Favorites: Facial Masks from Chantecaille, Sisley, Natura Bissé, and RéVive

I'm a firm believer in masks. They treat the skin, feel good, and relax me. I will try almost any mask, although my favorites are those that hydrate my skin, even my skin tone, exfoliate, and/or infuse my skin with ingredients that will continue to work after I remove the mask.

I have a few favorite masks - the ones to which I turn regularly. Today, I'll name them. Please remember, I have dry, somewhat sensitive skin. If your skin is oily, the masks I use will not be the best ones for you. Fortunately, there are masks for every skin type - and some masks are suitable for all skin types.

Chantecaille's Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask ($79), shown at the top of this feature, is the one I use most often - simply because I treat it like a night cream, not a mask. I do not remove it. Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask soothes, brightens, and hydrates dry, irritated skin and is especially indicated for over-exposure to the elements. Jasmine is extremely effective in promoting cellular turnover without the potential irritation of acids.

The bulb from a special breed of lily oxygenates and purifies the skin, increasing microcirculation, reducing redness, and noticeably lightening dull complexions. Chamomile helps calms inflammation. Vitamin B5 aids in the repair of damaged tissue. Saccharides work to soften dry skin and contribute long-term moisture. Macadamia oil, rich in nutrients, is highly nourishing and moisturizing. Seaweed helps regulate sebum production for smooth, clear skin. Jasmine aligns the spiritual and physical for a sense of security in the body, a deeply centered and joyous feeling. Rose soothes and uplifts, helping to open the heart and promote a sense of well-being. Geranium has wonderful balancing properties, promotes healing, and stimulates the lymphatic system.

I apply this mask generously, then I leave it on my skin and go to bed. Most of it absorbs quickly. It does its work overnight, and when I awaken, my skin looks moisturized and refreshed. I love it.

Sisley's Black Rose Cream Mask ($158) is another favorite. I have to admit that I love every one of Sisley's masks, and I frequently use them all (not at the same time). This one is my favorite. I even love the color of the tube.

Black Rose Cream Mask is the first Sisley mask enriched with anti-aging ingredients. A soothing mask rich in trace elements, vitamins, and plant extracts, it works instantly on the signs of aging and fatigue to restore vitality to the skin.

Smoothing and Plumping Actions

Extract of black rose will offer an instant tensor effect, smoothing with antioxidant properties.
Three anti-aging ingredients contribute to smoothing and plumping.
  • Extract of alkekengi calyx, which has anti-collagenase and anti-free radical action;
  • Extract of padina pavonica to stimulate the synthesis of GAGs;
  • Vitamin E acetate to reinforce the skin's natural defenses.
Revitalizing Actions
  • Extract of red vine leaf to tone skin and improve radiance
  • Extract of chlorella to stimulate superoxide dismutase activity, which protects skin from free radicals
  • Essential oil of geranium to stimulate the skin
Soothing and Softening Actions
  • Extract of great mullein (new active ingredient) to fight free radicals and soothe the skin
  • Shea butter, which protects, moisturizes, and soothes
  • Pro-vitamin B5 to soften and moisturize
  • Essential oils of rose and magnolia, also for soothing
Nourishing, Moisturizing, and Repairing Actions
  • Vegetable glycerine to moisturize
  • Phytosqualene, with emollient and moisturizing properties
  • Shea butter to nourish and repair
Sisley's Black Rose Cream Mask was an instant hit on introduction. Its one I will never be without.
Natura Bissé's Tolerance Enzyme Peel ($150) is a perfect mask for those with sensitive skin. I have used it since its introduction, and I'm totally smitten. This enzymatic peel for delicate skin must have been made for me - and possibly you?

Tolerance Enzyme Peel is an exceptionally effective and gentle exfoliator that was developed "based on cutting-edge cosmetic engineering with a blend of ingredients that emit ultra-soft vibrations and provide a multi-sensory experience."

