I spent part of my day with Tim Quinn, Giorgio Armani's best-known ambassador and makeup artist to the celebrity world. It's always a privilege to have my makeup perfected by Tim, and it was especially sweet today because he was in great demand at Neiman Marcus.
I'll admit, I admire Tim Quinn. Not only is he talented - I think he qualifies as a celebrity himself - he is a really nice person, one who often gives back at charity events. Tim is "real," fun, and easygoing. As I watched him work with the dozens of women who were there at any one time, I saw smiles and pretty faces. Just one example below...I watched Tim transform a pretty gal to a gorgeous one as he applied her makeup. Doesn't she remind you of Katie Holmes?

Charlestongirl, you are one sexy sexagenarian! And, you have great style, too. One glance at you and it is easy to see that you are an Armani kind of gal :-) One of the things I love about your blog as opposed to blogs specifically for over forty, over fifty, etc. is that you focus on beautiful cosmetics of exceptional quality and age be damned! Each and every decade has its own special beauty and the trick to looking good is knowing how to capitalize on it. You obviously have that down pat because you always look great. I'm sure MA's love working on you because you being knowledge, appreciation, and keen interest to the game. And then, you share that with us :-)

Oh, Charleston Girl, you are too beautiful and good hearted not to smile! Wrinkles and lines from smiling show your humor and love of life. If I did see any lines and if I thought badly about your visage because of them, then I have a vain mind that needs help. How can anyone live 40, 50 or 60 years and not have a wrinkle or line or a droop? Gravitational pull works on us all. Nobody likes too much droop or too many lines. The alternative is not to live or express our feelings at all. A face without a line is a mask.

ReplyDeleteI am 62 & love your blog. I'm in great shape, mountain bike, spin class etc and love makeup and fashion. I've made my two daughters promise to let me know if I look like I'm trying too hard or wearing stuff too young for me( and they would).That said, I want you to know I bring YOUR bio photo with me when I get my haircut, because I love the way it looks and want a similar style. And my hairdresser approves. You know what they say about imitation and flattery!

ReplyDeleteWhen I look at the lines in my forehead that show so much when I smile, I think about Paul Ryan and how badly he needs Botox. No, I would never do it (the idea of toxic injections doesn't appeal to me), but politicians (always in the public eye) who are prematurely aging should consider it. I noticed at the debate that his forehead lines were deep. And he wasn't smiling. :)

ReplyDeleteI think the learning process is so fun. That was what I enjoyed so much about working with Bobbi Brown - educating women to do several simple steps to make them feel better and prettier. Even tho' we've got it down, there are a LOT of women out there who are intimidated by makeup...and your blog helps IMMENSELY!
