Chanel Summer 2016 Collection Dans la Lumière de L'Été - Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Empreinte du Désert

Inspired by a shimmering desert oasis, Collection Dans la Lumière de L'Été reveals luminous new colors for face, eyes, nails, and lips. Brilliant coppers and sandy browns give soft intensity to the eyes, while pinks and oranges sparkle on the lips. The entire collection is gorgeous! I will be showing it to you this week.

Where to start? Let's focus on the exquisite, limited-edition Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Empreinte du Désert (#9501, $65). This exclusive creation offers a palette of earth-toned shadows, each embossed with a desert-inspired design. Copper and green shades are styled alongside sepia and brown hues for soft dimension. There are so many combinations of colors we can use with this palette, it could take us through the entire summer and into fall.

The illusion of an oasis in the desert is portrayed in each eye shadow. The neutral shades, with a touch of inviting green, are gorgeous. I could not have selected more beautiful colors. The shades are all "creamy" powders too - so nice that there is absolutely no fallout.

My photos were taken in mid-day sunshine. I applied each shade with a sponge-tipped applicator. As some of you know, my camera does not capture green accurately. The green shade on the skin is exactly as it appears in the quad in real life. Unfortunately, on my arm directly below, it appears to be grey-green.

I couldn't leave you with that impression, so I did something I never do. I edited the photo so that the green color would look more true/accurate. Many bloggers do this regularly. I don't. I want you to see the colors as my camera sees them. I never trust my eyes, but with greens, I know my camera gets goofy. The edited photo is below. The green shade is much closer to true below than it is in the photo above. I had to do it justice!

The shades all shine like I'm sure an oasis would look in a desert. They have some sparkle, but it's not too glitzy. I will wear all four shades during the day, and I'm conservative about what I wear to work.

I purchased this Empreinte du Désert eye shadow quad from Rahman Malik at the Chanel counter at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria. You can reach him at (703) 761-1600. Ask for Chanel Cosmetics. He is a total sweetheart, and we need to keep our great product specialists in business. Online shopping is killing them. Now that Neiman Marcus offers free shipping and returns, you can shop by phone without an added cost for shipping.

Charlestongirl, I want to thank you for your integrity and transparency about color correcting.p the green. Nothing is more frustrating than to see a swatch of something online and then see it in real life and wonder if it is even the same product :-\ So, once again, thank you. We all know your camera plays havoc with greens so I don't mind that you tweaked it to match the real color.

As for that gorgeous quad, I can hardly wait to receive mine. I ordered it the other night along with the two crayon yeux and am looking forward to playing with them. The desert theme is a nice departure from the usual beach theme and I imagine this collection will have great appeal to all those women who love neutrals with just a hint of color. That green is simply gorgeous and will look beautiful with the other shades. I understand the formula creates a lot of gleam and your swatches clearly show that. That it is not only beautiful to look at but is also creamy smooth with no fallout is wonderful.

Happy Mother's Day! To everyone with human and fur kids, plus those of us lucky to be celebrating with our own mothers today. I didn't write a feature, but wanted to wish all of you a great day.

Happy Mother's Day. I am waiting for this quad to be available at Nordstrom. I hope the date is before their indicated date (end of May) or I may have to break down and order it from Chanel.com. I cannot wait for the eye pencils and glosses.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Your enhanced green color is accurate. The green is glorious, like springtime woods, almost supernatural. You did well. And yes the colorways are endless. Friday I wore it with the gold, copper and brown and a hint of the green. Today I tried it with the green in charge. It is wonderful. I must reup immediately! I wore it Friday with the less sultry blush duo; today, with the darker duo. Both exquisite looks. Today too I did my toes & fingers with the Emeraude polish. Lovely colors.

Happy Mother's Day! Both my sons are out of town and so it was just my husband and I and our pack of fur babies. This morning was one of those cool, crisp, sunny days that makes the heart sing so we took "the kids" up into the hills for a nice, long walk. Then we deposited them at home and went out for lunch--nothing jazzy; just a relaxing meal. Now we're at home and I'm at peace with the world. I hope all of you are, as well. Have a wonderful week, everyone.

Charleston Girl, I am in love with this Chanel collection, and thank you for your disclosure on the green. I have to have the Quadra, and will give Rahmen Malik a call and tell him you referred him. I would like to chat about the lip colors anyway since I have no way to see them in person at the moment. Chanel, I am afraid, will forever be my favorite, even though they are teetering on the edge playing with No. 5!

My best wishes as well for all the mothers out there of all sorts of wonderful children, and a very special wish for those who still have their own precious mothers to Celebrate!

Thank you for your review and beautiful swatches. I wasn't originally interested in this quad but having seen your photos I am very tempted. I think I'll probably get this when it finally launches in the UK.

Btw, did you get any of the duos?

Duos posting in the morning, Anne.

This is one of the most beautiful eye palettes I have seen from Chanel. Thank you for the photos and the clarification about the green. These are 'my colours' but it will be a while till this new collection hits Australian shores. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection during the week.

CG, do you think it will be much longer for Nordis to receive these? I love trying them first. So anticipating your review of the duos since I don't know which one to get at all.

Eileen, your day sounds lovely. I baked a quiche and cookies and worked in the yard, then took a short power nap.

Tanja, I don't know. I will message my Chanel friend at Nordstrom and ask. If he answers, I'll let you know.

Tanja,

Our closest Nordstrom told me the products have been shipped and are expected to arrive at counter in 1-2 weeks.
