There are apparently 12 new eye shadow quads (edited - there are eight). Some of them look suspiciously like quad I already have (edited - because they were!), but I'm very anxious to see and play with them. Perhaps they improved the formula, like Chanel did? I'm leaving these Clé de Peau photos up because they are beautiful - as pretty as anything else I could use to jazz up this Friday Forum.
The photos here are the last (spring) collection, which Clé de Peau unfortunately still has labeled "new" on its Web site. I think when a truly new collection hits the counters, the Web site should be updated.
Anyhow, I'm very excited about the fall collection, as well as what's coming from other companies for fall and holiday. I got a sneak peak at Chanel's holiday collection, and I can only tell you to save your money. You are going to want one of everything - and I've got some Chanel friends who would love to help you part with your money (wink).
This makeup has helped take my mind off the tragedy of the Malaysian Airlines plane crash, which horrifies me. What kind of sick mind set could lead people to shoot down a civilian airliner? How on earth did humans become so heartless? If the pro-Russian rebels did it, what did they hope to gain?
On to a happier subject, it's time for our weekend sharing, the Friday Forum. I love this part of our week. What new products did you discover this week? Did you find any deals you couldn't resist? Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Do you have a question others might be able to answer? Want to talk about skin care? What's new in your life? Just use the comments. Don't be shy. Just make sure to ask any question you might have over the weekend. By early the next week, most (not all) readers will have moved on.
Update: I went to Neiman Marcus. Score! I saw all eight of the new Clé de Peau Beauté quads and selected three, #301, #302, and #305. I found it interesting that a majority of the quads had at least one lavender shade in them - clearly a trend. That disappointed me, given my personal preferences. The photo above shows my selections. There are three new lipsticks, but only the testers have arrived. I have my eyes on one of them. As soon as I can, I will swatch these new fall quads for you.
No need to comment further on the spring photos. I'm leaving them up for eye candy.

Hi CG -
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the fall Cle de Peau collection! And will wait for your swatches with baited breath!
You may want to look at this post about the new fall collection http://rougedeluxe.blogspot.ca/2014/06/cle-de-peau-fall-2014.html . Looks like there are 8 new quads - and every colour is now the same size! - your post shows the current quad collection.
Happy Friday!
Interesting, but those do look a lot like the current collection. I don't want to post a link to another blog, but my understanding was the CdP was launching its new line of 8 eyeshadow quads and other bits and pieces end of August in Japan (I would think they would launch there first, but you never know!). The new quads look very different, with all pans being the same size, unlike the current palettes. I think the new collection is called Beaute Celeste? Anyhow, can't wait for you to see them and let us know :)
ReplyDeleteY'all, I saw Rouge Deluxe (one of my fave blogs), and while I agree it's weird that we are getting the collection before Japan, I'm delighted.
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteThe photos of quads here are actually the old quads, which is why they look familiar. For example, #211 and #212 are the Spring 2014 quads (Peach Brown and Plum Brown, I believe) and the #201 you are eyeing has been around forever. The lipsticks posted are also from the Spring 2014 collection. The new quads look completely different, with the size of all four shadows the same (I saw a promo shot at Barney's yesterday).
Hope this helps clear up the confusion....
Oh, dear! I'm not quite sure what to say other than perhaps you "pasted" in part of an older post by mistake? The pictures and descriptions you've posted are from the spring La Bohème collection; not fall's La Beauté Céleste. The new color collection will have 8 new quads, 3 lipsticks, and 2 mascaras, the second wave will have the new foundations and brushes, and the third wave will have new skin care. Of course, that's assuming we get everything here in the US. Boy, you could have knocked me over with a feather when Jo said the quads were available. I was expecting to see them late in August. I took a look at them online at Saks (New Arrivals), but since they are not LE's, I'll hold off purchasing until I get the chance to see and swatch in person.
