Le Métier de Beauté Zeitgeist Blush/Eye Palette, Exclusive to Bloomingdale's Chevy Chase, Live and In Person - Swatched

Run to Bloomingdale's at Chevy Chase, Maryland. Do not walk. If you don't live nearby, call. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. You will be on your way to "regret jail" if you don't give serious consideration to Le Métier de Beauté's Zeitgeist Blush/Eye Palette ($125), which is exclusive to Bloomingdale's Chevy Chase.

The tester is shown above and directly below. I'm sorry about the shadows in my photos. There were so many people around - there was an event in the beauty department - it was hard to get a really clean photo of it.

I swooned when I saw it in person and immediately started testing. The photo from Le Métier de Beauté that I had published yesterday was nice, but it didn't sell this gorgeous palette to me. No one had to "sell" me when I walked in and saw it in person.

Fortunately, the sun was high in the sky, and I got swatch photos outside the store so that I could show you the beautiful colors while the GWP event is still happening (it ends tonight). If you order today, you will receive a Precision Liquid Liner and a nail lacquer as a GWP.

I swatched the top row of powder blushes from left to right, using a sponge-tipped applicator. The blush/bronzer face shades (top row from left to right) are listed immediately below.
  • Dusk
  • The Factory
  • Coral Reef
  • Punta Cana (bronzer)
The second I applied the pink rose Dusk (with its sheen) at the top of my arm, I knew I was buying Zeitgeist. All of the other shades are great shades for using alone or mixed to create your own custom color. Janice loves mixing Punta Cana with other shades to warm them up for summer. By the way, originally I thought these were cream blushes. They are powder. You cannot wear them on your lips. I have no idea how I got that impression from Facebook. Sorry!

I swatched the eye shadows (bottom row from right to left), also using a sponge-tipped applicator.
  • Granite Smoke
  • Sparkling Violet
  • Tanned Sheen
  • Oyster (highlighter)
The grey Granite Smoke at the top of my arm is a gorgeous grey that leans ever-so-slightly blue. I love Sparkling Violet. It's beautiful on its own, but mixed or layered with Granite Smoke, it's stunning. The bronzy Tanned Sheen made me gasp, and Oyster is a perfect base shade or highlighter.

I adore this palette. Here's the deal - the reason I'm telling you to buy it if you are interested. You know the quality of Le Métier de Beauté already, so you know what to expect. There were only about 50 of the Zeitgeist Blush/Eye Palettes made for Bloomingdale's. I suspect they will be sold out by Monday.

If you want to purchase one, call (240) 744-3781. That should get you to the La Mer counter. Le Métier de Beauté is so new in the store, they don't have their own phone yet. Ask for Renie, the counter manager, or Janice at Le Métier de Beauté. If they are available, they can take your call right away. If they are with customers, leave a message. They will call you back as soon as possible.

Don't say I didn't tell you!

  1. I saw this on your blog yesterday and called. Reine took my order and she was extremely nice to work with. I'm really excited for this palette to arrive!

  2. Gorgeous!! I am so tempted!!! I was holding out for the new Chanel blushes, but these are stunning! Thank you for the swatches!

  3. You should be very happy when it comes, Anonymous!

  4. Veronica,

As for cream blushes, you will love the new Dior ones. I'll show them tomorrow. Your skin tone will determine whether you love the Chanels.

  5. I loved the colours of the eyeshadows!

  6. OMG, CG I am sitting here reading this with my mouth agape in awe. I am so glad I ordered this yesterday and I can't wait to get it. What a stunning palette! Every shade is to die for.

  7. Have called and left a message for a callback (she is with a customer). I am holding my breath that they aren't sold out yet.

  9. Got it, thanks to you, Cg. Never, ever, think that you don't influence your devoted readers. You do! And Janice is a darling.

  10. Anonymous, I called. They are really crowded. They are putting aside a palette for every call. They will call back, but even if it takes awhile, your call/message secures one.

  11. I can actually imagine all fifty palettes selling out to readers of this blog just from seeing your swatches! This is much prettier than I had expected it to be.

  12. I must be the lone dissenter, but the construction of these palettes just looks so cheap to me, as do the other LE LMdB palettes. That brush they include looks like some cheap junk from an EL GWP. I like the look of the kaleidoscope style and am interested to see the re-styled versions. This style, as well as the multi-shade e/s palette w/mini pans(with generic foam applicators) from the Spring do not speak to me at all though! I suppose I just like a more aesthetically pleasing palette if I'm spending this kind of $$.

  13. That really is gorgeous. I especially love the eye shadows. Do you think that they would ship to Canada? It sometimes feels like we miss out on lots up here.

  14. Erin, have you held these new palettes? I am holding mine, and there's nothing cheap about it. All shades are full sized, and the brush s superior to the throwaways we usually see.

Once, years ago, I got a GWP blush brush from EL, and I adore it. I will cry when it finally gives up the ghost. Perhaps they aren't as nice now, but mine is sheer perfection. You reminded me of my beloved brush. It works so well, but is ugly. Orange striped! Who would have thunk?

Regarding the Kaleidoscopes, there were a few complaints, although I never experienced a problem, with the Kaleidoscope drawers sticking. That has been addressed in the upcoming new design, I understand.

  15. Melanie, probably. Call to ask. If I shipped to you, it would be $15-20 or thereabouts. Can do if they won't.

  16. Hi Nemo,

As you know, I seldom give such strong buy recommendations. This baby is special.

