Awww...a bit disappointed that there is no beautiful limited edition face powder... I was hoping for a new Météorites Pearls or a beautiful pressed powder compact . Hoping their Holiday collection will include these. I believe most of my Guerlain brushes are natural hair, (but please correct me if I am wrong). I am surprised that they have included a synthetic one in this collection . I am still using and liking my pre-reformulated "Lingerie de Peau" foundation. Any word on the reason for the re-formulation?

ReplyDeleteThey never tell us why they reformulated anything. It's always to make it better in some way. Usually, that's how it turns out. :)

ReplyDeleteI'll be due for a new foundation come September and so I'm looking forward to giving the reformulated one a go. Looking at the shade chart you posted yesterday, I see that my shade 02 is not one of the ones that "migrated" (stayed the same) so I'll want to get color matched. While I'm at it, I'll take a look at the new concealer. It's one of makeup's ironies that those of us who could benefit the most from a good, natural looking concealer (seniors ;-) ) are the ones who have the most difficulty finding something that is suitable. I'm fortunate in that I don't have crows feet or many wrinkles in the eye area, but I do have "crinkles"---you know, that crepey texture caused by a loss of elasticity. I also have some age related darkness in the inner and outer corners of my eyes which is due to the eyeball losing its supporting tissue and sinking further back into the skull. I know, what a visual! LOL Anyway, I've yet to find a concealer that effectively brightens the eye area without eventually migrating into my "crinkles"; making them look worse than they were to begin with. Alas, concealer looks best on smooth, youthful skin. Formulas are improving by leaps and bounds; however, and seem to have an elastic quality about them which permits them to flex with facial expressions rather than creasing. It would be nice if Guerlain has accomplished that in a concealer. We shall see . . .

ReplyDeleteNatural hair absorbs more liquid than synthetic and that is the major reason why it is not the first choice for a foundation or concealer brush. Natural hair can do a wonderful job of applying liquid makeup (Tom Ford's goat hair foundation brush is incredible!) but most people don't like all the foundation that is absorbed into the brush because it is wasteful and it is more difficult to remove. Synthetic fibers don't have those problems and so they're usually preferred. Nothing surpasses hair, though, for the application of powders.
