Tarte Emerald Skinny SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner

Whether it's just a hint or an entire wash of color, it's easy to wear emerald, Pantone's color of the year, with Tarte's Skinny SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner ($19). This emerald is rich, vivid, and bold - everything you need to make a gorgeous statement.

A follow-up to Tarte's best-selling SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner, this trimmed-down, skinny waterproof eyeliner glides on like velvet and powers your day so you never have to worry about sumdging or budging. Just like the original, you can lock down a completely waterproof finish thanks to the rich, pure pigments boosted by Amazonian clay for truer, bolder color.

You can use the built-in smudge tool at one end to soften the look if you don't want a thin line - the line I love. No matter how you wear this versatile liner, the Amazonian clay will work to nourish your eyelids, reduce surface oil, and improve overall texture for easy application and long wear.

I love this eyeliner, which is available in 10 beautiful shades, but emerald is the shade of the moment. This color emerald is, of course, bright green, but it's got a slight blue hue that makes it absolutely heavenly. Perhaps the "T" could stand for teal emerald instead of Tarte?

I took swatch photos in full sun on one of the rare occasions in the last few days when it graced us. This has to be one of the prettiest green liners I have every seen. On the arm or on the eyelids, Emerald Skinny SmolderEYES is magnificent.

Emerald was sent to me by Tarte. There's another green shade I must have. It's Sunstone Jade, and you can see it nicely by clicking on the color swatch at Tarte's Web site. The photo will change to show you each color. I love the thin pencil, so I may have to order a third one - maybe Slate?

You can purchase this gorgeous entry to the color of the year at Tarte's Web site, Sephora, and Ulta.

  2. What's the staying power like on these? I sometimes use Urban Decay 24/7 pencils, but I find some of the darker colors smudge on my eyelid. However, colors like stray dog and bourbon seem to stay put. I like Tarte's lash primer and Gifted mascara and use them nearly every day, so I'd love to give these a try if they don't smudge.

I like the skinny pencils even better.

  4. Hey Amy!

On me, they stay on forever. I have to use a long-wear eye makeup remover to get the color off my lids.

  8. What a beautiful cool green! Pantone's Emerald actually does have a hint of blue to it, but I'm sure there will be greens galore as fashions and cosmetics get on board with it. Although my eyes are a dark, warm green, most green eye makeup isn't very flattering. If the green has any khaki, yellow, or brown to it, I might as well forget about it. It makes my eyes look like a drab olive brown. Blue greens; however, are a different story entirely. They bring a sparkle to my eyes, so I was thrilled when I saw Pantone's gorgeous emerald shade being featured this year.

  9. Oh, I love the shade of this pencil! You know, I told my husband that this colour would be hot before Pantone announced it. I wonder how it would look against pale green with yellow eys?

  11. Hi Eileen,

I'm pretty excited about all the things to come in emerald. I wouldn't mind having a new emerald ring, but the ones I like are rather flawless.

Only one way to find out!

  13. I don't usually wear this color but it might be time to try something new, especially in this line of liners. I picked up the holiday set and I swatched the colors on my arm and the color refused to come off, even through a shower, much rubbing and makeup remover! lol

  16. That green is beyond jewelery-gorgeous. I love it. I haven't tried Tarte's liner, but you've certainly given it the sort of review that speaks to me. I've tried their Amazonian Clay serum (thanks to your tips), and I have a cream blusher. Excellent products. Thank you!

  17. Oh my gosh, this is SUCH a gorgeous shade! I LOVE this and need it asap! The color is so vibrant and rich and pigmented! I have yet to try this formula but I hope it's long-wearing on my oily lids, too!

  18. Evelyn, you have to hold the remover on the liner, not rub, to get it off.
