushes and only recently a couple started to fall apart (had for maybe 25 years?) anyhow bought a few MAC - love the ones i bought and now have bought a bunch of the new Chanel - think they will last longer than the old ones. I can't wait to see this gift - I really think if they are the same size - the cost is the same for purchasing them separte - so if you don't have any - good deal - if you do - ok deal -unless the handles are shorter? Can't wait to see them - Thank you so much for sharing this post.

  12. I adore Les Deux Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer. I always receive compliments when I wear this color. I'll be buying this set again this year. On another note, I've already been buying Christmas gifts when I'm in the city. It's never to early to shop for Christmas - LOL!
    Have a wonderful day everyone.

  13. Everyone, I checked today. The brushes are the new ones, with shorter handles. There may not be a great discount (or any) on the set. I don't have time to add. No, I wouldn't pay that for the bag, but all things being equal, I'm fine with shorter handles.

  14. Oh Northerngirl, you are one of those people I envy. I just can't holiday shop this early. :)

  15. Do you know if they are available for pre-order?

  16. I added them up - they cost the same as the full sizes - sometimes the brushes at the Holidays are more like travel sets - Think with the full size - its a better deal.
