We are supposed to have a hard freeze tonight, so I know Mama Eagle will work hard to cover her babies and move nesting materials over them. She has had a rough few weeks. Our dogwoods are just starting to bloom, and those blossoms could get frosted.
Our average last freeze is April 15, so I guess this winter weather should be expected, but we believed and trusted that groundhog!
I'm seeing Marcus Monson tomorrow, and I hope to get a look at the Terracotta 00 that was reformulated. I hope Neiman Marcus has it. I'll let you know if I see anything interesting - from any line.
Sephora is having its spring sale. If you are a VIB Rouge member, you probably know. While fifteen percent isn't a goldmine, every dollar counts. Bobbi Brown has also been having a Friends & Family sale, with 20% off everything. Bobbi's sale lasts through tomorrow.
Even though it's late - sorry - it's time for our Friday and weekend conversation. The Friday Forum has always been an opportunity to share information. Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Tell us about it! Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Tell us why! Do you have questions others might be able to answer? We can help! Want to talk about skin care? I'm game. Just use the comments. We have busy weekends and slow ones on the forum. I hope you are ready to share. See you in the comments.

If you bought anything, what did you get from the Sephora sale? I bought the Guerlain Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls. I've never tried it before. I use Guerlain's foundation and their "balls" so I thought this might be the best primer.
ReplyDeleteI haven't hit checkout yet. I'm being frugal. I'm sure I will order.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up a few things at the Sephora sale this time around. I bought TF's Jasmin Rouge. It's a delightful spring time scent and reminds me of the jasmin that drapes over large sections of the back fence of our property. The plants actually belong to the neighbors, but they've grown up and over the fence to magnificent result. The thousands of pink, fragrant flowers are simply glorious come spring. Let's see, the only color cosmetic I bought was a YSL Gloss Volupté in Jersey Pink. It doesn't have a lot of color, but it's exactly what I was looking for--something to add a hint of pink and a bit of shine to my lips on low maintenance days. I also bought some skin care. I bought Tatcha Overnight Memory Serum and Jack Black Protein Booster Serum. For my sons, I bought some Clarisonic brush heads for their Fits. They really like those, by the way. Whether they're clean shaven or sporting a beard, they think the Fit is awesome. Other than those few things, there really wasn't all that much I needed or wanted this time around. My shopping list is always considerably longer for the Nov. Friends and Family event because I make a lot of holiday gift purchases.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful visit with Marcus Monson, Charlestongirl. He's such a talented MA and a delightful person. The last time I saw him, he asked menhow many years he has been doing my makeup. I kind of fumbled along and said 4-5. He said no, it was more like 7. Well, he was right :-). I took a trip down memory lane (looking at my old charts) and he has been doing my annual tuneup for the past 7 years. Does that mean I should mention him in my will?!? LOL Anywa, have fun :-)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
I am getting accustomed to the Guerlain Carousel Meteorites and am still looking for the ideal brush to use any Meteorites. The little spheres often get stuck in the brush and then fall into the sink or onto the floor. Also, I purchased the Chanel Nr. 5 oil.
ReplyDeleteThe Chanel cool effect eye shadow pen in Rose Pedale is very beautiful and gives a lovely sheen to the eye lid without shimmer. This is my most favorite of these pens to date.
Have a good weekend.
Tanja
Eileen, I have a question for you. You mentioned figuring out how to wear a new Chanel quad in Tisse Particulier on Non Blonde. Would you mind sharing? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanja,
ReplyDeleteI use Tom Ford's large bronzer brush with my Météorites. It's large and dense, but nice and soft on the face. It fits perfectly into the Météorites container and doesn't pick up the pearls. It also works well with the compact versions. It's an investment, but because I use different finishing powders depending on the effect I want, I actually own two of them so I always have a clean one ready to go should I switch product. I use them to apply finishing powder to my face, neck, and décolletage and the large size makes application a breeze. I also find tha despite the density of the brush, it doesn't pick up an excessive amount of product.
As for Carousel, I lightly sweep that in a large, diffused C shape and then go back and lightly pop the brush where I want a bit more color. It gives me a nice rosey highlight that looks lovely with a hint more blusher, blended into my bronzer (Guerlain 00), or used all on its own. Because my skin is light, the color does register but it is delicate. I've gotten so many comments from people telling me what luminous skin I have. Thank you Guerlain ;-)
Hi Lena,
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me describe my eyes. I have a large movable lid, my eyes are moderately deep set, no hooding whatsoever, and I have a large browbone area. In short, I've got a large play area and can easily wear several colors at once :-) I have black lashes and brows and the color of my eyes is a deep, warm, mossy green.
First, I apply the rose gold to the entire eyelid and extend it into the crease. I then apply the ivory over the browbone. Next, I apply the warm pink on the orbital bone between the two colors and blend it up into the ivory and down into the rose gold. It serves as a bridge color between the two and what I end up with is a gradient of color that flows from rose gold, to warm pink to ivory. Now, this is where the magic happens. I smoke the blue along my upper and lower lashes and into the outer V, blending it out into the crease. Where the blue merges with the rose gold and pink, it creates a lovely twilight color. I then dampen a brush (I like a MAC 09 for this), pick up some more of the dark blue goodness, and go over my upper lash line; creating a stronger blue presence. I tightline my upper lashes with black to give my eyes more definition and use black mascara on my upper and lower lashes to finish it off. It might sound like a lot, but I can do it very quickly because I know my eye shape so well. Play with it a bit and you're sure to find the perfect color placement for your eyes to create that sunset into twilight effect I was talking about on Gaia's blog. Good luck with it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I will look into the TF brush. I know Sabrina has written good things about it, too. Or the newish Chanel finishing powder brush. Funny and great that you mention Tissé Particulière. I put that on hold on Thursday. Love the rose gold and blue and will soon try your technique advice. Thanks again
Tanja
I was bad today. I will have news and photos very soon. Marcus told me about some new Guerlain products while he did my makeup. I've got Dior, Chantecaille, and Tom Ford to show you. And Guerlain, of course.
ReplyDeleteA funny from my time with Marcus. He has seen men walk by the counter and pick up Météorites, thinking they were candy, and then spit them out. How crude! But hilarious.
I can't wait to write. Right now, I've got my eyes on the eagles. We are having 50 mph wind gusts, and the nest is rocking and rolling. This morning, we had big, wet snowflakes. Bizarre!
Eileen, I have Jasmine Rouge. I like it, but I'm not sure where I hid it from myself.
Tanja, I have a Marcus tip for you. I'll write it up tomorrow.
Can anyhow school me on how to use the Le Metier De Beaute 'Revitalizing Hydro Red Algae & Collagen Mask?" I cannot find directions online anywhere? I received it as a bonus piece with my last Le Metier order. The package has 2 pieces and I have no clue on where to begin. Thank you whomever you are!
ReplyDeleteTrud, I can. It's the shape of a face with cut-out slits for the eyes and mouth. Unfurl it and place firmly on your face. Leave it on as long as you want. I did 20 minutes during a rest. Then take it off. You do not need to wash your face.
ReplyDeleteThe mask was a "pre-fab" purchased by LMdB. It was not created just for them. That's why it came without directions.
Oh, Charlestongirl! I do hope you can find your Jasmin Rouge. One of things I particularly like about it is how well it blends with other scents. I wear it on its own and like to lightly mist it in my long hair or on the back of my neck when I wear my hair up but then I also like to layer it with Shaghai Lily or Fleur de Chine. It's such a pretty jasmin.
