TATCHA Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream Giveaway Contest - 100 Prizes!

TATCHA is generously offering 100 Best Things in Beauty readers a deluxe sample of Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream. In order to enter, you must have a United States delivery address. Just go to this link and fill out the entry form before August 25.

If more than 100 people sign up, then TATCHA will randomly draw 100 to receive the samples, and everyone who signs up will receive an exclusive promotional offer in their e-mail inbox. TATCHA will handle mailing the samples directly to the select winners.

Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream ($135) is an intensive cream with serious anti-aging properties. Even the name delighted me when it was delivered to my house last year. "Ageless" and "enriching" are words that convey to me a cream that I need. I don't want to appear to be aging, and I know my skin needs help to stay supple.

The skin is beautified by increased nourishment and purification, resulting in a reduction of age spots, renewed appearance, and radiant glow. The effective formula harnesses proven ingredients that work in harmony to promote microcirculation, preventing and reversing the signs of premature aging.

Microcirculation helps to carry vital nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells, replenishing and nourishing the skin, while also carrying away waste from the cells. The result is a radiant and healthy glow and a guard against signs of premature aging, including loss of elasticity, age spots, and dryness.

Some of the active botanical ingredients of Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream are peony (Paoneia Albiflora Root Extract), sanshishi (Gardenia Jasminoides Fruit Extract),  and yomogi (Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract). How could these wonderful plants not help my skin? I'm also very impressed by what's not in this cream: mineral oil, synthetic colors, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, PEGs, PPGs, urea, DEA, TEA, or phthalates. Halleluha!

The giveaway will continue until 100 readers have entered, so enter now before you forget this amazing offer. Again, the link is here. Many thanks to TATCHA for remembering Best Things in Beauty readers!

TATCHA Gold Camellia Beauty Oil

TATCHA's relatively new Gold Camellia Beauty Oil ($125) is, like the rest of TACHA's skin care, a wondrous product. A light and rich beauty oil for face, hair, and body, the camellia oil is infused with licorice extract that gently calms the skin, and young bamboo and green tea fragrances that offer a momentary transport to the Kyoto countryside. TATCHA gave me the opportunity to try this oil, and I've made quite a dent in the 50 ml container.

The benefits of the precious camellia were first discovered thousands of years ago by Japan’s Oshima Island farm girls, who applied the flower’s extract to their skin and hair. The Ama (Japanese female free divers) evolved this ancient beauty secret, coating their bodies with camellia oil to protect their skin during frigid ocean dives. Centuries later, geisha began applying nutrient-rich camellia oil after bathing, a luxurious addition to their daily beauty rituals.

Rich in essential antioxidants and moisturizers that deeply nourish and protect skin, the TATCHA Gold Collection harnesses the timeless gifts of the camellia. Flecks of 24-karat gold add a touch of opulence, celebrating the geisha’s timeless practice of elevating the everyday to exquisite. The result is a sumptuous collection that marries old world wisdom with modern sensuality.

Camellia oil and squalane nourish the skin and seal in moisture, while the 24-karat gold flakes give the skin a sensual glow. I love oils, used a moisturizers or cleansers, and this is the most non-oily oil I've tried. It comes with a dropper so that you can dispense just the right amount into your palm before applying it. When I apply it to my face and neck, patting it in, it's absorbed immediately. I never feel oily after application, and that's not the case with all the oils I use. I don't feel oily after applying TATCHA's Camellia Beauty Oil. It feels like I've applied a fabulous moisturizer, and my skin feels and looks moist and hydrated for about eight hours afterwards. I'm using it at night, but I could easily use it during the day to replace my serums. I love the way it smells as I drift off to sleep. The divine fragrance is comforting because it's got a slightly herbal or subtle medicinal scent to it. It leaves my psyche thinking I've done something good for myself.

I think the reason that it's a great product for all skin types is its quick absorption. You won't feel oily after you apply it. The only think you'll notice is how supple and hydrated your skin looks and feels. I've become quite a TATCHA fan in the last year, and the Camellia Beauty Oil has cemented our "relationship."

One reviewer at TATCHA's Web site called it "heaven in a bottle." That aptly sums up TATCHA's beautiful Gold Camellia Oil. You can find it at TATCHA's Web site and Barneys New York - only the best.

TATCHA Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm

TATCHA's new Gold Collection harnesses the timeless gifts of the camellia to nourish the skin and lips. As I mentioned recently, the precious benefits of the camellia were first discovered thousands of years ago in Japan - specifically by Oshima Island "farm girls" who applied the flower’s extract to their skin and hair. The Ama (Japanese female free divers) evolved this ancient beauty secret by coating their bodies with camellia oil to protect their skin during frigid ocean dives. Centuries later, geishas began applying nutrient-rich camellia oil after bathing, a luxurious addition to their daily beauty ritual.

