Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Gelée Bronzer for Summer 2016

Estée Lauder's Bronze Goddess Collection for 2016 has been released, and, as usual, there are some stellar products in it. It's a nice change from the boring Aerin Lauder color. Get ready, bronzer shoppers; this one's a beauty.

Bronze Goddess limited-edition Gelée Bronzer ($32) is a treasure. The press? "Give yourself a heavenly glow with this super-luxurious liquid bronzer. Formulated with a unique blend of bronzing pigments in a pearlized, reflective base for sheer, natural-looking radiance. Feels weightless and comfortable. Turn up the heat." Amen! This bronzer is glorious.

I took photos in full, mid-day sunshine - hence the reflections. The tube is fairly small (one fluid ounce), but it only takes a small quantity to impart a lovely, sheer bronze shade to your face. My swatch photo was created with a tiny dab of the liquid/gel bronzer. You can layer it for more intensity, but no amount of layering will make it opaque.

From the swatch photo, you can see that the color is sheer and natural. It won't really cover your imperfections; you can see my veins through it (sorry). That's its beauty. It lets your own skin shine through the lovely, natural bronze color. This shade should work for almost everyone. It's not muddy, and it's not pink. I love it!

The formula is oil-free, so it will delight those with oily skin, as well as those, like me, whose skin is dry. It literally floats onto my skin on application - nice and even when applied with fingertips or a synthetic brush. It makes me look naturally alive and sunned. I apply it on the highlights of my face where the sun would hit if I didn't wear sunscreen.

I ordered mine online from Estée Lauder, and I have other new items from the collection to show you. You can find the Bronze Goddess Collection wherever Estée Lauder is sold. I'll warn you, though, that the limited items often sell out quickly. If you want one, buy with haste.

And here comes the sun :-) How very pretty! EL always manages to come out with a beautiful summer product and this new one is no exception. It's transparency means it will overlay various different skintones to produce a natural golden glow. Personally, I prefer foundations, blushers, bronzers, and highlighters to have some sheerness to them so that they become part of my complexion rather than a cover-up. Although I don't mind opacity on my eyes and lips, when it comes to my face, I want my complexion to look like it is glowing with good health and not painted on perfection.

Looks interesting. I have never been much into EL but this is intriguing.

Liquid bronzer seems to be the in thing at the moment. This shade looks great. I am looking for a powder bronzer (currently using bareminerals and nearly run out). Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you

Hi CG! Wow this one is gorgeous. I have the Chanel bronzer in the large jar which is stunning. Just might add tho one to my collection too. Btw Bobbi Brown has two new colors in her compact bronzers that lol. Also she has 4 new quad color eye shadow sets that look stunning too.

Hope you are feeling better. So glad you are back blogging. Missed you!

CG, love this lovely, sheer bronzer! I took your "warning" seriously and ordered it immediately! I know from your comments and swatch I will love it!
I also want to pick up Guerlain's Teracotta, and dropped in to the only Sephora in the area, which was terribly disappointing. Sadly, they have no high-end cosmetics as they are small, and their audience consists of UVM and other college students. I will just have to wait to see the colors "live" when I am in NYC. However, since we had a blizzard here this morning, it was great to get out and about. The snow did nothing except kill all my spring flowers and make our back roads a mess! I was delighted to return home to read your uplifting blog and your bloggers' comments. And now I have a fabulous delivery to look forward to! I am also looking forward to hearing "the rest of the story" on EL's summer collection!

Annie, you can't go wrong with Guerlain Terracotta.

Joanne, thanks. I'll check out the Bobbie ones. I like the ones I have.

Hi Annie,

I second Charlestongirl's suggestion about Guerlain. One of the great things about the Terracotta line is that the number of bronzer choices is very extensive and so it is easy to find one that is perfect for your skin tone. Guerlain's powders are finely milled and glide on smooth and evenly and the edges can be easily blended into the rest of your face products like your blusher and highlighter. Guerlain also has some bronzers with a pop of color (pink or apricot) and with those you don't need any additional blusher. Some of the bronzers in the Terracotta line are more luminous than others, but they all seek to recreate that "bonne mine" look. And then, of course, there is a new LE bronzer that Guerlain releases every year. The LEs are spectacular and many women collect them. For an everyday, effortless bronzer, though, give me the good old classic Terracotta in #00.

Another wonderful option is Tom Ford. The quality of his bronzers is unsurpassed. The only problem is that the color range is extremely limited. For a long time there were just two shades: Terra (cool, matte) and Gold Dust (warm, luminous). It took him several years to get around to introducing a darker shade called Bronze Age (warm, shimmer). It would be nice if TF offered a wider selection of shades in his permanent line so that more women could enjoy his beautiful bronzers, but it is what it is--very limited :-( If one of these works for you, though, you'll feel like you won the jackpot! Sabrina (Beauty Look Book) has arm and face swatches of all three and comparison swatches to other bronzers as well. It's worth a look if you're interested in Tom Ford.

BTW, I have bone dry skin and yet I do not have any problems with either Guerlain or Tom Ford looking patchy, chalky, dusty, or any other dreaded "y". LOL I use Guerlain #00 for a daytime bronzer and TF Terra for an evening contour.