Tolerance Enzyme Peel gently pampers the skin with a non-aggressive (granule-free) micro-exfoliation of the most damaged layers of the skin, revealing an even, smooth, soft, and luminous appearance. Ideal for all skin types, especially the most sensitive and delicate skins, Tolerance Enzyme Peel is formulated with prickly pear (opuntia ficus) and papaya (carica papaya) extracts that exfoliate and renew the skin from within by stimulating a natural self-exfoliating process. The peel also includes a botanical extract of chamomile that soothes, decongests, and maintains the skin’s natural pH balance and a sugar extract from bio-fermented zea mays, along with other derma-soothing and moisturizing ingredients that will help you maintain a porcelain complexion. It does this without without causing any inflammation, redness, or feelings of discomfort. I can attest, through use, that it's ideal for the most sensitive and delicate skins. It was designed to work for all skin types.

I was afraid to try Tolerance Enzyme Peel at first. It contains salicylic acid, an ingredient that burns my skin on contact more often than not. I chatted for a long time with Natura Bissé's National Director of Sales when she was at Neiman Marcus. She assured me that my skin wouldn't react to Tolerance Enzyme Peel, and she gave me samples to try (and later sent more). She was absolutely, totally, 100% correct. Not only did it not irritate my sensitive skin, it improved it. What's totally amazing is that it "does its thing" in only a few minutes, which will leave anyone who says exfoliation is too much trouble at a loss for words.

Here are the benefits, according to Natura Bissé.

  • Non-aggressive exfoliation
  • Upon application to skin, the gel texture adheres to the epidermis and perfectly lifts off the dead cells
  • Allows for exfoliation in the more delicate areas of the face (eye contour and lip area)
  • Your skin is left smooth and velvety; its texture is visibly refined
  • Deep sensation of well-being; your face breathes and glows with a natural radiance
  • Ideal treatment to alternate with Natura Bissé's fabulous Glyco Extreme Peel during the resting periods
  • Does not cause photosensitivity, but using sunscreen during the treatment (an SPF 30 at a minimum) is recommended
The experience of using Tolerance Enzyme Peel is extremely pleasant. Apply it with average thickness all over your face (and neck if you wish). Massage the product with ascending circular movements until the texture liquefies on the skin. That takes about a minute or less. Once the peel liquifies, you can wash it off, but you really should continue to gently massage your face for a short time, ensuring you dislodge any dead skin cells and dissolve impurities. Natura Bissé recommends that you then perform gentle friction maneuvers using the tips of the fingers, area by area, and always holding the skin. You don't have to perform that step (in my opinion); a gentle massage wherever you applied the product works just fine. Remove the excess product with a sponge moistened with warm water - or just wash it off as I do. It's easy to use, fast, effective - and best of all, gentle.

How does my skin look after I use Tolerance Enzyme Peel? Smooth, even-toned, pore-free, and glowing. It leaves me with a healthy, rosy glow (not red), a glow that I don't have naturally. My skin feels smooth and clean, without any dryness that might be caused by stripping the skin's moisture. How perfect could it be?

RéVive Glycolic Renewal Peel ($295) was inspired by Dr. Gregory Brown's clinical work and the scientific heritage of the  brand. This high-performance, professional peel system for at-home use requires no downtime and produces no lingering redness. This advanced, easy-to-use, two-step, skin-transforming system reveals skin that looks younger, smoother, brighter, more even-toned and overall healthier – immediately and in the future.

The peel set comes with a jar of 30 Professional Cleaning Pads and a bottle of Professional Renewal Gel. There is glycolic acid in both, but at different concentrations. You are supposed to use the complete system one to two times per week at night. I think the instruction to use it at night is aimed at letting your skin rest and renew.

For Step 1, you use the Glycolic Renewal Peel Professional Cleansing Pad by gently sweeping it in circular motions across freshly cleansed skin to prepare the skin for Step 2 of the system. This is a refreshing step.

For Step 2, you squeeze a generous, quarter-sized amount of Professional Renewal Gel into the palm of your hand, and, using your fingertips, gently apply a liberal amount of the gel to your face. Leave it on for up to five minutes and then rinse it off with water. It may tingle a little bit during that five minutes. That tells me the peel is working, but if you feel the tingle is uncomfortable, wash it off at four minutes. It's as easy as that.

