Tom Ford Summer 2013 Beauty Collection Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust - Up Close and Personal
I am thrilled to continue my series of swatch photo features taken at my house immediately after applying items from this beautiful collection. The Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust (#03, $30) is the focus of this feature. Like Escapade, it is a stunning, shimmery peach-pink that coordinates beautifully with the golden tan collection.
I took my photos in full, mid-day sunshine. I swatched Pink Lust straight from the tube. I blended it out a bit, just like I'd do by smacking my lips after application. Come to think of it, this is a lip-smacking gloss.
On the lips, Pink Lust is a silvery peachy pink. The pigment of my lips provides the pink hue, and Pink Lust provides the peach. I hesitate to use the word "frosty" because I think the younger bloggers use it way too much to describe shimmery finishes. They weren't alive when we knew what frosty meant. However, Pink Lust merits the use of the word. It is frosty on my lips - it reminds me of long-ago decade.
As I mentioned in my earlier Escapade feature, the white dogwood background fools my camera, although in this case, it spotlights the finish of Pink Lust. I'm feeling pretty special as I wear it.
This Lip Lacquer is amazingly hydrating, without a trace of stickiness. It's divinely comfortable. It makes me feel beach-ready. When a lip color can change your mood, you know it's great.
If you plan to order and need help, please give Dustin Lujan a call. He will help you pick out the best colors for your complexion, based on his incredible eye as a makeup artist. You can reach him at (212) 872-2714. Yes, I'm promoting Dustin in his new position as the Tom Ford artist and representative at the John Barrett Salon. He's gifted, and I know you will love him.

I had to wait to stop drooling before I could comment! This is a beautiful lip lacquer. I've had TF's previous two and got a lot of use out of both of them. The original white pearl and the gold were both more layering types of products. This beauty could easily be used alone especially by those of us with naturally rosey lips. Tom Ford has brought us his sunset light inspiration in full glory. This is an exceptional and well-edited collection.
ReplyDeleteThis is the color I would love to toss in my beach bag (and then make my husband swear to guard it while I'm in the water!). Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to get my package! Also, I got a call from NM yesterday saying that they have everything in stock and the collection is also on the NM website marked as being in stock. I wish I had waited and I could have gone to pick up my stuff today. Oh well Saks says my package was shipped so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. I'm so glad I have Escapade and the lip lacquer on its way to me! They are both gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI have a mental picture of little drool drops coming from a face with gorgeous makeup.
I agree with you. The editing of this collection was world-class.
Hi MamaVal,
ReplyDeleteIt is so perfect for that! Ha! Hide it in your stuff.
Jo, my NM claims they don't have it yet. I threatened my SA/PS to make him call me the second my illuminator arrives. I told him - which is true - that I now exactly when they get their deliveries. He says they will have it Saturday. Not. The shipments from distribution arrive on Friday. :)
ReplyDeleteI ordered the fluid illuminator from him. I also ordered Terra because I don't have it.
Yippeee~ I'm so excited about this collection. I should have this lipgloss arriving tomorrow. *Doing a little dance*
ReplyDeleteI was able to order the two cream colour eyeshadows and lipgloss from Saks last week and then last night I woke up at 2:00 a.m. and thought what the heck, I'll check and see if Neiman's has this collection up on their site and giddy up, they did! So I grabbed the blushes and skin illuminator and checked out double stat.
I rarely get this excited about a collection, but I see these as just about the most perfect summer colours EVER and more importantly, they are not look at all like the typical golden bronze take which always looks, I think, a bit ridiculous on me really.
I'm having issues with language and grammar today.. That much is apparent :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to order anything sight unseen but since I don't have a TF counter near me in Colorado - I had to. I picked up the lip lacquer and Blushed Guilt Illuminating Cheek Color. I'm holding off on Pink Lust but I feel like I'm going to cave....thanks so much for showing these to us!
ReplyDeleteHi Wwendalynne,
ReplyDeleteWe are all a bit giddy over the collection. It's one of the best overall collections in years, I think.
Heck, I can't even type today! After forgetting to eat, I think my blood glucose must be around 50.
ReplyDeleteHi Zeynep,
ReplyDeleteI'll put up the sticks as soon as I can eat and recover from today's crammed schedule. No later than tomorrow morning.
Oh my - bless your heart, CG! I had such a lovely experience with the TF crew at Saks!
ReplyDeleteI always find my holy grail items at Saks Flagship - long before the other big NYC shops and high - end makeup purveyors have them. And to have found all the TF treasures first - and on my bday - well I am still in Heaven!
