Le Métier de Beauté Neiman Marcus Fall 2013 Kaleidoscope Eye Kit: Carnaby Street - Swatched

I'm so excited that I now have my hands on Le Métier de Beauté's Carnaby Street ($95). As usual, the real thing is much prettier than the press photo above lets on.

Le Métier de Beauté Neiman Marcus' exclusive Carnaby Street Kaleidoscope Eye Kit for Fall 2013 was inspired by swinging London and the famed Soho shopping district that was the center of the mod and hippie movements of the 1960's. Le Métier de Beauté says this pretty collection of eye colors "screams of fashion-forward sophistication." I say it screams wearable, everyday beauty.

Cameo at the top is a shimmering peachy pink. Anorak is a warm, glinting taupe. They had me with these top two shades. Then they moved on with pizazz.

Jackie is a sophisticated matte mauve. I will never wear it alone (unlayered) - it's not suited to my eyes with their tendency to redness. It does layer well with the other shades, though. Last weekend, Christopher applied Carnaby Street on me at Mazza Gallerie (the tester had arrived), and Jackie looked really pretty when blended with the shades above it.

Dandy, at the bottom, is a stunning blue (strangely called midnight navy, but it's not that dark). It's a pure, medium-toned blue that makes a pretty, contrasting eyeliner for me. Those who love smoky blues will find it a gorgeous color that gives life to the eyes.

I took my swatch photos in full, mid-day sunshine. I applied all four shades moderately heavily with a sponge-tipped applicator. You will see that I had a little friend keeping an eye on me from the porch - grooming himself when I shot the photo directly below.

Given my tastes, the top two shades are worth the price of admission. The peachy pink is the perfect color to ensure that your eyes won't look red. The gleaming taupe is, well, perfect.

I took one swatch photo that wasn't in strong, direct sunlight because I felt the sun was washing out the shades. Here is a shot in front of the chrysanthemum my friend left for me. It is in full bloom at my front door.

This Kaleidoscope is exclusive to Neiman Marcus and made it to the Mazza Gallerie store just as the end of Beauty Week neared. Through today, Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie has amazing GWPs. If you spend $125 and purchase a Le Métier de Beauté lipstick, you will receive another one for free. If you spend $300 at Le Métier de Beauté, you will receive a full-sized Peau Vierge Dark Spot Corrector, which I have learned is also a pore minimizer and retexturing serum.

To order today call Michael Reinhardt or Chae Edwards at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie. You can reach them at (202) 966-9700, extension 2258 or 2236. They are both working today. You can certainly order later, but Beauty Event will have ended. The Neiman Marcus event totes are cute (spend $125 in beauty), but not must-have's. Still, I will use my brown leopard tote to lug things around.

It looks very pretty-just curious, when and if you have time, CG, could you please make a swatch of all the colors layered together? I wonder how it looks that way...

Stunning colors!! Do they still recommend layering the colors one on top of the others? Yes, I'm curious on how colors look like layered, like Liliana said. The little friend on the background is way cute!

Michael does not recommend that strict layering technique. I agree with him. Use them however you want, just like you would use any other quad. :)

These colors are gorgeous! I like how they're saturated by not blaring bright.

Liliana,

Since I won't wear all colors layered, and no one with an eye will, I have to pass - plus it's cloudy now.

Maybe someone else will.

True, Dee. I guess they ARE sophisticated. :)

Thank you, Judi. I try to "edit" each season's collections, but in reality, I buy what I like.

Hi Lov2read,

Thanks!

Hi Beano, it's a good shade for layering b/c it's matte. You can spice it up with something a little more alive using a light hand.

How beautiful and wearable for everyday regular makeup!! I have only had the opportunity bto try a liquid liner and a shadow and the shadow is so nice, great to work with texture etc. One day!!

Thanks for the review! Great swatches! I really think you captured the true colors in the last photo. I agree with your assessment on that third shade. I am fair ( a few shades darker than you with blue eyes and if I tried to wear this shade alone I would look like I had pink eye! I layered it with all the other shades (each separately) and found it could be used. Still, I walked away, opting for a couple of Tom Ford quads. I took advantage of the Le Metier 6-pan release earlier in the year, and did not find these colors that new and unusual. . . . . .

I was excited to open my inbox to find this gorgeous eye kit swatched. I adore the colours and the fact that they are matte. It is very difficult admiring Le Metier de Beaute products which are exclusive to US department stores as they won't ship this and certain brands to Australia. However, it is fun seeing what you purchase. Please accept my belated birthday wishes for last week. I hope this year will be full of beauty for you.

Can't wait to get mine in the mail any day now. Have you heard anything about the new Saks exclusive one..Saint Domingue? Very curious about this one...

I can't wait for mine to arrive!! That taupe looks almost duochrome-y...which makes me even more excited :). Thanks for the amazing swatches, I was a bit nervous about ordering it blindly...the swatches sent by my SA were in a text message and rather blurry. I also grabbed Domingue and Eagles Envy, truth be told, I'm a bit more excited about Eagles Envy...do you find it pretty wearable? That green and the champagne-ish colors both have my heart fluttering! Have a lovely day and thank you again for an amazing blog!!

I have never tried Le Métier de Beauté products before but that palette makes me want to! Those are all colors that I would wear and would work with my skin tone!

Thank you for the great post!

Colors are gorgeous!

Is the mauve something that you could see using as a blush? I'm even paler than you are, and fear that color would do horrible things on my eyes even layered.

Charleston Girl said...

Hmm, Nedian, matte, mauve pink...why not?

The long awaited, much anticipated Carnaby Street is finally in your hands!! :-) Thanks so much for the photos, it was nice to be able to see it "in person". :-)

I also thought those Sisley Phyto Ombre Glow shadows that you reviewed a few days ago were great too, my fav was definitely the Pearl Glow, thanks for the photos on those as well. :-)
