Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Sweet Spot for Summer 2016

Tom Ford's Sweet Spot Lip Color Sheer ($52) is a beautiful summer shade. We had a conversation at the counter about the shade(s) the Soleil Collection model was wearing, and we think it was three (editorial license). This may have been the base shade. No guarantees.

Here is what Tom Ford Beauty has to say about Lip Color Sheer...
Harmonizing, sensuous shades of shimmering nudes and hot, vivid colors, the limited-edition Lip Color Sheer Collection delivers an irresistible effect that compliments sun-kissed, summer skin. A decadent mix of vitamins C and E and shea better helps lavish the lips with saturated moisture. The distinct, beveled Lip Color Sheer bullet is packaged in a retro-chic, ivory and gold Tom Ford case.

After testing the shades, I chose Sweet Spot. I got home really late today and have virtually no time to write, so I will make this feature short. My photos were taken in full, mid-day sun. I swatched directly from the tube onto my arm - right in front of that beautiful dogwood. I love this shade!

In the past, I didn't think I could wear a lip shade with this much coral or orange in it, but I can. It looks warm and summery. This one shines, even in indirect light, and it is not thoroughly sheer. It is pigmented for a "sheer" lip shade.

I'll show you the Moisturecore Lip Colors I purchased very soon. THEY are sheer.

Tom Ford Beauty is sold online and at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman, Blomingdale's, and Sephora. If you need help, I highly recommend Debbie O'Malley. She's a pro. You can reach her at (202) 966-9700, extension 2253.

Sweet spoot was too orange and warm for me. Cooler tones just suit me better.

I think Sweet Spot is a home-run for the color I am looking this summer! I love the color swatch. I would like to wait to see the moisturizing colors you have as well, CG, but I will probably order Sweet Spot in the meanwhile so I will have it. Thank you CharlestonGirl!

Hi charleston girl!! I tried sweet spot and it was too orange and bright for me . I'm still on the hunt for a peachy lip color. My favorites were Chanel's "bliss" and "mystique", long discontinued. I didn't like his new lipstick offerings either this year. His new sheer ones were extremely dry for me. Xoxo Wendy.

Oh..... I forgot..... Last year I received an email about " how to get the look" from tom ford introducing the summer collection. I remember it said the model was wearing Nude Dip. Unfortunately, that color did not look the same on me as the model? Does that ever happen to anyone? Anyway, I didn't like that color either. I know on Daphne Groevenfeld's (spelling not sure if right) Instagram....that's the name of the model for the summer campaign...also listed Nude Dip . For some reason, every color of his lipsticks that I've tried have been "off" for me. Xoxo Wendy.

Anonymous, that is exactly why I like to see Charleston Girl's swatches as they are far more realistic than on the models (and are any of them over 18?). I have had the same problem even with Chanel. Bobbi Brown, etc. I have yet to be disappointed when I have based my decision on a color swatch and recommendation from CG! Sadly, CG swatching every product we are interested in is totally unrealistic, but she really hits the nail on the head with the newest and top of the line, and I thank you for that CG!

Wendy - I have the same problem so often...I can't (and don't want to) imagine how much money I've wasted on lip colors that I've seen online, ordered, and when I got them they looked awful on me! The difference in how a lipstick looks on someone else and on yourself can be astounding! I just ordered Le Metier de Beaute lipstick in Bondi Beach - I saw it on The Makeup Professor's blog and it looked lovely...a little warmer than I'd usually wear (I wear cool colors) but more neutral. Got it home and it was kind of a light peachy shade on me - no resemblance at all to what I saw online. Luckily, I have a friend who is a redhead, wears these types of colors, and doesn't have the cash to spend on expensive lipstick, so I gifted it to her and it looks great! I have to stop doing that...you'd think I'd learn my lesson by now!
