New: YSL Beauté Metal Eyes Collection Waterproof Eye Pencil

YSL Beauté has a new eyeliner that deserves your attention. The Waterproof Eye Pencil ($25) is available in six colors. There are the usual black (Black Ink) and brown (Patent Leather) shades, but there are some enticing, colorful shades too.

No 3, Ultramarine, is the one that sang to me. I was equally enticed by #6, Amazon Green, but I have resisted - so far. There is a lovely lighter green, #7, Absinthe Green, and a violet shade, #5, oddly called Simmering Burgundy. I can't figure out how Simmering Burgundy got its name.

These pencils apply like a dream and then stay put - for a very long time. YSL says they hold for 16 hours. I think they would stick around for days if you didn't remove them. Seriously waterproof and long-lasting, they don't budge once set. These pencils offer the look of a liquid or gel, but with the convenient precision of a pencil for application.

There is not much more to say about an eyeliner pencil, except that this one, with the long-lasting and easy-to-apply jewel tones, is worthy of a look-see. I purchased Ultramarine. I love dark blue eyeliners, and they aren't as easy to find as black and brown. Here is a swatch photo of Ultramarine, taken in outdoor sunlight.

Look at how pretty the blue shade is! It is lighter than navy, but not cobalt. I even see a slight tinge of periwinkle in it and perhaps a tilt toward iris. I had to have it. I am still being tempted by Amazon Green. On the eyelid, it appears teal to me (another shade I love). When you visit your YSL counter to see the new Metal Eyes Pure Chromatics Wet and Dry Eye Shadow palettes, make sure to look for these.

You can purchase the Metal Eyes Collection at the YSL Web site, Neiman Marcus, and, I suspect, all YSL counters now.

So, Charlestongirl, how do you like these in comparison to the the Armani? It sounds like a very similar formula. YSL will probably do quite well with these because the Armani was so limited in color choices and quickly sold out. Because my eyes are a dark green, I love deep violet or burgundy liners so I'll have to check out that Simmering Burgundy. Ultramarine is also calling to me. I bet it would look great with EB's Storm. Hmmmm . . . I'll definitely have to take a look. For those of you who think Storm is just another gray shadow, it isn't. It has a very light, luminescent, barely there blue glow about it. It reminds me of a stormy sky being lit up by a flash of blue white lightning. But I digress . . . :-) I'll go take a look at YSL today.

Sounds like quite a collection emerging from YSL - I can't wait to see the shadow palette and now these pencils. Are these liners easily removed? I've used a few that even a good eye makeup remover won't budge.

BTW, I was getting a Lippman manicure while you got your makeover from Justin. Next time...

Eileen, my first thought was that these WERE the Armani pencils, but in more colors! The Armani ones already sold out here. Crazy!

I wore Storm today - Love that shade!

Hi Ava,

No, these liners are not easy to remove. They will come off if you use an eyelid scrub. Otherwise, it takes two washes (one at night and a shower in the morning) for me to get them off.

omg - an eyelid "scrub?" Is this emphasis or a product? :)

No kidding, Ava! These are fabulous. I couldn't live without them.

My eye doctor recommended them, and I love the way they remove eye makeup. I use one every morning in the shower and at other times I am desperate to remove liner or other stubborn products.

I get at Costco or CVS.

Kathy Shoreman posted this on Twitter. The link goes to her swatch photo. A bit dark (taken in store), but really helpful!

@BTiBeauty they are gorgeous and indelible!! Check out my pix! http://t.co/LLoBPxX

These pencils plus the Wet/Dry shadows look worth investigating. As well as the scrub. I also like a blue eyeliner, and a good one is hard to find. Thanks!

I agree, Kathy! I snap up every good dark blue.

Oh Charlestongirl, I love you and your dark blue liners! You've actually influenced me, even with my brown eyes I am finding I enjoy the navy shades more than I used to. Plus, they're supposed to make the whites of your eyes brighter. :-)
