Chanel Gold Fingers Le Vernis from the Las Vegas de Chanel Collection

Think I like gold? I suspect I've purchased every high-end gold nail lacquer that has been introduced during the last year. I haven't even featured all of them here. So why was Gold Fingers Le Vernis ($28) nail color from the Las Vegas de Chanel Collection appealing? Apparently, I have a gold addiction. I really like the real thing. With the per-ounce price of gold in the stratosphere, I'll have to make do with gold makeup.

If you're looking for a substitute for gold jewelry to draw attention to your hands, why not try the flashy Gold Fingers nail color? One of four pieces in the Las Vegas de Chanel Collection, developed to celebrate the newly renovated Chanel Boutique at Bellagio, Gold Fingers offers all the flash you'd expect on a Las Vegas stage.

I got a wild hare and decided to show Gold Fingers swatches in three incarnations: one coat, two coats, and three coats (from left to right in my photos). My photos were taken in full sun. While one coat looks decent in these photos, it looks uneven on the nail. A two-coat application is acceptable, but three coats provide the full flash of the slightly bronzed gold shade. You may see that two coats provide a more pure yellow gold tone, while three develop the antique hue. Oddly, I noticed that three coats got a little gummy. I suspect that was the result of my unskilled application (I did wait 30 minutes between coats).

I had a little extra time on my hands yesterday, so I snapped more photos of Gold Fingers than I might have normally. It was beautiful outside. It's hard to believe that the weather forecasters are discussing the "s" word as a potential for Sunday. Save me! Anyhow, look at the beautiful blue sky in the photo below. Blue and gold are such pretty companions; I couldn't resist.

Now that you've seen these photos, will you be purchasing Gold Fingers? You can wait for the Las Vegas Collection to roll out nationally, or you can call the boutique at Bellagio. Gloria helped me. You can reach her at (702) 765-5505.

Thanks so much for swatching this collection. I'm still on the fence about whether I'll purchase any of the pieces but having your photos and insight is a huge help.

That is a pretty polish! Not unique enough to get me to buy, but still very pretty.

Thanks, Holly!

Hey there, Leticia!

I can't tell you that it's unique. I did a bottle comparison with other golds I have, and it's way too similar. That said, I really like it!

Do you have any idea how long it will take before it's launched nationally?

Carrie, as usual, I have conflicting information, but I think it's fair to say in March.

Glad to hear it, tytynette!

Just wanted to pop back over and say that the LV collection is now available online. Got the email from Chanel today. I do want everything, but I think I'll just get the nail polish and lipstick. I need to stop looking at photos of that gorgeous compact, though. :)

Excellent, Carrie! I know a lot of readers have been waiting to order online. I actually prefer ordering from the boutiques because they send nice little gifties in my box.
