I'm naming this Bobbi Brown Week! The palette, shown above, contains exclusive shades of two Long-Wear Cream Shadows in Dove Grey (a matte taupe) and Honey Glaze (warm, pearly beige) for soft neutral eyes, two Long-Wear Gel Eyeliners in Mahogany Ink (dark ashy brown) and Black Topaz (black chestnut with golden pearl) to turn up the intensity, and a double-ended brush. After you wrote about this back in December, I purchased it and really like the colors. They are great for everyday wear. I'm still learning to apply the gel liner, and really like it also. I do like the brush for the liner, any tips for applying it?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty conservative, Lisa. I like to apply my liner as thin as possible and as close to the lash base as I can. That way, it makes my lashes look full without a "serious" appearance of liner. Use the flat side of the liner brush.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a little practice, and I mess up now and then. I have to use a Q-Tip with eye makeup remover to fix it, often messing up the shadow I had already put on. Have to reapply that when I make a mess. :)
Loyd applies liner on me with a slightly wider line at the outer edge of my eyes. Lots of artists do that, and it can look good, depending on the rest of the eye "look" you have selected.
Thanks...I like a very thin line also...guess it will just take some practice! Luckily I have one of those 10X makeup mirrors, so I can at least see what I'm doing! The gel liner is really nice. I bought one in a bronze color this summer and really liked it.
ReplyDeleteDoes Loyd ever come to Houston? Wonder if the makeup artist at the Saks here is as good as he is! May have to check it out. I'm just not a big fan of the Galleria and prefer to shop at smaller stores near my neighborhood.
I will tell Loyd he needs to go to Houston! I'll let you know his reaction - I'll see him Thursday.
ReplyDeleteFortunately (for us in the DC area), he is the Armani manager/artist at Saks in Chevy Chase, so he doesn't have to travel.
As a rule, I like small stores too! That's one reason I love to buy fragrances at Art with Flowers.
Keep practicing - you'll get the knack.
