Clé de Peau for Spring 2011 Preview and Swatches

Makeup for Spring 2011 has been an embarrassment of riches. What seemed to be "as good as it gets" just got better. The new Clé de Peau eye and lip colors just arrived at stores, and there are must-have eye color quads among them.

I am writing this preview to show you the Eye Color Quads ($55) and swatches quickly. I will do a more thorough job when I have more time. I was so blown away by the pretty eye shadows, I couldn't wait to show you.

The palettes in my photo at left are #206, at top, and #207. The overlay with Clé de Peau's logo gives them a very classy look, but you will lose those logos as soon as you use the shadows.

Here are two swatch photos. I swatched from left to right in the palettes as shown above. I used a sponge-tipped applicator to apply the shadows, and I took the photos indoors in sunlight. Eye shadow quad #206 is shown at right. I think these shades are luscious. Quad #207 is shown below left. Again, the shades are lust-worthy. In a spring with lots of greys, the two in #207 are gorgeous. If you are a Clé de Peau fan, how could you resist buying both?

These palettes in my photo above look a bit strange because Clé de Peau sells the case for their quads separately, and I won't pay for it. I can deal with plastic just fine, and I don't plan to take them anywhere. I would rather have more makeup than pay for the compacts.

I will show you more swatches of these lovely eye shadows, along with my new lip colors, tomorrow.

  1. Hi Charlestongirl!
I do love them too, they seem perfect for Spring don't they!

  2. Hi Clarisse!

I think these shadows are fabulous. I am so thrilled with them!

PT is painful and exhausting, but necessary. Now I have a fancy splint I have to start wearing to straighten my leg more than I can. Starting at two hours/day and working up to more. Oh joy!

  3. I am curious to find out more about the new foundation CdP is putting out. I love its foundations, except for the refining fluid (I think that's the name). I can't wait to see the swatches of new extra silky lippies. Yay!

  4. Hi there, Liz!

My SA at Neiman Marcus tells me the foundation is fabulous. She brought me a sample last night. I will let you know as soon as I wear it. Today was nuts, and it may be Friday before I can give it a good test. Am now wearing a splint to straighten my leg, so movement is limited.

  5. I must say thank you for all your hard work keeping us beauty/makeup crazy gals informed about new products especially amidst your PT. As always, thank you.

  6. "An embarrassment of riches." What an understatement! The spring collections have been extraordinary this year. Guerlain, Chanel, Dior, Nars, Lancome, Clinique; the list just goes on and on. I've been eagerly awaiting CdP's new quads and have been curious about the new foundation. The timing of your review is perfect since it's coming just in time for Neiman's beauty event.

Like you, I'm fine with the plastic package the quads come in. And, since I'm not buying the case, the eye shadow quads are actually reasonably priced and are in line with Chanel, Dior, etc. If I factor in the superb quality of the shadows themselves and the beautiful color combinations that stay color true all day without any creasing, why they're a veritable bargain--or at least that's how I justify the number of them that I buy! LOL

Take good care of yourself, Charlestongirl. Slow and easy wins the race.

  7. These palettes seem rather sheer, really pretty but sheer and shimmery. Are they buildable?

  8. I so wish I could buy Clé de Peau in the UK! The bottom quad is just gorgeous (and they had me when they used Amanda Seyfried as their campaign model...)

  9. Good morning everyone!

Last night I started wearing my torture splint. I watched Idol to distract myself. :)

Liz, This is a labor of love, but sometimes it is hard to get everything done, with growing demands as I have started working from home as many hours as I am not working on my therapy. Times like this, I remember to go buy lotto tickets!

Eileen, I will get better swatches, with luck, today. I had to grab these really fast. Like the other quads, these are magnificent.

Thanks for mentioning Beauty Event! I will post it this weekend.

Slow is the only mode I have now. It's a serious change for a go, go, go girl.

Joolz, definitely buildable. Sheer too. That is what I love about them.

Leonie, no online sources either? Very sad! Call a US store and ask what they would charge to send to you. It is very expensive. When I have shipppped to France with insurance, the cost has amazed me. Makes it hard!

  10. Above, you see my one iPad annoyance. The "key" with the "p" is more sensitive than the others, so I usually get a typo. I have not been able to get to the Apple store to see if it can be fixed.
