YSL Beauté Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner for Fall 2011 - Two More Shades

After I showed you YSL Beauté Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner for Fall 2011 ($35) in Sea Black this past weekend, I decided I loved it so much I need more shades. I purchased No 3 Bronze Black, shown at right above, and No 6 Jade Black, shown at left above. They are both exquisite.

These liners apply like the best gel liners - smoothly and easily - almost magically. They will stay on your lids until you're ready to remove them - and then some. While the new liners are not marked waterproof, I have to remove them with an oil-based long-wear eye makeup remover.

I wanted to show you my latest treasures, but we've had the remnants of a tropical storm hanging around for days. Because I was at Neiman Marcus today, I took in-store photos of the two shades I purchased in my second round and some swatch photos. I'll show you one of the swatch photos (it's so hard to get great light in a department store). I applied the three shades in a thick line with a liner brush.

Jade Black is shown at the top of my arm. Look at the magnificent emerald color! Bronze Black is amazing. It's bronze, but it has a khaki cast that won my heart. I also swatched Cherry Black because it's popular and pretty. I could even be convinced to wear a red tone on my eyelids with that one - almost.

I purchased my new YSL Beauté Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils Long-Wear Cream Eyeliners at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria. I'm sure they will be available at all YSL counters soon. For now, I can tell you with certainty that Neiman Marcus Tysons received them. You are going to love everything about them.

Update: I caved and bought Cherry Black. It's really gorgeous. Next, I guess I'll buy the rest of them.

  2. Hi Lovethescents,

I am literally in love with all of them. It took willpower not to buy every color. The Bronze Black is very special. :)

  3. Do they also have the mascara there? I think it's called Shocking?

  5. Hi Schelli,

Yes, and I took photos of several of the shades today. It's beautiful. I'm going to try mine out and then post it.

  6. Thanks for adding the swatch of Cherry Black. If it's as pretty in person, I think it will be amongst my new best friends. I love colors like that as liners. Seeing as I wasn't captivated by this fall's offerings, Cherry Black just might be the thing to get to update some of my palettes from last fall. It certainly is one of the colors of the moment. I'll have to put it on my list for Fashion Night Out. This year I'm going with a rather puny list, but as I've said before, it just means I'll have more room in my drawers for the holiday goodies :-)

  7. Thank you for these swatches (and the blue one from the other day) - I've been drooling over the stock photos of these liners for a month now and was so happy to see they're even prettier in real life! Definitely buying almost all of them. :D

  8. Hi Eileen,

I was so taken with it in the pot that I had to swatch it. Even though it may not be my best shade, I have to say, "I want it anyhow!" I may have to cave. :)

  9. Hi Curator!

I may end up with most of them too. I've spent so much, it's hard to justify, but...

Don't they look much nicer than those flat promo photos? :)

  10. Sigh, your new camera takes amazing pictures...which is bad for my heart! I cannot take these swatches! Like Eileen, I think I need Cherry Black as well. Sigh!

  11. Wow, these are very pretty too (I loved the navy you reviewed earlier). I really love that these liners aren't "flat", they aren't particularly shimmery or metallic, but there is just something very lovely about them and I bet it adds some "umph" to your eyes. :-) Thanks for the review!

  12. Hey Joey!

Believe it or not, that was my second new camera! I used the Canon over the weekend and decided I needed a second new camera. So Tuesday I bought (gasp) yet another one, which I love. The newest one is a new technology, and it's ultra portable. I can take it along and barely feel the extra weight. Now, I'm going back to my days as a camera junkie, which is not good for my wallet. I am actually coveting a second little number (for scientific comparison, of course).

I caved and bought Cherry Black.

  13. You are spot-on in that description, Bonnie!

  14. Hi C-Girl, Crystal, and all my other fellow product junkies - yes these YSL gel liners are so LUSTROUS! I can't get over how YSL nails the gem-tones of their cosmetics. They are also very smudge-resistant when applied - I had to use quite a lot of the eye makeup remover on my hand after playing with them. What is your pick for a blue-eyed, fair haired complexion?
Also - the NM Beauty Event starts today and the YSL gift is fabulous - a nice cosmetic bag with Rouge Pur Shine Lipstick, the Shocking Mascara, full-size Gommage, waterproof gel eyeliner pencil, and, of course, Opium, as it is YSL. If you scoop up some of these liners and a lippie, the YSL gift as WELL as the NM tote bag is yours -
    too much to resist!!!!!!!

  15. Miss Brahms! Blue-eyed, fair-haired complexion? You know we are a canvas for all the shades!

  16. Being a camera junkie is not a bad thing at all! I would love a new camera right now - cameras are my favorite big ticket item to splurge on =)

I'm glad you caved and purchased Cherry Black!

  17. I just need a few more jobs, or to win the lottery! I could have as many cameras as I'd like. :)

  18. These are just gorgeous! I am making a list right now of the ones I want, including Cherry Black. By the way, your new camera takes amazing pictures! One more thing to love about your top-notch blog!

  19. Thank you, Kate! I am loving the little camera I took these photos with. It's palm-sized and takes amazing photos. The technology is called four thirds. I'm still learning its features - just got it. Now I want another one! Seriously. I'm addicted to cameras again. That was very costly when I first started out taking flower photos years ago. Makes me wonder why I purchased that whole Canon set, which is large and heavy.

I got Cherry Black. It grew on me...really...it's so incredible!

  20. Hello Charleston girl, I've just found your blog & i'm loving it! Please share the brand of the second camera, the pictures are amazing!!! T

  21. Thanks, Smalls42404!

It's a Panasonic LUMIX Micro Four Thirds camera. The four thirds cameras are a fairly new technology that allows small size (great for me) and also the ability to use interchangeable lenses. I'm loving it!

I went into the store and tested makeup swatches with the four thirds cameras! The Panasonic beat out the Olympus for true color rendition. I'd highly recommend it, and I haven't scratched the surface of what it can do yet. :)

  22. BUT...the photos for this feature were taken with a Cannon EOS Rebel T3i. I bought it before I found the Panasonic. It's heavy - too heavy for me to carry to events.