Rich in essential antioxidants and moisturizers that deeply nourish and protect the skin, the TATCHA Gold Collection is embellished with flecks of 24-karat gold to add a touch of opulence, celebrating the geishas' timeless practice of elevating the day from routine to exquisite. The sumptuous, two-piece collection marries Old World wisdom with modern sensuality.

On a recent day, when I was felling particularly blah, I received a gift of the Gold Collection from TATAHA. Everything about the gift was luxurious - the purple and gold embellished gift box to the purple tissue paper and gold cord. Opening it was a pleasure. I felt good even before I gave the Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm ($36) its first whiff.

The balm is packaged in a beautiful box with a pull-out drawer that holds a beautiful jar, accented by the TATCHA logo, a purple rum, and a see-through window at the top. Behind the window the balm is adorned with gold leaf. It's gorgeous. I've never seen a more beautiful lip balm presentation.

There is a little story inside the box, "A Rediscovery." I won't spoil it be quoting it. You will enjoy its contribution to the experience of unwrapping your beautiful TATCHA treasure.

It took me only a nanosecond to try it. I lightly ran my finger over the balm (and gold leaf) and spread the treatment onto my lips. This natural treatment melted onto my lips instantly, infusing them with the treasured emollients of squalane; Japanese camellia oil, which has been long regarded for its antioxidant properties that protect the skin; licorice, which brightens; and rice oil to moisturize deeply. Also in the formula are macademia nut oil and TATCHA's HADASEI-3 Complex. It has a natural, very mild, and pleasant fragrance that all but disappears on application.

All TATCHA skin care is formulated without mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, PEGs, PPGs, DEA, TEA, urea, or phthalates. TATCHA succeeds at providing the best ingredients for your skin and your health.

To use the balm, scoop a tiny bit of balm and just a touch of the gold leaf, then spread or dab evenly on your lips. The first time I used mine, I took too much gold, but it was certainly a treat. My lips were instantly hydrated and gleamed with the trace of gold, which magically melted and fused with the balm.

In the days I've had TATCHA's Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm, I've saved it for nights, trying to make it last forever, I guess. When I apply it at bedtime, my lips feel indulged. It has almost unheard-of lasting power. When I awaken at 3:00 or 3:30 - a nightly occurrence - I can still feel it on my lips! For a balm that feels lightweight, that is remarkable. When I finally drag myself out of bed (5:30 lately), I still have moist lips. I consider myself the lip balm expert (there are few I haven't tried), and I have never found one that lasts eight hours on my lips - until now.

Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm is a remarkable product. If you are as compulsive as I am about having moist lips, you must check it out at TATCHA's Web site. It is work every penny, if not more, of the $36 price (the jar is generously sized at .28 ounces).

Next up, I will be introducing you to the Gold Camellia Beauty Oil, which I am testing for a little bit longer (as I normally do with skin care) to ensure that I can give you the straight scoop.

TATCHA Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream and Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream

TATCHA has joined my collection of elite skin care. It makes me feel - and look - so good, I am thrilled to have had the company's help in discovering the secrets of the geishas - known for their baby-smooth skin (referred to as "mochi hada").

My latest adventures have been with the Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream ($185) and the Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream ($135). I have been testing both products for over a month.

Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream is an intensive cream with serious anti-aging properties. Even the name delighted me when it was delivered to my house. "Ageless" and "enriching" are words that convey to me a cream that I need. I don't want to appear to be aging, and I know my skin needs help - particularly at this time of year when it is at its driest.

Halleluha!

Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream comes with a pretty gold spoon tied to the top of the jar with a purple ribbon. The presentation is gorgeous. TATCHA says to use it by scooping out a pearl-sized amount of cream with the gold spoon and massaging it gently into the face, neck, and decolletage in upward strokes day and night. I have to admit I always have clean hands when I use it, so I skip the spoon. I also skipped the upward strokes direction. I prefer to use circular motions on my face and neck. I can't explain why, but I'm gentle and it's faster. Bad patient!

When I first started using this cream, I used too much. I saw a tiny amount of white residue on my face after the cream dried, and I wiped it off. That was my signal that more is not better. Because the cream isn't at all heavy, I assumed a little more would be good for my parched skin. Bad assumption! Once I started using the cream properly, with a dose closer to what TATCHA recommends, I never saw the residue again. Duh - I'm supposed to be the beauty maven.