  17. Hi Silviabia!

Me too. Not a dud in the four.

  18. Jo, glad yours will be on the way. I learned late today that they are selling at a brisk pace.

  19. Sara, that's so funny. I do wake-up shopping too.

  20. Hi CrystesMom,

So far, I believe BTiB readers have outbought the general public. I'll get stats Monday. It's always nice to know. With LMdB, that often happens.

  21. Oh, and again thanks to you, Cg, I now own and love the LMDB Summer Night's Dream eye kit, too! The blue shade in it is exquisite, just as you said!

  22. Melanie,
Let me know if they agree to ship toCanada as I am interested as well, if not enough perhaps one of the others that are upcoming. Thanks,
    Kathy

  23. Hi - Can't plunk down $125 for this now BUT wondering whether CG or other eagle eyed makeup mavens can tell me whether sparkling violet is available as a single? Or - any great dupes ?? Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  24. To Anonymous looking for a dupe for the violet . . . to my eye it looks just like Plum which I adore.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nemo, cool! That blue was a surprising delight. I was not expecting it after seeing the press photo.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous 3:41,

I do not believe that violet is available as a LMdB single, but the company's Plum is really close.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Micki, I hadn't gotten to your comment yet. Plum is a little darker, but they are very similar.

  29. I was debating about ordering this--and then finally succumbed and realized I had to have it, even though I just bought two custom k-scopes. And I just called--and they still had some left! She said they sold about 30 yesterday--so that should give everybody a good idea of how many are left. I'm so glad I got one! Thank you CG for featuring this stunning beauty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jenny, I will share with you the late-yesterday news from the head of LMdB: They had sold 35, and you all were still calling that point. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I feel even luckier now to have gotten one. So, so glad I changed my mind. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is so beautiful - and I agree, Dusk is such a lovely blush shade! Tanned Sheen also looks pretty. I've been wanting to try the LMdB blushes and eyeshadows for the longest time; I only wish it were available or even easy to get in my country. Til then, I'll have to salivate over swatches, I guess!

  33. CG and Angusmum1: I will call tomorrow morning and hopefully they will A) have some left and B) agree to ship! I see that the Bloomingdale's site does ship to here, but there are no cosmetics. Will keep you posted!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Angusmum1: NM does ship to Canada, but not all cosmetics (for instance, they stopped sending Chanel). If you check a specific item, it should tell you if you can order it or not. Hope that helps.

  35. Sorry for yet another post -- I wondered, CG, or, perhaps, another reader, if either the blush or eye shadows contain talc or parabens (deal-breaker ingredients for me). My search yields ingredient lists with and without -- I am thinking that they were reformulated not too long ago? Thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  36. CG,

Would you happen to have the Penelope kaleidoscope? I am wondering how the lilac and the bronze compare to those in the Penelope kaleidoscope.

I'm still going back and forth over this deciding whether I actually want it or not!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Melanie,

There are parabens in the blush.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Melissa, I don't know where my Penelope is. These old swatch photos aren't great (old camera), but...

  39. To my horror I was walking into work last night when I received my email comfirmation for the palette and saw that the digits of my address had been transposed and my mailing address was incorrect. I called today and Janice (?) was going to go into the back and fix the mailing label on my package because it had not yet been sent. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will in fact get my palette this week and not someone who lives a few streets over. I had the crazy thought of seeing if the incorrect address even exists and if it did, ringing their doorbell, and asking them to please call me if they get my package! The things we will do for LE items :)

Renie was not suprised at all when I mentioned your blog to her! Is Neimans the only other palette coming out in the near future?
    Sara

  40. Thanks so much for the info. Needless to say, I did not call in the end -- too bad the shadows could not come on their own! They seem to have varied formulations for their products. I e-mailed and they replied right away about the True Colour Eye Shadows. Not at all what I found for ingredients when searching the Kaleidoscopes.

Anyhow, Nordstrom will ship Le Métier to Canada.

  41. I live in Australia and asked a friend in California to purchase one for me and she was told the palette was only available until the last day of posting, Saturday. So I missed out. What a bummer! I cannot understand why the company would release so few palettes at one store. Do you know if it will be available again? So pleased that many of your readers managed to purchase one.

  42. Nicole. I don't believe that's true. Ask your friend to call the store and ask for Janice or Renie specifically. Please let me know the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thank you for responding which I truly appreciate. Unfortunately I can't ask my friend to call again as we have only recently become friendly (through online shopping!) and I do not want to intrude on her time. So I might have to give it a miss unless you have any other suggestions. There is little point in me calling as I don't believe the store ships to Australia and/or Le Metier may not permit shipping to Australia. To date, I have only been able to purchase Le Metier products from beautybay.com, UK beauty store.

    Kind regards

    Nicole

  44. I missed out on Zeitgeist. Thankfully, I just pre-ordered the Castaway collection from Esteban at Neiman's in Bellevue, WA (425-452-3300).

From his description, it seems to be a warmer version of the Zeitgeist palette. It has four blushes/bronzer, and four eyeshadows. The shadows are wearable neutrals, and include a coppery shade and what what seems to be a color-shifting green.

Quantities are predictably limited. Thankfully, pre-purchasers of the Castaway palette will also get the free eyeliner GWP-- hooray!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Marta,

Glad you ordered it. I got a photo, and it's much prettier than the press photo.

Fortunately, there were about 500 made, I heard. So if you want one, you should be able to get it from any LMdB counter at NM.
