We Have Rouge Bunny Rouge and TATCHA Giveaway Contest Winners!

The winner of the Rouge Bunny Rouge exquisite new Raw Garden Eye Shadow Palette in Chronos is Andrea! She has been notified. I have sent her address to Rouge Bunny Rouge. I can only imagine her joy when she opens that box and sees the beautiful palette in person.

As of yesterday evening, 364 people had entered the TATCHA draw for 100 deluxe samples of Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream. That means about 27% of those who entered will be receiving a package from TATCHA. You are lucky readers!

I want to send mega-thanks to TATCHA and Rouge Bunny Rouge for selecting Best Things in Beauty for their contests. I appreciated the opportunity very much - two superb companies. Thanks for entering and congratulations to the winners!

  2. Are we going to get a confirmation to find out if we're one of the Tatcha giveaway winners, or will we just get a package? By the way, thank you for doing this, and all of the work you do in general. I've been lurking for years and I love your blog.

  3. Hi,

The winners will receive their prizes in the mail with no prior notification. The entrants who did not win will receive a "consolation prize" in the form of an exclusive $20 off any $40+ Tatcha.com purchase promotional code. I thought that was nice of them.

  4. Hi CG - I hope you are taking care of everything, and hope it is going well. We miss you! Just wanted to let you know I was one of the Tatcha winners - they did send me an email before I got my package. Love the Renewal Cream - I already use several of the other Tatcha products, and this one is a winner as well!

  7. You have mentioned in previous posts to ask any questions your readers may have but do it early since most readers move on. This was the most recent post I could find. I do not buy cosmetics often (even though I do like to wear them), due to their prices, my budget and my skin. It is easy to give up wearing cosmetics when everything looks odd on you.
I have Irish pale skin with freckles. Living in Charleston, SC, sun exposure makes more freckles pop.
To keep this story short, I suffer from dehydration due to a medicinal implant. My face is dry no matter how much or how thick the cream is I put on it, I am go through a dozen tubes a year of lip balm. I wear contacts from time to time but I have to use moistening drops to keep them lubricated.
Due to my inexperience with all the new cosmetics out there and the technicians in stores who are always trying to sell you the expensive, not necessarily best, stuff to wear, I stick with stuff I wore when my skin was more supple. But when I do the dry skin areas makes it look splotchy or filled in. Itried a new Maybelline compact that was powder and foundation in one, but it was like the pancake stuff used by cosmetic artists for actors. Hubby told me one night it looks like I troweled it on, which I immediately removed (hubby doesn't think I need to wear make up because he likes me as I am...but I know I could look better). The same with my lips, if I wear balm under the lipstick, it slides off, if I do not wear it, the lipstick sinks in some areas and not in others causing my lips to look like they are falling off or something. I like wearing cream eye colors because they do not flake into my eyes and contacts.
I realize that I should dump all of my cosmetics in the trash and start over, but I have no idea on what to get. Is there any hope for me or am I doomed to be bland?
Thank you or your readers for the help.

  8. Rosemary, can you send me a selfie close-up so I can see your skin? No makeup! Send to bestthingsinbeauty@gmail.com. I'll see what I can recommend. It would help if you send me your e-mail because my surgery is in a week.

  10. @Rosemary Paul, what about trying a very hydrating lipstick, like Cle de Peau lipsticks that come in the refill tube? There are all sorts of balm/lipstick blends now that are buttery and moisturizing with a good amount of color. They're not as saturated in pigment as ones that are less emollient, but I think you'll be happy with them. The YSL candies, Burberry lipsticks, Bare Minerals Moxie or Buxom are also very hydrating. I've tried Givenchy and Guerlain as well, which are a little more saturated in color.

For foundations, I tend to stick to the higher end , but I've found that Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting, Sisley Phyto, Cle de Peau Creamy and/ Radiant foundations, and Koh Gen Do Aqua or Moisture foundation are really hydrating but natural looking. I would stay away from anything that promises to give you that flawless, velvet finish, as those will be higher in cones, which might dry out your skin.

For a loose/setting powder, try YSL's new one Poudre, Rouge Bunny Rouge's Diaphanous, Surratt Beauty Diaphane, and Chanel's. They're very lightweight and finely milled.

For cheek colors, I would definitely sticking to cream blushes. Chanel makes some good ones, but Josie Maran's cheek gelees and color sticks are also very nice. Joue also makes a few lovely ones.

I hope that gives you a starting point! Once you figure out what works for your skin type, shopping for cosmetics will be so much fun!

  11. @Charleston Girl
I can try to get that to you before your surgery but I am on the road for work at the moment without a decent phone.
I hope you do well during your surgical procedure. I am facing one n January that I cannot get out of.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
    Take care.

Thank you for your help. I have written all of the product names down and will be doing some shopping this weekend to see if these are available in my area. Actually, I am in Falls Church, VA for work at the moment, I'd probably have a better chance at getting these products here than I would back in SC.
    Tyson Galleria, here I come!!

  14. @Rosemary Paul, you're very welcome! If I think of others in the next few days, I'll report back. It can be frustrating when there are so many brands and products out there.

Most of what I listed tend to be a bit higher-end, but they are all worth it and lovely!

Also, if you need a primer, try Hourglass's No. 28 primer (Sephora) or It Cosmetics No, 50 Serum Primer(Ulta, QVC, ItCosmetics.com). They are chock full of nourishing oils and will help create a barrier for your skin and smooth everything out before your foundation. :)

  15. Thank you, Tanja. Surgery is Monday, the 6th. This past Monday, I hurt the knee I have to recover on. Saw the orthopedic surgeon, who x-rayed it and said my arthritis is so bad he doesn't know how I get around at all!

I nearly killed my body this week hauling out three years worth of magazines, which are heavy. They are set to be picked up today. I hope the guys take them! I hated to see them go, but realized they were in the way and I'd probably never have time to read them...even unread Allures went. I was heartless!

Today, I am worn out. Going to the hospital for surgery is starting to look like a vacation. :)

  19. CG,
I will be thinking of you this Monday and hope all will go smoothly and you will be recovering quickly and to strong joints.
I know the plight with magazines. I have subscribed to three (Harper's Bazaar, Allure and In Style) but didn't renew Allure and In Style since I never find time to read them anymore. A little bit is due to the blogs I read.
All the best to you and take good care of yourself.
    Warmly,
    Tanja
