Bobbi Brown Creamy Color for Lips & Cheeks from the Desert Twilight Collection for Fall 2012

The austere black packaging of Bobbi Brown's limited-edition Creamy Color for Lips & Cheeks ($20) doesn't hint at the glorious sheer cream tint inside. It was only on first use, after sampling at Bloomingdale's, that I discovered how much I love it.

This double-duty, easy-to-use use, and comfortable-to-wear formula imparts a pretty, easily blendable flush on the cheeks while imparting a soft shine on the lips. Really, the only thing I can find wrong is that there are only two shades! I'd love to have 10, Bobbi! That plus the fact that it's a limited edition should spur you to buy both shades (like I did).

Pink Truffle and Honeyed Tea are both soft and sheer - one pink and one a believable brown. My swatch photos were taken in full sun. Although I should have applied the shades with a foundation brush, I used a sponge-tipped applicator because that's what I had at hand.

Pink Truffle is a perfect blush. It adds just enough neutral pink color to make me look perky all day. It has extremely nice staying power - much more than a powder blush. On my lips, it adds a soft pink tint that is also long-lasting, but the color doesn't last as long on my lips as it does on my cheeks. I eat and talk too much.

Honeyed Tea adopts a gorgeous shade when mixed with the natural pink in my cheeks. I can use it as a blush or to add dimension to the contours of my face. Either way, it's a beautiful brown. On the lips, I like to use it first, followed by a shimmery gloss in a champagne shade. Stunning!

These creamy, muted colors for lips and cheeks are sheer, making them particularly natural looking. I hope Bobbi Brown keeps them in the line and expands the color offering. Wouldn't you love to see a peach shade too? You can make one by mixing the two colors, but it would be nice to see a pink-peach straight from the little tube.

You can purchase the new Desert Twilight Collection for Fall 2012 at Bobbi Brown's Web site and Bobbi Brown counters everywhere. I have some exceptional lip glosses to show you next.

I've received requests for a feature on Twilight Night Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. So far, I haven't purchased it. I may break down, but I'm trying to stay within a budget. Otherwise, I'll be working until I'm 80.  I hope someone else features it soon. You have no idea how much it costs to support BTiB!

  1. Oooo, that Pink Truffle is so pretty. How do these compare to the pot rouge? They look much lighter and more sheer. I imagine there is more slip to them. I haven't played at a BB counter in awhile. Perhaps I should remedy that this coming week. I really like what you've been showing in the past few posts, especially that blusher-bronzer duo---or is it a bronzer-blusher duo ? LOL

  2. You are exactly right, Eileen. They are lighter, more sheer, and have much better slip.

Too funny...we've had quite a week for names!

  3. Goodness these are beautiful. I was hoping to only pick up the blusher/bronzer duo, but I am really liking the look of these. I'm hoping it will be okay for my oily skin--but if it has even more slip than the pot rouge than I'm not so sure...I guess I'll go and have a play at the counter and see if it's worth it for me!

and I can't even imagine how much money goes into all these products that you review for us, CG. Thank you! Truly, it's so nice to have such an amazing blog to read that has new posts daily and such wonderfully, totally lust-worthy, best of the best products to read about!

  4. Thank you, yesplease!

You might like the duo more. Since you get a pink and a brown shade with both (if you buy both tubes), why not go for the powder?

  5. Are they a gel- or cream-to-powder formula? I love how sheer and natural they look--and with staying power? I can't wait to try them!

  6. Have you ever tried the BECCA Beach Tints? I think the BB ones look more sheer and since you said they have more slip, I suspect they are quite different. The BECCA ones are almost like a stain, and I end up putting gloss over it when I use it on my lips. But these are very pretty. I suspect that they'll become a regular part of the line with more colors if they're popular...A girl can hope!

  7. Hi Isla, they are not cream to powder. Just cream to cream, if that makes sense.

  8. Hi MamaVal,

I got into Becca years ago, but at one point bought a product that smelled like a raccoon in heat. I returned it to Sephora and wrote off the line.

These are definitely not stain-like, as you guessed.

  9. Thank you for the review...well, actually, hmmm I think you really convinced me to buy them and that is not good for me!. I love BB products and I am a big fan of all her cream makeup (pot rouge amongst my favourite) and this new product seems like something I would really wear on a regular basis. I live in Spain and collections take ages to get here, I don't think I'll see it in counters before end of August.