Follow with RéVive serum and moisturizer - or your favorite nighttime serum and moisturizer. I would not recommend using a serum or moisturizer with retinol immediately after the peel. RéVive recommends that you use an SPF moisturizer during the day for sun protection and to preserve results from the Glycolic Renewal Peel Professional System. You might also want to consider using the peel on your chest, shoulders, and the backs of your hands to achieve the same smoothing, exfoliating benefits. The glycolic acid in the peel is tempered by moisturizing and treatment ingredients, such as glycerin, pentylene glycol (humectant), arginine, and camellia oleifera leaf extract.

As always, Dr. Brown has created a perfectly crafted product for me - and I suspect his millions of other devotees. Each time I have used the peel, I have been thrilled with the results, which are immediate. My skin feels smooth (you get the imagery) and fresh to the touch, and I can see the results in the mirror. My skin tone is evened, and my skin glows the way healthy skin should. This peel works (unlike other new ones I've tried in the last year). It's pricey, but on a per-use basis, it's much less expensive than going for a peel at a spa, dermatologist's, or clinic.

I could write all night because there are many worthy masks. These are the ones I use most frequently, but they are not the only ones I use. I decide which mask to use based on what I think my skin needs, whether it be hydration, soothing, or exfoliation. I hope you will find one you like. It just takes trial and sometimes error.

Natura Bissé Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse

Natura Bissé's Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse ($135) is perfectly named. Using this luminous cleansing cream is a luxury.

The luxurious and rich cleansing micro-emulsion eliminates impurities and every type of makeup (including waterproof makeup) while illuminating the skin. Exquisite and silky, it has a lovely, mild lavender fragrance - perfect for before bed. It does not strip the skin’s own natural oils. In fact, it makes my skin feel softer.

The delicious formulation is based on emollient ingredients derived from natural cane sugar and soothes and hydrates the skin. The ingredients include pomegranate extract, micro-emulsion glycerin oil, vitamin F, vitamin E, and α-Bisabol. The Pomegranate extract, rich in ellagic acid, provides instant luminosity to the skin. It's paraben-free too. I love the fact that Natura Bissé doesn't make ludicrous anti-aging claims for this cleanser. Cleansers are on your face for such a short time, they aren't going to absorb and help you shed 10 years.

A complete and refreshing cleansing ritual in just one step that is ideal for eyes and face.
  • Innovative makeup removing formula for face and eyes
  • Helps keep the skin hydrated
  • Helps keep skin feeling soft and looking luminous
  • A unique and multipurpose product that effectively removes all traces of makeup
You should use Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse morning and night, but I only use it at night. It comes in a jar, which is unwieldy for me in the shower. I need to have a pump container there. What impresses me the most about it - beyond the feel, consistency, and experience - is its effectiveness. It's one of the few cleansers that is ultra-gentle, but still removes every last trace of my eye makeup. Most cleansers leave me with mascara runs under my eyes, and I have to quickly remove them with eye makeup remover - an extra step that isn't time-consuming, but one that should be unnecessary.

Here are Natura Bissé's directions for use, embellished by yours truly.
  1. Using a spatula, apply the product on the palm of your clean and dry hand. Gently massage on the face, neck and décolleté, concentrating on the eye area (to remove eye makeup).
  2. With moistened hands, massage desired areas once again. The product immediately transforms into an exquisite emulsion. It seems to melt from a gel to a liquid.
  3. Remove the product using Natura Bissé cleansing sponges moistened in warm water. Or you could do what I do. Wash it off using your hands and water. Rinse repeatedly until it "feels" removed.
I know it's pricey, but a jar lasts forever. You don't need much for one cleansing. Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse is a treat you owe yourself. Is it necessary? No, you could use Cetaphil. You just won't feel like a queen.