My skin has never looked better. The proof is in a test I did very recently with a new cream that is supposed to transform your skin's texture. It didn't. The rep's reaction? Wow, you must really have good skin! Thank you, TATCHA and Mom.

Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream doesn't have the little spoon, and I had wished it did. Voila! I took the little spoon from the face cream [insert little smiley face].

This intensive eye cream - suitable for all skin types - promises deep anti-aging properties. Revitalizing Eye Cream nourishes and purifies the skin around the eyes, resulting in a decreased appearance of puffiness, dark circles, and eye spots. The effective formula harnesses proven ingredients that work in harmony to promote microcirculation, preventing and reversing the signs of premature aging.

I love it! I don't have dark circles. I do have one sun spot between my left eye and hairline. I have spoken with my dermatologist about it, asking for a prescription cream to lighten it. He says it's deep and no cream is going to remove it. [I won't bother you with the options now.] Indeed, Revitalizing Eye Cream didn't change it. However, it did brighten the area around my eyes, and it absolutely did reduce puffiness - particularly after I slept on my head (I can get myself into some weird positions while I sleep).

The ingredients are the same as the face cream, but the eye cream has a proprietary HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex that has to be magical. Just as the face cream includes none of the "bad guys," the eye cream is also free of them.

Both the Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream and the Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream are perfect for day and night. They absorb quickly and do not interfere with makeup. In fact, they smoothe the way for makeup, making me look fresh and rested and allowing my foundation and eye makeup to glide on.

That' why both of these wonderful skin-care products have earned their way into my elite corner. The containers are large, so they will both last me for several more months. Then, I must replenish them.

You can purchase TATCHA products at their Web site, where shipping is free and samples are provided. Check out this link if you would like to know more about the company. You can also purchase TATCHA skin care at Barneys.

TATCHA Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

How can TATCHA turn out such amazing products - customized to satisfy every need? No matter what your skin type, age, or preferences, there is a TATCHA product (or suite of products) for you.

In August, I introduced TATCHA here and learned that many of you were already devotees of this brand and its fabulous products. For over 300 years, Japan’s geishas have been held in awe for their breathtakingly beautiful, porcelain skin. Perfected through centuries of timeless rituals, the beauty secrets of the geishas had been passed down from one generation to the next by word of mouth - that is, until TATCHA rediscovered their coveted daily regimens in a 200-year-old manuscript, written in the twilight of Japan’s Edo Period.

Traveling back to the City of 2000 Temples (Kyoto), TATCHA worked with teams of scientists, scholars, and geisha themselves to decipher the rituals and ingredients from this text. What they uncovered is the very foundation of Eastern skin care and beauty.

TATCHA’s formulas pay homage to the icon of Eastern beauty and their own storied heritage. Now the secrets of the geisha live on through a proprietary process involving the most precious green teas, Okinawa red algae, rice bran, and other time-tested ingredients.

TATCHA Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($48) was made for me. You won't convince me otherwise. TATCHA had my clone in their labs as they envisioned and created this revolutionary skin mist. She was a woman with dry, possibly aging, skin. She wanted more than anything to look dewy and fresh again - not just in the morning right before she leaves for work, but at any time of day when she needs a boost. She told the researchers that she cares about botanical ingredients that unlock nature's secrets. She also prioritized the appearance of the container, explaining that lavender blue is calming - one key to feeling and looking younger.

TATCHA took her vision and turned it into Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, a mist among many on the market, but one that's unique.

What is it?  Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is a silky liquid moisturizer that's formulated with green tea, squalane, red algae, Japanese rice bran, and TATCHA's HADASEI-3 bioactive complex. It should be misted onto the face for a boost of soothing hydration and dewy, luminous, replenished-looking skin anytime, anywhere.

The milky emulsion contains moisturizers and humectants that leave my skin rehydrated and dewy. Because it does not contain the high levels of alcohol and fragrance found in conventional hydrating sprays, it has no drying effect that would be counterproductive to a hydrating purpose.

Named one of the 10 best hydrating facial mists by Vogue.com, it's already made its mark on the beauty profession. Daniel Martin, celebrity makeup artist, keeps Luminous Dewy Skin Mist in his bag. Simply put, he said it feels good. He has already gone through several bottles of TATCHA’s spritz since discovering it earlier this summer. “I love layering it on before foundation to prep the skin. In some cases, it’s hydrating enough that I don’t even need a separate moisturizer,” adds Martin, who also uses the mist after makeup application to set makeup in place. Like me, he loves TATCHA's packaging. It's pretty and luxurious, and we all know pretty makes pretty.