So glad you and your friend at John Barrett rectified the situation.....now we can all be in love with our treasures and ooh and ahhhh....Best wishes to all! xxoo
Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the TF people are nice at Saks, but the shipping department is inept.
I have Terra CG. I think you'll love it as I do. I hope you get yourself the bronzer brush too. There's nothing else like it. I'm thinking a little Fire Lust illuminator on my cheekbones with Terra over it will be a luscious summer look. The NM website says you can use Fire lust all over your face either mixed with moisturizer or foundation or on it's own. I can't wait to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteJust want to add. I think the woman in the Tom Ford picture (the one with the half face) is wearing Terra on her cheeks.
ReplyDeleteThis is DROOL-WORTHY! Absolutely glorious swatch and review.
ReplyDeletehi!!! well, i don't know what to do. i'm so pale and i keep getting this "vibe" that the skin should look sun-kissed. i cannot wear bronzer, it's just way too dark for me. i just opened chanel's metamorphose quad. i was not happy to see there were no suggestions by peter philips on how to wear this quad and suggestions for layering. there's just very basic generic instructions. i swatched it very lightly. i just see very sheer shimmer that rubbed off easily off my arm. not sure if i should try tom ford. it will be a pain to try to return if it doesn't work out. the chanel lip reminds me of sirrocco last year. total waste, not worth it, totally clear. i don't know what to do and i'm running out of makeup fast, not sure how long i can stretch the colors....i hope there are not too many typos, i'm very tired!! xo.
ReplyDeleteCharleston Girl, if you had to choose between the Tom Ford Fire Lust or the Armani Fluid Sheer in #6 which would you pick...my wallet won't allow both. I truly value your opinion and our Tom Ford counter at my Neiman Marcus unfortunately only has nail polishes and a few perfumes. They don't carry his complete line. I'd appreciate you input on this! Charlotte M.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, I will pick up Terra tomorrow or Saturday. I've wanted to play with a TF bronzer for a long time. So I took the plunge.
ReplyDeleteHi Lovethescents,
ReplyDeleteWe are all salivating. :)
Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping my quad arrives today. I will call Loyd and get some application recommendations and add them when I feature it.
You CAN wear Blush Guilt for a perfect touch of warmth and gleam.
Hi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThey are so completely different, I can't. I'm sorry.
If you want more bronze, go with TF. If you want more coral, go with Armani. TF is also a bit more shimmery.
Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteThe Metamorpose quad is in the drier Euro/Asian baked formula (round pan). Those tend to be more sheer, crystalline, and powdery than the US formula (square pan). Although I didn't purchase this particular one, I have purchased some of the round quads in the past, so here are some application suggestions---should you decide to keep it! You need to use a primer to provide a good base because the shadows don't adhere as well. The primer will also help enhance the color a bit. Apply the shadows with a packing brush like a MAC 239 and pat the color on. Don't sweep or you'll just succeed in scattering the sparkles and removing most of the color. After you pat the colors on where you want them, you can blend a little bit to soften demarcation lines, but use a very light hand. It might seem like a lot of trouble, but it's not. It's just a different application technique. By the way, don't confuse the baked Asian/Euro formula with the sublime Harmonie du Soir or Topkapi quads. Even though they, too, were in round pans, they were not the baked formula. They were so richly pigmented, smooth as silk, and creamy to the touch. I wish all Chanel shadows were like those two :-)
As for Tom Ford, that's a totally different animal! Because you're paying top dollar for that experience, you want to be very certain that you've selected wisely.
Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteMe again. I forgot to say that you can also dampen you brush a bit and that will also enhance the colors.
Wow. Just....wow. This is the first Tom Ford item I've seen that I might pay full price for. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteHave you ever found them at a discount? I haven't. I would be thrilled if the EL outlet offered them. :)
I just starting reading your blog and I'm lovin' it! It's really helping fuel my problem of buying high end makeup!
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to thank you for getting swatches of the 2013 TF Summer collection when nothing else was posted! It helped make me realize that I "need" everything! I can't get over how gorgeous this collection it...it's stunning. I was able to get everything online through NM except for Fire Lust...until I just cheked saks.com and it was available...so I order 2. Whoopsie:)
I hope everyone will post some pics looking gorgeous!
Thanks, BlazieLove!
ReplyDeleteYep, NM sold out. Saks has it, and the John Barrett Salon has it.
I laughed. You pulled my trick by buying two.