New: Natura Bissé High Density Lift

Normally, I wouldn't write about brand new skin care before I tested it thoroughly. However, I have a "close personal relationship" with Natura Bissé that's something akin to love. So I'll tell you about the company's latest miracle cream: High Density Lift ($290). Testers and samples have arrived at Neiman Marcus, but the for-sale product isn't expected for about a week.

Inspired by the newest trends and technology in facial lifting procedures and formulated with Natura Bissé's INHIBIT COLLECTION (a cosmetic alternative to micro-injections), High Density Lift is a revolutionary bio-revitalizing treatment. It was created to help us recapture the youthful definition of our facial contours by stimulating increased volume and internal lifting. It's formulated with a new PDGF-Remodeling Complex and the highest quality dual hyaluronic acids (HAs).

A breakthrough in Natura Bissé's quest for perfection led the company to an unprecedented treatment for reshaping and filling wrinkles. A concentrated blend of state-of-the-art ingredients promises to redensify the skin, plump it, and fill expression lines and wrinkles. How?

PDGF-Remodeling Complex is formulated with a proprietary, revolutionary ingredient - used for the first time in a cosmetic formula. It is a highly precise key polypeptide, derived from biotechnology, that helps to improve the quality of collagen, elastin, and natural HA. The PDGF-Remodeling Complex is the ingredient that provides the remodeling effect on the skin.

The dual HAs are unique, providing a perfect synergy of very low molecular weight HA with a cross-linked high molecular weight HA. The two combine to naturally fill fine lines and wrinkles through a tension mesh effect that provides natural lifting actions. HA helps maintain high levels of moisture in the skin (it's nature's sponge), even under demanding conditions, to plump the skin for a more youthful appearance.

In summary, the scoop on High Density Lift is that it:
  • Rebuilds youthful volume, lifting the skin day after day;
  • Restores density, fullness, and elasticity to the skin;
  • Visibly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles;
  • Replenishes optimal hydration levels, providing day-long moisture; and
  • Minimizes pores.
Given my experience with Natura Bissé products, I suspect High Density Lift works. Nasrin Tanaly applied it to my face today, and I loved the feel and experience of application. She sent me home with a few samples. I won't be able to test it for 3-4 weeks, my preference for testing skin care before I evaluate it. I may have to invest in a jar. Amazingly, High Density Lift is priced at only $290. For high-end skin care these days, that's a bargain.

Definitely stop by your favorite Natura Bissé counter and ask for an introductions and samples. We can try it together.

Natura Bissé NB•CEUTICAL Tolerance Recovery Cream

Without a doubt, I must restock my Natura Bissé NB•CEUTICAL Tolerance Recovery Cream ($155) during Beauty Event at Neiman Marcus. My first jar was a gift from Natura Bissé. It became an essential component of my skin-care routine. Now, I'm bereft because I ran out of it last week. I had scraped out the last bit of usable product from the jar, and I'm left longing for another. That's my definition of an essential moisturizer. Just as bad, I ran out of Natura Bissé's Eye Recovery Balm this week. I'll be buying that too. These two products are perfect for sensitive skin - all skin types, really - and they fall into my heavenly category.

Tolerance Recovery Cream is a rich and luxurious emulsion that provides extraordinary hydration; it instantly melts on the skin, deeply infusing it with an unprecedented nourishing and refreshing (slightly cooling) sensation. It's intended to be used day and night, but I love to apply it before bed, knowing it will rev my skin overnight. I have worn it during the day. It's perfect under makeup.

This lavish cream is formulated with Pro-Tolerance Peptide Complex, which includes 30 targeted ingredients. It provides the skin with a youthful appearance and improves the skin’s self-defense mechanism. It contains properties to restore the skin’s hydration levels while soothing, regenerating, and protecting. Do you ever feel like you're drier at the end of a day than you were in the morning? That's one reason I give my skin a big "drink of water" when I go to bed.

