The stunning color of Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color is the result of a concentration of ultra-thin pigments specially designed to magnify shade intensity. Lighter hues have a "unique presence," revealing nuances and depth. Darker tones heighten the drama, with audacity and pure elegance for an ultra-feminine effect.
Color brilliance is only part of the story of Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color. Special hydrating agents and antioxidants, rich in green tea extract and sappan wood (East Indian redwood) will leave lips supple and protected for lasting comfort, while tea butter will ensure that your color endures for ultimate wear.
There are 16 shades of Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color - a dizzying array from which to choose. They are categorized as Reds, Corals, Pinks, and Beiges/Browns. As I tested them at Neiman Marcus, I found most of them to be intense (after all, isn't the intense lip - the red lip - the "thing" for the coming seasons?).
I bought a pink: Secrète (#92). What else? I will admit to being sorely tempted by one of the browns, but I wanted to wear my new Rouge Allure before I "went for broke." As a rule, I'm not entirely enamored by opaque, satin-finish lipsticks. I'm a Rouge Coco Shine kind of gal.
I watched our Chanel friends apply the new Rouge Allure on members of the press last week. They were using intense shades, and each of the brown-haired "models" that night looked fabulous.Their lips telegraphed "in-the-know." It's very stylish.
What can I tell you, now that I've worn the new Rouge Allure? It's opaque and offers a satin finish, with just a little radiance during the first 30 minutes. Any "shine" disappears after that. It does feel pretty good on my lips - not gooey as I like them - and it is long-lasting.
If you are a Rouge Allure fan, want to try this new version of the iconic lipstick, or are just curious about adding some drama to your fall look, get over to a Chanel counter. You can also see the shades and order at Chanel's Web site.

How would you describe the color? It looks alot like your swatch of the new Chante lip chic on my monitor and I thought Secrete was supposed to be mauvey/soft blue pink, so I'm a bit confused.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty - might be right up my alley! I'm not a fan of a very shiny lip - my lips are still pretty full, so I don't feel the need to make them look fuller using gloss - and I usually end up wiping it off if it feels too "gloppy".
ReplyDeleteI love that new Lip Chic you showed...and love the formula, so that's also on my list...
Hi CG, I was looking at these online just yesterday afternoon. Just from chanel.com (and we all know they don't have the best swatches/color representations)I was drawn to Secrete and Inimitable. Now you've given me a beautiful swatch and review of Secrete. *sigh* I'll add it to my ever-growing wish list.
ReplyDeleteRosemary
Hey CG! Thanks for the swatches! I've never tried any of Chanel lipsticks and these look perfect to make my first Chanel lipstick purchase. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteSecrète to my eye is not mauve. It's actually a warmer color. We played in the store with some blue pinks, but I decided to go with a shade that was more neutral.
Then you should love these, Bisbee!
ReplyDeleteBTW, that Lip Chic, Amour, is gorgeous.
Hi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteI find those little colors infuriating. :)
Hey there, Nikkia,
ReplyDeleteYou will be very stylish in one of these. :)
Hmmm . . . I'm still a bit ambivalent about these. Chanel opted to launch the new formula in a selection of intense and trendy colors which is fine with me. A new formula in new colors is what a re-vamping is all about. And, in truth, the old RA Luminous lineup was looking a bit tired and dated. From your personal description; however, I'm not so sure this will be for me. I imagine the new RA Intense could be tweeked a bit by using the color as a stain, blotting lightly, then adding a touch of gloss or balm, but that seems to defeat the purpose by significantly changing the intended look. Oh well, I guess there's just one thing to do. I need to stop by the counter and give the new RA Intense a try. After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained. And, if it's not for me, that's OK because it is sure to look great on so many other women.
ReplyDeleteVery excited about this latest Chanel lip color installment...thanks for the profile. Definitely want to try out some of the paler colors!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the week...
Hi Eileen, I'll be interested in your opinion. As you can tell, there are better lipsticks for me.
ReplyDeleteYou too, Beauty Prof!
ReplyDeleteLet us know what you think!
Thank you for sharing. That's a gorgeous colour; love Chanel's rouges allures.
