Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain Lipcolor from the Voilette de Madame Collection for Fall 2013

Guerlain has introduced three new Rouge G de Guerlain shades ($49.50) with its Voilette de Madame Collection for Fall 2013($49.50). Normally, I don't line up to purchase Rouge G. It's not that I don't love the colors; I have a personal issue with the case. With its bulky case, which holds a mirror, I find it too heavy to carry along with me. Who doesn't touch up her lipstick during the day? That confines my use to "at home" application.

Rouge G de Guerlain captures the quintessence of luxury. With a simple click, the case reveals a mirror and a lipstick nestled within. An exceptional, fabulously chic accessory, Rouge G surpasses mere beauty. The ruby formula gives lips a vibrant luminosity with highly concentrated pigmentation for intense color. Perfectly paired with Guerlain’s matching Gloss d’Enfer counterpart, Rouge G’s new fall shades are enclosed in a limited-edition case adorned in a screen-printed dotted Swiss veil.

There are three new shades for fall. I checked with the Guerlain Boutique in Las Vegas, where I purchased my two, and I learned that they offered a bit of sheerness. I was assured that I could wear them, and that assessment was spot-on. The names and Guerlain's descriptions of the new shades follow.
  • Madame Batifole (#860) - vibrant fuchsia
  • Madame Flirt (#861) - fruity red
  • Madame Rêve (#862) - voluptuous pink
I purchased Madame Flirt (shown at left above) and Madame Rêve (shown at right), I need to check out Madame Batifole in person. I'll do that this weekend.

In case you are interested, the cases of these new Rouge G's are decorated with a screen-printed, dotted Swiss veil. I could care less. That's a bell and whistle that may attract some, but the only one who will ever see the case, besides me, is Charlie. He doesn't care.

I took photos of these two lipsticks in full, late-afternoon sun. Madame Flirt is shown at left, and Madame Rêve at right. It was impossible to get the rounded tubes to sit up straight, so the angular presentation in my photo above was by necessity.

Madame Flirt is applied at the top of my arm, with Madame Rêve below. While Guerlain's descriptions make them sound dramatic, they are actually quite wearable (for anyone like me who is uncomfortable in strong lip colors).

Madame Flirt isn't really red. It's a watermelon shade - juicy and delicious. If it's red, it's a really light red. Madame Rêve, lighter, is a medium pink. Both please me enormously.

The Rouge G formula is extremely shiny and moisturizing. It includes a star ingredient: ruby powder, which acts as an optical whitener to bring out the color and shine of the shades. The blend of natural active ingredients (tiger grass, wild mango butter, gugul resin used in Ayurvedic medicine) completes the formula to plump up, smooth, and bring moisture and softness to your lips. I think you'll enjoy wearing it.

Regarding availability, I repeat...I purchased mine at Guerlain’s boutique in Las Vegas. The Voilette de Madame collection is available now at the Guerlain Boutiques and Neiman Marcus - and perhaps Bergdorf Goodman. Those locations received the collection early. It will be available at select additional locations at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Sephora this month.

I preordered some things from the collection at Bergdorf, so I know they have things there to try out! But the stock won't come in until next week or so.

Hm I think I should buy Madame Reve, it looks like a very pretty pink for me. I did get Batifole and it is quite vivid! It's definitely a notice me shade...which isn't so bad sometimes. :)

I've been lusting after Flirt and Rêve ever since I learned they were a bit sheer like those in my beloved Rouge G Brilliant series. I knew Batifole would be a wait and see one since it is more intense, but I'm thinking it would be an elegant color to wear to evening concerts. We shall see.

I love Rouge G and Rouge G loves me. It's one of the few lines that I can wear day after day without my lips becoming in the least bit dry or flaky. In fact, my lips always feel smoother and softer after a day or evening of wearing Rouge G. I just wish Guerlain would make it as a refill. I have discarded so many of those heavy mirrored cases throughout the years. What a waste! Guerlain probably feels that a refill wouldn't jive with the image of elegance, luxury, and opulence that is marketed along with the lipstick. Of well, we all complain about the weight and size of the case, but we all continue to buy it. Good thing I lift weights! LOL

I dont understand for the life of me... why the heavy case? I have one that I purchased a couple years back and I don't care to get anymore just for that reason. The color is gorgeous but not worth it for that case. I think they need to revamp their packaging and make it look more sleek! Nice colors, but I'll pass.

Pretty colors, I love Rouge G, at least they do not charge extra for a pretty case, like Cle De Peau.

Uggh! I may be going against everyone else, but I LOVE the case! I take my purse darn near everywhere with me, so I'd be totally okay toting it around!

Hi Hillary,

I also carry mine in a purse, so the weight does get lost in the shuffle. My husband did comment once, though, that if I carried more than two Rouge G's at a time, my purse could be classified as a bludgeon! LOL
