Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow in Rose Ballerine from the Chérie Bow Collection for Spring 2013

Dior's 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eye Shadow Palette in Rose Ballerine (#724, $61) from the Chérie Bow Collection for Spring 2013 is a pastel beauty. I found it at Nordstrom.

I usually can't wear pink eye shadows, but these variations of pink - the showcased color of the collection - have enough fleshy, warm tones in them that they work perfectly. There is another palette in the collection, Charmeuse, #854. It is way too pink for my tastes.

If the photo hasn't sold you on how pretty this five-color eye palette is, take a look at the swatch photos. I applied all of the shadows with a sponge-tipped applicator, starting at the upper left and moving clockwise, ending with the center white shade. I took my photos in full, mid-day sun.

The four shimmering shades that surround the centerpiece all apply beautifully - no crumbles, no stray sparklies, even color. I love them all. The pink at the top of my arm is the "pinkest" shade, offering a pop of pink that looks amazingly beautiful on the brow bone.  The ivory pink is a whisper pink with a touch of warmth, despite its icy appearance. The grey-toned taupe is one of those must-have shades. It complements the other shades in the palette beautifully.

The ivory pink is more nude than pink. It's an exquisite base color, and it looks special when paired with the grey-taupe. The center color is metallic. It appears to be liquid silver when applied. Save it for party time; it's too glitzy for daytime wear, but at night, you'll shine. I'm glad to own it because it has color; it's not one of those "overlay" shades that adds sparkle without color. It carries its own stunning silver-white.

As I mentioned a few days ago, the Chérie Bow Collection pays homage to the ribbons worn by the Duchesse de Fontanges, a French noblewoman and one of the many mistresses of Louis XIV of France. I'll bet she would have had his full attention the night she appeared at the ball wearing these colors.

I purchased my Rose Ballerine 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eye Shadow Palette at Nordstrom. It is available at all Dior counters and whether Dior is sold online.

I'm sure Ballerine is absolutely beautiful on you, Charlestongirl. With your blue eyes and classic cool blond coloring, how could it be anything but graceful and delicate on you? This is the perfect collection of mother-of-pearl colors and is ideally suited to those of you who are fair. The pink flesh tones made me think instantly of Botticelli's Venus rising from her seashell. For those of us whose coloring is more intense, though, this palette is more like a lovely collection of highlighters.

As for Charmeuse, it is stunning in a rocker chic sort of way. It is definitely more intense and dramatic. Ah, if only I were younger . . . . :-)

Hi Eileen,

I was not at all taken with Charmeuse. Yep, a little too rocker for me. :) Plus WAY too pink.

It is very beautiful, the colours would all work well for me as a fair blue eyed. I bought the garden collection palette last spring and it is very beautiful but honestly it isnt the easiest to wear, this one would be much more suitable, however I do love the pastels from last year and have worn it some as they are colours you dont often see and I wanted to own it in a great formulation like Dior. I will definitely want to have a look at this collection, can be hard as limited availability and nearest store 100 miles does not carry everything, they didnt have the sugnature piece last spring I recall. I would love to get a look at it as well its pricey!! Anyway I am thnking how I could use the spring palette from last year with some taupey type colour. I have accumulated a fair amount considering I was ust a mascara blush, 1-3 eyeliners for years. Now I am overflowing with palettes, at the age of 44 I become makeup crazy who knew... I have always enjoyed it just didnt take time and $ for myself. I love your blog as I have learned so much, thanks for all you do!!

@ angus mum 1 - I laughed when I read your comment, it could be my story. I'm at the point now that I'm not buying any more makeup until I make a dent in my current stash since makeup does deteriorate and I'm out of room as well. I also want to save my money to buy everything from TATCHA. My skin loves that line. The crystal massager is calling my name.

What a stunning quad! Is Nars Lhasa at all close to the Dior grey taupe shade?
