Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
Bobbi Brown will be introducing a new Smokey Eye Mascara next month (I think). It is available in a super-saturated extreme black shade that comes from richly pigmented, khôl-like kajal - perfect for topping off a smoky eye. I was given a full-sized one at a blogger event at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie, and I've had a few weeks to play with it.
Smokey Eye is a dramatic mascara, one that's a bit too dark for my fair appearance during the day, but perfect for night. Lately, I've switched over to a charcoal, soft black, or brown-black shade for a more flattering, natural look. I know makeup artists will disagree with me, but I feel a little "out there" when I go to work with a vampy eye.
Bobbi Brown says Smokey Eye Mascara allows you to build volume, lash by lash, so lashes look longer, thicker, and more individually defined. You can layer it without the glop factor. The night I learned about it, the Bobbi Brown representative had on five layers! Her lashes looked great.
The cylindrical brush delivers clump-free volume and will reach even the shortest and hardest to reach inner lashes. Right now, I have a few short lashes grouped in the middle of my right eye, and they were covered with one sweep.
Even though my lashes are plentiful and long, the hairs are thin. Voluminizing mascaras often clump - even when advertised to be clump-free. This new mascara performs nicely, without any clumping as long as I comb its wand deeply through the lashes as I apply it. If I find any of them stuck together when I'm finished, I run a lash comb through them to separate them. That works well. I am wearing Smokey Eye Mascara right now, and my lashes are my face feature of the day.
I think anyone looking for a black-black mascara that will amp up her lashes quickly and easily will want to try Bobbi Brown's new Smokey Eye Mascara. Right now, there is an advance promotion running at Bobbi Brown's Web site. Until the end of September, you will receive a 10-day supply of Smokey Eye Mascara with any order. That's a nice deal.

Will have to try it!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good. Does it come off easily?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you gave it a good review. I just had a "mini-makeover" with the new Katie and Bobbi palette, and loved the colors on my eyes and face (the long-wear eyeliner pencil is amazing!). But the makeup artist said that her fave is still the Extreme Party mascara and she felt that the new Smokey Eye mascara was better for lengthening than adding volume! I was quite surprised to hear that. But now, I want to try it, esp. since it can be layered without clumping. Thx, CG!
ReplyDeleteYes, Anju, it stays on all day, but removes easily.
ReplyDeleteThanks ... Will definitely give it a try ... Although Guerlain maxi lash works for me :)
DeleteThis mascara has been a Nordstrom exclusive for a few months. I've got puny lashes and have been love using it for about the past month or so. If you want to try it out now, it's available on Nordstrom.com:

This is definitely on my "to buy" list. I've been using a gift with purchase size of Lancome's Hypnose Mascara--and it isn't quite giving me the oomph that my sparse, short lashes need. The way you have described the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, has made me want to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteHi CG. Does Smokey Eye hold the curl in your lashes?