Another leading magazine, Harper's Bazaar.com, featured Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (along with its sister mask) by reporting that it seals in intense hydration. Finish your hydrating treatment with Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, "a mist of botanical water with humectants to rehydrate your complexion minus any drying alcohols, so you look luminous all day."

This wonderful skin mist will not affect your makeup - other than refreshing it. I'm using it now as I go from the cool, fall air into office air, which is very drying. I spritz lightly (just a few pumps) to renew my skin and my makeup. Luminous Dewy Skin Mist will make your skin dewy and fresh, but never oily - just instantly revived and refreshed. Your co-workers may wonder what miracles are happening in the ladies room. Use it in summer or winter; there's no constraint on the season for this miracle mist.

You really need to check out TATCHA's Web site, especially if you can't get to a Barneys, the best-known retailer for TATCHA. If you register for TATAHA's newletter, they will send you a VIP sampler set. TATCHA is a "find," and I recommend a trial.

Those geishas were onto something. Don't you think we should encourage TATCHA to develop a cosmetics line?

TATCHA - Superb Skin Care from Japan

I want to introduce you to TATCHA, a beauty company that is inspired by ancient geisha skin-care traditions. I think you're going to love it as much as I do.

Until TATCHA contacted me and sent me a few product samples, I had no knowledge of the company. TATCHA skin care is available exclusively at Barneys, online at TATCHA.com, and in a variety of boutiques around the world. The products are made in Japan. They launched over two years ago with their signature beauty blotting papers, which were originally created and used by gold craftsmen, and they recently announced the availability of a full skin-care line.

TATCHA has received great coverage recently by respected media, including Vogue (US, Brazil, Great Britian, and Australia), Marie Claire, Allure, and the Today Show, but remain largely, I believe, an undiscovered gem. Maybe we can change that!

What did I get to try? Let's start with TATCHA Radiant Deep Brightening Serum ($150). This serum is the ultimate luxury serum. Considered a brightening serum (huge in Asia, becoming more and more popular in the United States), Deep Brightening Serum is composed with time-tested Asian botanicals and TATCHA's proprietary HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex for radiant looking skin. The serum hydrates my skin nicely, while adding a brightened, even-toned appearance. It is very lightweight in feel, so a little goes a long way on application. While I was using it over a period of about four weeks, I often had to remind myself to top it with TATCHA's moisturizer. It made my skin feel nice and moist, with absolutely no residue or stickiness that some serums leave behind. If you want to see all the ingredients, just click on the link above, which will take you to the serum's page at the TATCHA site.

I had a deluxe sample of TATCHA Supple Moisture Rick Silk Cream ($150), and I nearly cried when I swept the last cream out of the jar after three weeks.  This weightless-feeling gel-cream of liquid silk, squalane, royal jelly, and HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex is absolutely perfect for summer. It leaves my skin beautifully moisturized with no feel of a heavy cream (heavy moisturizers are a staple in my routine). It's perfect under makeup. It's formulated with natural ingredients. Even better, it has no mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, PEGs, PPGs, urea, DEA, TEA, or phthalates. They weren't in the skin-care secrets of the geishas, and you won't find them in TATCHA. Again, just click on the link above to see the ingredients. I plan to order this moisturizer. If I can have only one of the products - given the obscene amount of money I've spent on makeup and perfume this month - it's this one. I haven't had the opportunity to try it in the harshest winter months, but I'll bet I like it then just as much.

I'll pause and remind you that my skin ranges from dry to very dry and is sensitive. In my opinion, these products from TATCHA will perform equally well on all skin types, mainly because they are so lightweight on the skin, even though they are packed with good stuff for your skin.

The third product I tested was TATCHA Polished Rice Enzyme Powder ($65). The exfoliating grains come in three variations: Gentle, Classic, and Deep. Even though my instincts told me to start with Gentle, I started with Classic. Why was I hesitant? Physical exfoliators and I have a rocky relationship. My skin is very thin and tears (micro-tears leave red, raw-feeling skin) at the slightest provocation. Not with these!

The water-activated enzyme powder of rice bran, papaya, and TATCHA's HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex will reveal your skin's natural gleam, exfoliating without harsh abrasives for effortless baby-soft skin. These rice enzyme powders function as a 2-in-1 cleanser for those who aren't wearing makeup and would like a nice deep clean. I was impressed. I mix the powder with water, and a paste forms. The paste thoroughly cleanses my skin, leaving it soft and clear.

My overall verdict is that TATCHA is a keeper. I love the products I tried, and I'm looking forward to a long-term relationship. I'm already coveting the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, which I discovered online.

You really need to check out TATCHA's Web site, especially if you can't get to a Barneys. TATCHA is a "find," and I recommend a visit. Those geishas were onto something.
