The Friday Forum - March 18

There are few flowers blooming right now, but the beautiful hellebores are. Known to some as the Lenten Rose, this gorgeous plant delights me when it blooms. The photograph was taken in my garden, where it is supposed to be 70 degrees today - while I'm at work!

This was another fun week of beauty deliveries at my house! I hope we enjoy some sunshine this weekend so I can get some good swatch photos for you. I've got many nice things to tell you about, including the new Shiseido and Josie Maran products that I promised to cover last week! I never made it. If only there were more hours in a day. I know next week should be filled with new makeup. I'm expecting to see the new colors from Dior, and maybe some from Chanel too. Later today, I'll have a treat for you: a sneak peak at a new Bobbi Brown foundation. I'm wearing it to work today.

For those of you who have been keeping up with my post-surgery progress, I am going to physical therapy twice/week, and my therapist continues to help me improve. He's actually helping me a bit with my right knee, which had started to bother me again - for the first time since I became bionic in the left knee. I was hoping my right knee would stay "quiet." It had until a substitute therapist had me do some exercises that hurt it. I guess that was too much to expect for it to stay pain-free, with no cartilage in it.

What's new in your life? It's time for The Friday Forum. We use the forum to share information and chat. Did you find any deals you couldn't resist this week? Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Do you have a question others might be able to answer? Want to talk about skin care? Just use the comments. Don't be shy. Just make sure to ask any question you might have over the weekend. By Monday, most readers have moved on.

We have two great giveaway contests going. The first, for Tarte's Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum ends tomorrow night at midnight. Make sure to enter at this link. I started the Bare Escentuals contest for one of four new bareMinerals skin care goodies last night. You should enter at this link before the deadline on March 25.

Thanks for reading Best Things in Beauty! Got anything you want to talk about?

what a beautiful flower! just take it easy on your knee and don't let others push you too hard during exercise, your body knows its limit.
i am hunting for a perfect red lipstick, so i may be checking out Ulta to see if they have any i might like this weekend.

Hi Anna,

I am not pushing it, I hope. I probably need to exercise more! One interesting factoid...I got in a pair of slacks that has been too small for a long time. I'm going shopping in my closet this weekend.

Let us know if you find the perfect red!

For those of you who celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I hope you all had fun and spent a happy day with friends and family.

Today I went to Nordstrom's to pick up all the goodies I had gotten on pre-sale. I love those triple point times for stocking up. And, it's such fun going from department to department picking up packages. The SA's in the cosmetic section are such a warm and friendly group of ladies. It was a pleasure to chat with them and exclaim over all the extra treats they had added to the bags. It was great retail therapy :-)

I'm sure everyone is well aware of the tragedy and hardship that has struck Japan. Living in earthquake country, every time there is a temblor of significant size, I feel a rush of empathy. I listen to the news and read the paper and just want to weep. Japan needs our help. The fastest and easiest way to make a donation that will find its way quickly to the Japanese people is to donate on-line via the Red Cross. Large or small, any and all contributions are desperately needed. Sorry to end on such a somber note.

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend filled with mild weather and plenty of sunshine.

Happy weekend, Eileen. We don't need any more earthquakes - anywhere! I saw a new piece on what the "big one" might look like in the U.S. Scary.
