The Friday Forum - July 8
Although it was difficult to get the makeup looks after Chanel's fashion show in Cuba (I got them, but was told I couldn't share them), AOL came through and showed us the looks from the Fall/Winter 2016 Couture Runway. Make sure to pop over to the link above to see all the details.
For future introductions - for those who want to keep their eyes open for upcoming introductions, for the lips, pick up some ROUGE ALLURE lip color in Rouge Ingénue (launching in July 2016) and ROUGE ALLURE INK Matte liquid lip color in Amoureux (out in October 2016).
This has been our first hot week of the summer. With temperatures in the mid-90's, it finally feels like a DC summer. I've been dressing down, even at work. For some reason, my jungle cat loves this weather. He has his favorite chair on the screened porch, and he sits there every afternoon and evening until I force him to come inside. I've been trying to go to sleep early on weeknights. Unfortunately, someone always calls around 8:45 or 9:00. Once Charlie and I jump to the sound of the phone ringing, it's hard to get back to sleep. For some reason, late-evening calls scare him. He's usually half-way to the hallway before he realizes it was just the phone.
I have plenty of photos still to show you from my marathon photo session last Saturday. I plan to do another session this weekend. I have to find the time to write the features that go with them while the products are still "fresh." Wednesday, I received the new Marc Jacobs blushes, and I really want to try them. It's my rule that I have to get "virgin" photos first. Yesterday, I received a box of Clinique items that are very nice. Clinique has really upped their game lately.
It's time for the Friday Forum. The Friday Forum has always been an opportunity to share information. Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Tell us about it! Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Tell us why! Do you have questions others might be able to answer? We can help! Want to talk about skin care? I'm game. Just use the comments. We have busy weekends and slow ones on the forum. I hope to see you in the comments.

Can't wait for Chanel's new fall collection. I love red lipstick. I'm also really looking forward to Nordstrom anniversary. Chanel has a really nice set with an eyebrow duo, a brush and a new mascara. It comes with a really cute pouch. They also have some really good skincare sets from Amorepacific, SKII and La Prairie.
ReplyDeleteAnahita, I have to go find a friend there who will sell to me w/o a Nirdstrom card. I refuse to open a card just to get access to anniversary sales that have become mostly mediocre.
ReplyDeleteNot that I care for the Chanel makeup application (I definitely don't) but I followed the link to see the other pictures. I was floored when I read that Tissé Particulier was used. That couldn't be right! That beautiful rose gold palette with a pop of deep twilight blue created that chalky, flat looking mess?!? Tissé Particulier is one of my favorites and that look the model is sporting is absolutely nothing like the sunset into evening magic that Particulier creates. As we know, when MA's are creating looks for the runway, photo shoots, etc., they often use additional products and various mixtures that never get mentioned, but this one just seemed beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteI received my Marc Jacob's blush and it is quite nice. It does seem to wear better than average and it creates a nice glow. On my more mature skin, I really dislike matte blushes. Although they can look quite sophisticated, they harken back to the über matte look of the 50's which is best left back in the 50's. LOL As I've grown older, I prefer a soft, luminous look that is more forgiving; that is more like real skin. But whether you're a youngster or an oldster; Marc Jacobs' new stripped blushers are worth consideration.
The only other beauty item I've purchased just lately is Bobbi Brown's Luxe Lipstick in Neutral Rose. It's one of those eminently wearable everyday MLBB shades that Bobbi is famous for creating. A friend of mine has been raving about the formula and so I thought I'd give it a go. It is densely pigmented, yet moisturizing and it wears quite well even with a touch of balm over it. My lips are so dry that balm is my BFF :-) I don't know about the other colors, but Neutral Rose looks effortlessly chic. It's the kind of color you'd expect from Edward Bess. It doesn't shout, rather it is poised and polished. I think I'd like to try Hibiscus come fall but will wait to see what is coming out with the collections first.
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Fourth of July weekend. It was very low key here chez moi, just my husband and I, but we did spend time working in the gardens much to the delight of the dogs seeing as we were doing a lot of digging. Huskies are big diggers, climbers, jumpers, you name it; they do it with great joy :-)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
Hi Anahita,
ReplyDeleteI always stock up on Antica Farmacista room fragrance during the sale. The guys in my life love "Proseco" and I love "Bergamot & Ocean Aria" and "Fiori d'Arancio, Lillà e Gelsomina". It will be interesting to see what special gifts and goodies they have in cosmetics. There is usually much more going on than what is in the catalogue and the SA's are always very generous with samples--at least they are at my Nordies. I seldom purchase much clothing (except for bras!) because it's just too early for me to be contemplating my autumn/winter needs. Happy shopping!
Eileen, that was the only close-up in AOL's article. I could have sworn other models were done differently. Look at the one with the heavy under-eye. Perhaps the look had wide guidelines from Chanel?
ReplyDeleteEileen, I just got Bergamot & Ocean from Beautyhabit's sale. Great diffuser!
ReplyDeleteI am wearing the Chanel Fall 2016 quad. We decided not to use the brick red shade on my eyes since I'm allergic to so many red dyes. I'll tell you, though, it makes a goegeous blush!
ReplyDeleteI have a photo of myself I'll post tomorrow. I also have photos of most of the Fall and Holiday collection items. I'll give you some news tomorrow.
If you go on Tom Pecheux's instagram there are more examples of the look. The lashes look like they are dipped in blue. My suspicion is theatre makeup but then it could have been the shadow loaded onto a M.A.C. paint pot base.

Hi Charlestongirl,
ReplyDeleteYou got to play with Chanel Fall 2016! Lucky you! I can hardly wait to see your pictures. The promo pictures of Candeur et Exérience with its rich woodland tones look so autumnal and I actually think the red is quite wearable: subtle to add warmth or bold to add drama. In autumn I often use a russet color applied lightly just above the contour and use it as "bridge" color by blending it down into a rich brown contour and up into a warm ivory or soft gold browbone highlight. It's a combination that really opens up my dark, warm green eyes and looks quite sultry. I'm sonexcited about Chanel's fall collection :-)
Am I the only one who is totally unimpressed with the Nordstrom Anniversary beauty selection?
