Guerlain Crazy 68 Rouge Automatique from the Holiday 2013 Crazy Paris Collection
I have received the Guerlain Holiday collection pieces I ordered from the Guerlain Boutique in Las Vegas, and I can now see in person why the anticipation has been building. I decided to start my collection series with two gorgeous Crazy 68 Rouge Automatique Hydrating Long Lasting Lip Colours ($35). Over the next few days, I will be able to show you most of the rest of the collection, along with brand new Chanel and a few other treasures. Stick with me.
The limited-edition Crazy 68's come in snazzy Rouge Automatique tubes that are black and orange. The color shown on the left above is #660, Illusion, and the color on the right is #661, Reflex. I think both are beautiful.
The Rouge Automatique color emerges from the black tube when you slide the orange lever, which opens the cap and reveals the color bullet. You can push the lever up only as far as you need to use the lipstick without breaking it.
“Lipstick is an accessory — you should have fun with it,” said Creative Director Olivier Echaudemaison of both the color and the way it is accessed. He noted that Rouge Automatique is intended to be a midpoint between the brand’s sophisticated Rouge G and the classic KissKiss lipsticks - both of which I love, but KissKiss was always my favorite of the two.
The finish and performance offer shine and a long last (up to three hours), according to Isabelle Hébant, who was the Group Manager of Makeup and Marketing Development for Guerlain when Rouge Automatique was introduced. “It is intended to have a second skin effect on the lips, which is accomplished by a low gradient fusion point - when the formula touches the lips, it becomes liquid,” she said of the brand’s proprietary Crystal Pigment technology. “This formula involves pigments encapsulated in glass, which makes colors true and vivid."
I took swatch photos in bright overcast early today. The sun was not as bright as I would have liked, but it was sufficient to show the colors well.
The rose-fuschia-pink shade at the top of my arm is Illusion, and the coral-rose is Reflex. I'm delighted with both. The colors are bright and may take some "getting used to" on my part. I think I'll succeed because they offer the Rouge Automatique semi-sheerness.
A few pieces from the collection are available currently at Sephora, and the full collection is available at the Guerlain Boutique. Call Jonathan at (702) 732-7008 if you would like to order now. If you want to wait, the collection should be arriving at Guerlain counters this month.

Both are pretty, Love Reflex. Can't wait to see what else you got!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! These are definitely statement making lip colors perfect for the holidays. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the local counter will have the products for their Beauty Event tomorrow. They're scheduled to arrive 10/4. Well, tomorrow is 10/4 so I hope they'll be there and so does the lovely Guerlain gal seeing as she has Marcus coming for the event.
ReplyDeleteI got so many compliments on the stunning Liu last year. I seem to be able to wear deeper, more dramatic colors in Rouge Automatic than I can in Rouge G despite that being my preferred formula. I can hardly wait to see these two luscious colors in person--hopefully tomorrow :-)
You know, I had my eye on Illusion from the pictures I had seen. But now, looking at these swatches I can't help but think that Reflex will be mine! LOVE the packaging. I'm especially excited about the new bronzer and the meteorite balls <3
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to have Illusion! Looks like a juicy raspberry color, cheerful yet elegant.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends showed me her Rouge Automatique the other evening and I am hooked on the lovely packaging! This is bad news given my pre-existing addiction to Chanel and Tom Ford lipsticks - Revlon Lip Butters just don't do the same thing for me!
ReplyDeleteSusan
I know this is not too timely but I recently purchased both of these after thinking of them all winter! I wore Illusion today and my fiancée- who never notices my makeup- commented that he liked my lipstick today!
