Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow Fresh Effect Eyeshadow from the Été Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013

Chanel's limited-edition Stylo Eyeshadow Fresh Effect Eyeshadows ($34) are featured in the last dark indoor photo of a photo I'll show you to introduce the Été Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013. For those who haven't been reading this week, Saks Chevy Chase shared the photos of upcoming collections. I couldn't take them outside for better snapshots because it was very cloudy.

With a smooth-gliding applicator pen, these Stylo Eyeshadows deliver lightweight, long-wearing color to highlight the lids or precisely line the eyes with gleaming color. There are six gleaming shades, from light and soft to dark and metallic.

Chanel says this eye shadow pen doubles as an eyeliner. The pen will create an iridescent, long-lasting effect. The cooling, water-infused formula should feel good. The specially designed angled tip permits versatile application - whether you want to use it as a shadow or a liner.

The shades look fabulous.
  • Moon River (platinum)
  • Cool Gold (luminous gold)
  • Pink Lagoon (fresh pink)
  • Jade Shore (tender green)
  • Blue Ray (silvery turquoise blue) - a shade that's prominent at Chanel for summer
  • Black Stream (silvery black)
When you want to use it as an eye shadow, Chanel recommends that you apply to the lids in one stroke for a sheer, halo effect, or build the color with several strokes for more intensity. When you want to use it as a liner, Chanel suggests that you apply it with the tip toward the inner corner of the eye and smooth the color outward along the inner lash line. Under the lower lashes, apply from the outer to inner corner, with the tip turned toward the outer corner of the eye. Does that make sense? I'll just experiment when the Stylo Eyeshadows arrive at counters.

That arrival should be in late April or early May. The Été Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013 ships in mid-April, which means a two-week lag until we see it in stores.

I do have three lip colors from summer to show you. Perhaps this wasn't my last feature with a dark photo of a photo. We'll see.

  1. There's a series of stunning promo pictures that feature only the eyes adorned in vibrant butterfly colors. They feature some pretty graphic eyeshadow work. They've also been photoshopped to the point of special effect, so it's hard to see how the shadows and mascaras will actually translate into real life. One thing is certain, though, and that is that Chanel is going for a very youth driven and colorful summer.

Despite my reluctance to embrace the rainbow effect on the eyes, the RC Shine in Pygmalion looks very pretty and fresh. Maybe by the time it's at the counter, I'll have adjusted to the My Little Pony palette for the eyes :-)

  3. Hi Eileen,

I saw the photo of the vibrant aqua blue-green eye. Very snazzy, but definitely too artsy.

The summer collection does seem youthful. I wonder...

  4. Hi Makeup Remastered,

Chanel has certainly broken out of the box!

  5. Thank you for this post! I am so eager to also have a few of these. Are they really all limited? I had read that somewhere else on-line and thought that that was a mistake. Why would they release an entire line and make it LE?

I absolutely love colour on the eyes. Ever since a Chanel MUA used the Vanités quad and the Extracils in Violine to show me how to make my green eyes pop, I have been hooked. She would also do yellow, green, blue, you name it, and I would get so many compliments.

  6. Sorry for another comment (I have been impatiently waiting for this collection and more news on it)! I just saw the promo pics that Eileen mentioned on-line. One was certainly electrified with touch-ups, but one wasn't (as much?). Seeing the butterflies together with the makeup looks makes it all the more beautiful. What inspiration! Monsieur Philips certainly ended his tenure on a very high note.

  7. I am looking forward for having these released. I am usually not big on eye makeup in the summer because I find it melt off quickly due to the heat and if I have allergy attack due to the season.

I have a feeling that they formulated it so that it won't melt off so quickly and the change of wearing intense color would be very interesting new look for me. So exciting!

Thank you so much for sharing :)

  8. Hi Melanie,

All of Chanel's literature says they are LEs. I suspect they will gauge the success and decide whether to keep them around.

  12. Thanks for the photos as usual :) Beautiful lip glosses! How does the formula feel on your lips? Compare to LMdB's lip cremes?
