Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Long-Wear Lip Colour in Charmeuse from the Jardin de Camélias Collection

I feared Chanel's limited-edition Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Long-Wear Lip Colour in Charmeuse (#142, $34) from the Jardin de Camélias Collection might be too nude or too light for my coloring. As you know the Jardin de Camélias Collection is exclusive to Chanel.com, so I had no way to try the color before I purchased. I was thrilled when it arrived! It is nude, but it leans peach, yielding either one of the nicest nudes I've ever worn, or a perfect pastel for spring.

The next generation of Rouge Allure dresses the lips with unmistakable attitude. A new formula with concentrated, ultra-thin pigments offers radically intense, long-wearing color with full coverage and a satin finish. It leaves the lips supple and protected with lasting comfort.

This is a great, saturated, warm nude shade. It should flatter nearly everyone. I took my photos in full sun - one on my arm and one on my fingertip. Testing lip colors on your fingertip gives a better representation of how the colors will look on your lips. Why? Because the natural color of your fingertip is closer to that of your lips than your wrist or inner arm.

Anyone who loves a nude-peach lip color will love Charmeuse. I was smitten with it the moment I tried it.

I think I'll be wearing Charmeuse starting this month and rolling into summer, when it will complement all the warm, bronze shades to which we gravitate in summer.   Don't forget: it's a limited edition, so if you are curious, order yours now. The Jardin de Camélias Collection is - at least currently, exclusive to Chanel online.

  2. Fran says,
This is a beautiful nude and thanks for the swatching tip as I refuse to put tester to lip. About a year ago I bought No.88 Evanescante which seems to be discontinued (a warm nude)and have to say it's the only nude that I've been able to wear. It could be that the formula gives it a bit more life and depth.

  4. Hi CG! I hope you are having a lovely and relaxing weekend. I love Charmeuse as well (like you I was hesitant about the nude but anything limited Chanel gets my attention) and cannot wait to wear it. I am going to a Sephora class tomorrow morning and I think I might just take it along for my finished look!

I also wanted to let you and your readers know that the Chanel JC blush in Sakura is back in stock! Yay! Unfortunately, I'm encountering the same problem as before. It leaves my cart as soon as I go to checkout. I will keep trying every few hours and will report back once it's working. I wonder what it is about this particular product that the coding hates! :)

Wishing you warmer and beautiful weather!

  5. Hi Charleston Girl...I was just able to order the Sakura blush...I happened to try last night after reading your review of the Charmeuse lipstick and I couldn't keep the blush in my cart (just like Melissa). But, this morning I was able to purchase it. I hope it really gets here, it looks lovely. So anyone who missed our should try this morning. Good luck everyone!

  6. Have you tried the other new Rouge Allure color Fleurie? Looks beautiful but it is very hard to tell when an item is on line purchase only.

  7. Addendum to the Sakura blush: just received an e-mail from Chanel that they cancelled my order. It must not really be available again. What is their problem? How could they let it be ordered then?

  8. Hi Anna, I just called Chanel and the rep said that it was out of stock for good and should have been taken off the website! I guess we have missed out. Crossing my fingers it will be stocked eventually in another store... Maybe Sak's exclusive this year! (I hear Nordstrom is getting a beautiful lace-print powder for their Anniversary sale.)