ReplyDeleteooooh!!! i've been waiting for you to review these!!! so this saturday, i had to buy a lipstick.i went to the pan in almost everything from guerlain summer. i had an awful makeover that day. why must everyone make me look like i'm ready to go to a bar at night? everything is way too dreamatic, almost theatrical looking. at chanel, i purchased 2 lippies gracile and pimpante (spelling?). i purposely picked the 2 lightest shades for an understated look. these lipsticks, in my opinion, are not the greatest.very drying on my lips and almost "flat" looking.i wear tons of lip balm with these. i practically begged the sales associate for matching glosses but, she said you're really not suppose to use gloss with these. did you see peter philips video of these? they're described as crystal-like and are really dazzling in the video. i'm really considering returning these. i did not like the fall collection either. i guess i will have an "indian summer" and purchase items from their summer collection. they still have pieces left. not sure what to do???? xo.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlestongirl,
ReplyDeleteI just got back from the Chanel counter where I hand swatched three of the new RC's: Gracile (light rose beige), Séduisante (mid-toned rose), and Secrète (the beauty you selected). They applied with a slight silicon slip, but felt oddly dry. Not bad mind you; just different. The colors looked gorgeous and had a lovely soft sheen, but I remembered what you said about the sheen not lasting long; so I thought I'd go about my business and give them a chance to set. About 20-25 minutes later, I glanced at my hand and all three shades had turned a vibrant orange with slight pink undertone. Also, the three formerly distinct pinks had become virtually indistinguishable from each other! Quelle surprise! I've had lipsticks turn color on me before (usually deep, fiery fuchsia; not orange), but never Chanel. On my way out, I stopped by the Chanel counter again to show the charming SA. She laughed and said, "Well, I guess those are a fail--unless you like a lot--and I mean a lot--of orange!" LOL The only good thing I can say about them is that they wipe off cleanly and don't leave a stain; at least the colors I tried didn't. So, it looks like my beloved Rouge Allure is a thing of the past :-( Fortunately, there are so many other gorgeous, moisturizing formulas available.
Hi My Bathroom/Wardrobe,
Definitely test these before you purchase. They are nothing like the classic Rouge Allure Luminous formula we've come to know and love, nor are they like the Rouge Allure Velvet (matte) formulation that was recently introduced.
Hi Anonymous,
I know what you mean about that flat look because that is how my hand swatches dried down. If I were you, I'd definitely return them. I usually don't advocate doing that unless the product is faulty or I've had an allergic reaction, but sometimes returning an item is the best way to let a brand know that their idea was a fail.
Oops, in the opening I meant RA Rouge Allure; not RC Rouge Coco. There are so many formulations, I don't need to be contributing to the confusion :-P
ReplyDeleteHi My Bathroom, hope these are right up your alley.
ReplyDeleteHi again, Eileen. Ditto. Just ditto. :)
ReplyDeleteWelp, gonna cross these off my list based on comments here. The last thing I need is a lipstick that's dry on my lips.
ReplyDeleteRosemary
I tried the older Rouge Allure formula, and I found it really underwhelming... The shade I picked looked really flat and boring on me. I eventually gave it away.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this new formula could work better for me!
Well...based on Eileen's experience, I'll definitely have to see these at the counter first! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Lulle; Hi Bisbee,
ReplyDeleteDefinitely give these a test run at the counter before buying. My experience wasn't good, but if the formula works for you, then you'll have some beautiful options from which to choose. My only option turned out to be orange, orange, and more orange! LOL
Yes, do try them. I have 4 now and love everything about them from the colors to the feel to the lasting power. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love Rouge Allure. Now I want one of the twin set (launched for vfno), Provocation!
ReplyDeleteHi Kenderasia,
ReplyDeleteEveryone wants one of those twin sets. Pre-order if you can!
I purchased two of these so far and I LOVE them! So Pretty. I do think you can dab the brighter ones lightly on the lips as a stain which I like or wear them as a normal lipstick. I may pick up a few more later..... I have to wait a bit because I went overboard on the FNO Twin sets.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Nancy, everyone wants those twin sets. If I liked the whole "stain thing," I would think that's a perfect way to wear them. I'm just not that much into work to get what I want. I'm a lazy lipstick gal. No liner for me either.
ReplyDeleteNow I really want to cry I just found that the RA intense satin lip colour is actually the one they're discontinuing :( Now, I really have to run very quick to the counter now :(
ReplyDeleteI guess I can dab the glossy version on top of my new RA if I can't get hold of the old RA. *sigh*
