The Friday Forum - June 24

Yesterday, I brought you up top date on my comings and goings. My life has been hectic - even at work. I'm glad a weekend is upon me. Even though I have a lot to do (such as swap out a dishwasher), my list is achievable.

I have enjoyed the gray-hair discussion on last week's Friday Forum. It has continued all week. So if you missed it, you might want to go back and check out the comments.

I am going to try desperately to get over to Neiman Marcus Mazza this weekend. If I can do that and take photos for next week's blog features, I will feel like an over-achiever.

I have Armani, NARS Multiples, Laura Geller, Stila, Tarte, Guerlain, and other wonderful things to share with you. There is also a new eye treatment that I've tested for a month and really like. The back-up of boxes in my bedroom is out of control.

I managed to slice into my finger with a cat food can lid, and it's very hard to type accurately with my finger all wrapped up. I'm going to keep this short.

It's time for the Friday Forum. The Friday Forum has always been an opportunity to share information. Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Tell us about it! Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Tell us why! Do you have questions others might be able to answer? We can help! Want to talk about skin care? I'm game. Just use the comments. We have busy weekends and slow ones on the forum. I hope to see you in the comments.

I have seen photos of the upcoming CHANEL fall makeup collection. It is the first by the new CHANEL makeup designer, Lucia Pica. It is called Le Rouge Collection 1 and it is thrillingly beautiful! Lots of red, red and more red. I will buy every thing.

I'm a bit late coming to the May Day party, but I did finally select a muguet (lily of the valley) scent for this spring into summer. For those of you who find the French custom of gifting muguet fragrances for May to be quite charming, Le Muguet de Rosine is a lovely one. As with all the other May muguets, this one is a limited edition. I've been debating whether I should purchase a second bottle and store it safely or just wait and see what next year brings.

I finally saw promo pictures of Chanel Fall 2016. It's called Le Rouge and it is very, very red--red lips, tips, cheeks, and eyeshadow. The quad is a beautiful selection of three shades of warm beige and brown and the forth color is red. It's called Candeur et Experience. Looks quite interesting. Chanel has done this before but I can't for the life of me remember the quad's name. Anyway, you can see some of the promo pictures on Tavia's Chic Profile blog. I'm sure that we'll soon see pictures popping up all over as autumn collections hit counter starting in July.

I'm also looking forward to seeing the beauty goodies that Nirdstrom will have on hand for their anniversary sale. The few pictures I've seen so far look promising.

I hope you're all enjoying summer days and, if you live here in SoCal, stay cool. We're supposed to get hit with another heat wave this weekend.

I was traveling and missed the gray-hair discussion. I really need to catch up on that one!

Meanwhile, I have to mention that I have been experimenting with some of the favorite foundations mentioned, and have gone back to Chanel's Lift Lumiere. It is really perfect for my dry skin, and it is great as a base for Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Color Duo no. 1 which gives my skin a wonderful summer glow. I am always getting compliments.

Have a wonderful week-end!

Nemo, I'm getting together next week with a Chanel AE to get a sneak peek at the collection. Very excited!

Eileen, this year, as every year, I purchased Guerlain's Muguet. I also purchased the new Hermes Muguet (sorry, no accent marks). Both are divine. I'm really happy!

I've got to sneak over to Nordstrom for a peek. The last few years have been uninspiring.

I am very upset about the fires in Southern California. I heard today that two were killed.

Sandra, I'm still a tried and true Armani foundation devotee. I wish I could get someone at Chanel to give me theirs to try.

Ooooo, Charlestongirl! Guerlain's Muguet! Divine, absolutely divine. I have a friend who, like you, gets it every year and it never fails to disappoint. And the bottles are always stunning. What a beautiful collection you must have :-)

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Chanel Le Rouge collection and am looking forward to your take on it. The red in the quad really isn't as shocking as one might think. Of course there will be those daring women who punch up the red, but most of us will actually be quite comfortable with a bit of red used as an accent color. The trick with colors like that is to keep them away from the actual eye. I bit of warmth, though, applied just above the contour can really "lift" the look of the eye. Well blended and faded out, red can work especially when combined with warm neutrals. Hmmm . . .I wonder what that says about me that I'm in my seventies and am fascinated with the notion of red eyeshadow ;-) LOL

As for our fires, this is shaping up to be a brutal year and fire season has not even officially begun. The loss of life--both human and animal--is a grim harbinger of what lies ahead thanks to our continuing drought and record breaking heat. And the thing that really gets to me is that so many of the fires are the product of human carelessness or a pyromaniac's disturbing illness. Such senseless destruction!

I need to take a look at Chanel Fall collection. My very favorite red lip is Chanel Premier Rouge Lipstick. It has been out of stock for years. I love it and it's backstory. Isn't there always a Chanel backstory?

Hi, CG! Thrilled that you will soon be meeting with the CHANEL person! Please convey that this Lucia Pica collection is exquisite! I have a very stressful profession, as you know, and I can't begin to tell you how critical it is for me to have something wonderful to turn my mind to. CHANEL it is. How is the wonderful Charlie?

OMG! Did I really type ". . . and it never fails to disappoint. . ." I obviously meant, ". . . and it never disappoints. . ." Sheesh! Getting old is hell! LOL

The fall Chanel collection looks lovely, but with my very pink skin (rosacea), I try to wear toned down shades of lipstick.

The Tom Ford collection looks divine--I checked out some preview pages after Eileen wrote about it last week. I wish there was a TF counter near me.

I am searching for a new under eye concealer. Estee Lauder discontinued the Smoothing Cream Concealer I used for years.

In a post a few weeks ago, Charleston Girl mentioned how online sales were affecting the store makeup SA. Another beauty blogger has an online quiz about how often a person buys makeup online. The results were higher than I expected--62 percent of respondents buy their cosmetics online from 50 to 100 percent of the time. No wonder there are declining in-store sales.

Maureen, call Debra O'Malley at Tom Ford at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie. 202-966-9700. Tell her your old EL color. I will bet she can do the homework to match it.

Brick and mortar sales are so down, careers are at stake. I'm trying whenever I can to buy in the stores. I feel terrible for the people I like.

I am excited about the Le Rouge collection from Chanel. Not a great fan of Kristen Stewart as Chanel face but oh well. I am curious to see what else Lucia Pica will be designing. Just received some Byredo fragrance (the flower collection) and am looking forward to trying the scents.

Woo hoo! I got carded today when I purchased a case of beer at BJs.

That is super, CG. Love when that happens. The Byredo flower collection is absolutely lovely by the way and a nice way to try the various options.

Tanya, I have a few of them. Never bothered to review. I am such a mediocre fragrance blogger! Nice fragrances!

You are not a mediocre fragrance blogger. I have enjoyed your fragrance reviews as much as your other reviews.
I am off for an extended trip to see my parents and won't have Internet so if you don't hear from me for a while that is why.
Take care and warmly, Tanja

Have fun, Tanja! Treasure your time with your parents.