ReplyDeleteMore and more beautiful product pictures of Tom Ford's fall collection are surfacing. I'll be interested in seeing the model promo picture for the collection when it is released. I'm sure it will be a sexy one. With product names like Nude Dip, Softcore, and Negligée, how could it be anything else? As for my TF Unabashed palette, that has been my constant traveling companion this summer. Talk about effortless summer chic! Ah, Mr. Ford! You continue to sweep me off my feet :-)
I've been getting so much pleasure out of my new Chanel quads. The more I use them, the more pleased I am with how they function. I know I'll quickly settle into preferred applications, but right now I'm having fun playing around with them. Chanel's launch has certainly been one of the more successful ones. We've seen some gorgeous eyeshadow releases this season, but Chanel's seems to have eclipsed them--at least for me :-)
I haven't been particularly impressed with Marc Jacob's foray into makeup, but I did acquire his concealer brush and quite like it. It has an interesting bevel shape so that it fits perfectly into the sunken inner corner area of my eyes which is where I need brightening. I use it to stipple on a bit of concealer and then blend. It's working better for me than the traditional small paddle shaped brush.
That's it for me. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend as we move into the dog days of summer.
Dilemmas, dilemmas! I have been looking online at the new Chanel quads and can't decide which one would be best. Any recommendations for hazel eyes (I'm on the deeper end of hazel versus the brighter eyes)?
ReplyDeleteI was looking at CdP today thinking I might buy something. I'm glad I didn't now that the fall collection will be coming soon. It sounds quite interesting, then again many of the fall collections look particularly lovely.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I am finally taking a week off from work to relax, maybe do a short excursion somewhere, who knows? :)
Hi CG, your three selections are gorgeous, a couple of them have my name written all over them. I can't wait to see them in person and I look forward to your swatches. There are going to be three new glosses introduced at some point this fall as well (Beauty Gypsy has the scoop on those). Beaute Celeste is an appropriate name for the collection, the eye shadows look a bit celestial.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend everyone!
Now you've done it! You'll have all us CdP fans salivating in anticipation of your quad swatches :-). I think the color combinations have a very Asian sensibility and remind me of a lot of the quads I saw when I was in Tokyo this past spring. I wonder if the finish will be similar.
ReplyDeleteI went to Nordstrom to see the new quads. I was most excited about Tisse Venitien. However, the SA really discouraged me from getting it, saying that it is the one quad that is very shimmery. She then recommended all of the neutral ones. I wanted something more fun but not too crazy (and I have my eyes on the neutral Tom Ford fall quad, and I don't have a huge makeup collection...). I'm 37, very very fair skin with cool undertones, dark green hazel eyes. What do you think? Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, those new eye shadow palettes look gorgeous! I'm lusting over the one with the green/olive shade.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made too many beauty purchases lately. I did pick up the Chanel highlighter from Nordstrom's Anniversary sale, but I'm debating on keeping it because it does look a bit warm/dark for my fair skin. I tend not to like highlighters that lean golden on me. Did anyone else purchase it? How do you like it?
I desperately want one of the new Chanel quads, but since they're permanent and funds are tight, I'm not rushing out to buy any yet. Other than that, it's quiet in the beauty world for me!
The fall preview of Tom Ford collection looks interesting too. Also I am not sure if I should pick the Nordstrom exclusive Chanel DENTELLE PRÉCIEUSE ILLUMINATING FACE POWDER...
ReplyDeleteThe new chanel quads are stunning. Cle de Peau is a very new brand for me, but if I have to buy something, I will start with their Illuminating powder and concealer.
Evelyn, check it out during your week off. It's a pretty collection - even upside down (as I photographed one of the quads). :)
ReplyDeleteEileen, I think you nailed it when you wrote "Asian sensibility."
ReplyDeleteChristina, my eyes went straight to that one. So did those of the gal from another counter who was hanging out with me.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 5:58, I agree with my Chanel buddy who said, "The quads are not frosted, but have a luminous sheen which will soften aging and camouflage lines and wrinkles on the lids." Go for what you want!
ReplyDeleteI love the Cle de peau singles before they were discontinued....not the current singles but the ones where you can put in empty containers. They were 15 dollars then. There was one blue I could not live without and I bought 5 before they were gone. The lasted all day without primer.
ReplyDeleteHi CG! I have my eyes on Tisse Vientien. ....but I also own Dior Bonne Etoile...do you think they are similar? ? I know you have this because I bought the dior after the beautiful swatches you did!! =)
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Charlotte tilbury scrupt and highlight powder and the Chanel highlighter from the Nordstrom anniversary sale...very excited as I should receive them today!
Really enjoy reading your posts..thanks much!
Have a nice weekend everyone.
Will the new Cle de Peau quads fix in the case old quad cases? I like that all the colors are now the same size.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 7:34,
ReplyDeleteTwo of the shades are definitely similar. If I can find time, tomorrow I can do a side-by-side comparison.
Thanks CG! But only if it's convenient for you.
DeleteAnonymous 7:23,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sad to lose something you love? That's why I started buying back-ups of everything I loved...and only recently stopped.
Hi Anonymous @ 5:58
ReplyDeleteI'm 70 and rock Vénitien :-). It doesn't have to be applied like the dramatic metallic look seen in the promo picture. It's luminous and crates a soft, hazey green look. The only shade I have to use with discretion is the shimmery silver taupe. That particular shade does sparkle so I like to use a soft squirrel brush to lightly sweep it on my brow bone to create a delicate veil of shimmer. Other times I've used it as a liner beneath my lower lashes. I'd never put it in the inner corners of my eyes, though, as that would be de trop.
I think there are still a lot of SA's out there who subscribe to the outdated and silly notion that once you're past forty, you can only wear neutral mattes. Poppycock! If you like Vénitien, go for it. I've worn it a couple of times now and have had people randomly comment on what beautiful eyes I have. It's a beautiful palette and if it makes you happy, you should have it.
Hi Anonymous @ 7:34,
Vénitien has a much cooler quality to it. It is soft and hazey and creates a subtle smoky eye tinged with delicate green. Very, very pretty. Bonne Étoile has a warmer, denser quality to it and veritably shouts, "Autumn!" Vénitien is Water; Bonne Étoile is Earth.
Hi Eileen, Thanks for your response! You also responded to my question on another blog :-)
DeleteSo should I go for the tisse venitien? I am Asian, cle de peau foundation O20 shade. Which other new chanel quad do u recommend? Thanks!
S., that's a good question. I will find out.
ReplyDeleteSometime soon, I need to write a bible on how to wear whatever shades you want! It's all a matter of placement and knowing your finishes. I think I can simplify it, but I need someone who can draw eyes.
ReplyDeleteAfter salivating over many exciting posts over recent weeks I finally made it over to the Houston Galleria to Neiman Marcus to check out Eve Lom and Chanel Beauty Fall. Eve Lom = DENIED! They don't carry it! so disappointed! I was planning on SPENDING quite a bit of time at that counter (sigh). On to Chanel. What I found is that Chanel has finally made an eyeshadow formula that we enjoy in Tom Ford with softness and blendability (but maybe not intensity?)
ReplyDeleteI could not resist Poesie, or the blush in Innocence or, the lip in Intime or the nail in Abstraction or the macthing gloss. LOVE. I will enjoy working my way through this new eye palettes!
Hi Anonymous @ 11:42,
ReplyDeleteI think you'll love Vénitien. Go to makeup-box.com and you'll see a lovely tutorial using this quad. It will give you an idea as to how well it translates onto Asian coloring--beautiful! Simply beautiful :-)
Teri, I don't know what to tell you. The Chanel artists at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria are all new! I couldn't personally recommend any of them. I'll call a smart person at the store and ask.
ReplyDeleteIf you were to go to NM Mazza, I could recommend two artists!
For now, I'll send you to the best I know. Neiman Marcus, Mazza Gallery, Michael Reinhardt. LMdB, but he works in the bay with Chanel. Call first for appointment. 202-966-9700. He is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLisa, EVE LOM is only carried at two NM stores: Mazza and San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteTeri, she is still there. Works for EL. Blonde, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't think any amount of make-up could make me forget the airplane tragedy. It's just tragic. Something like this could start WW III.
ReplyDeleteTeri, I'm wondering now if you are thinking about a sales associate who hung around the La Mer counter. She left for health reasons. That one was polarizing: you either loved or disliked her. She was a shark. I'm checking on her name with a friend who worked there.
ReplyDeleteThe blonde Heidi is a sweetie and still there.
I know you will love Michael. His skill is unparalleled. He is better than most national MUAs. He applies makeup for real woman, not some idealized mannequin who sticks out in a small crowd. :)