Tolerance Recovery Cream is great for all skin-types, but especially for the most sensitive and compromised skins (e.g., after a procedure, sunburned skin, dehydrated skin). The benefits you can expect follow in no particular order.
  • Allergen and paraben-free
  • Provides intense hydration and enriches the skin's natural lipid barrier
  • Calming and nourishing properties to soothe skin
  • Inhibits degrading enzymes from destroying collagen and elastin
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces redness and other signs of irritation (great for those of us who have natural redness)
  • Increases the skin’s resistance for sensitive skin types and prevents signs of irritation from occurring
  • Decongesting (depuffing) and repairing properties
  • Little scent - what's there is pleasant, but barely detectable
The NB•CEUTICAL Collection by Natura Bissé offers pro-tolerance and intensive recovery solutions. The line contains protective and recuperative products to help the skin increase its tolerance to internal and external elements and enhance recovery when affected. I love everything I've tried. I desperately want to try the Lip Recovery Balm, so I'll probably buy that too. I've been using the Tolerance Cleanser, but it's a big tube and I'm not close to depleting it. So little of the product is required to thoroughly cleanse my skin. I keep that one in my shower.

There's a Natura Bissé GWP during Beauty Event. With any $300 purchase (and I'm sure I'll get there restocking my bathroom), you will receive:
  • Facial Cleansing Gel, 75 ml;
  • The Cure Sheer Cream, 20 ml;
  • Tensolift Neck Cream, 20 ml;
  • and a Natura Bissé White Frosted Bag, which looks useful even if not exciting.
I want the gift! If you have any questions about Natura Bissé, call Denise Thomas at (703) 761-1600, extension 3279 or 3288. Or you can e-mail Denise at denisethomas744@aol.com (I have permission to post her e-mail). Do not settle for a sales associate who would "love" to help you help her meet her goal for the month. Talk with Denise, the expert.

The Tysons Galleria store plans to host another Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial. I can't remember the approximate date, but make sure to mention to Denise that you are interested if you live in the DC area. The "bubble" is an experience you must have - at least once in your life.

Natura Bissé Diamond Extreme Eye

I'll admit to being an eye cream connoisseur. I have tried everything in hopes of finding the best of the best. I have developed a very short and exclusive list of the best of the best. My most recent addition to the list is Natura Bissé's Diamond Extreme Eye ($195).

Let's get this out of the way, it's pricey. You pay for luxury. I've grown accustomed that that - whether it's for fashion, cosmetics, skin care, fragrance, or art and jewelry. I fell for Diamond Extreme Eye immediately, seeing effects within days of my first use, and I've been hooked for months. When I fall, I fall hard.

Natura Bissé has translated the "language of luxury" into an eye cream that does it all. This eye treatment is considered an energizing lift for the eyes. It offers a dual lifting effect under the skin's surface and externally. My fine lines and wrinkles (hush) have been notably minimized. They aren't gone, but I don't see them as often. The area around my eyes is much more hydrated - and the effect lasts all day and all night. I apply it morning and before bed. I don't really have dark circles, but Diamond Extreme Eye is said to help with them too. It definitely helps take puffiness out from around the eyes by improving microcirculation and banishing the excess moisture under the skin. Mine is caused by sleeping on my right side most of the time - a no-no, but you do what you have to do to sleep at night. Applying Diamond Extreme Eye makes the skin around my eyes look smooth and healthy, and it feels much silkier than it did before I started using it. My initial applications were from a generous gift I received after my Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial. I bought it after I ran out of the sample.

Why is it so good? Science explains it. The formula presents a combination of active ingredients that fight the signs of aging in our most vulnerable skin - around the eyes. This extraordinary cream fights sagging on both the upper and lower eye lids and basically makes the skin more resilient. I expect to use my eye creams both over and under. I have little patience for eye creams that I can only use above my eyes or below my eyes. My attitude is, "Oh please...develop a formula that won't creep into my eyes when applied above them, or forget about it." There's just no reason to have different products for "over and under."

Diamond Extreme Eye contains artemia salina, a bio-energy source derived from plankton, a marine extract considered to be a high-energy precursor that stimulates cell metabolism. It also contains an innovative regenerating molecule called Epidermal Self-Modulator to reinforce the skin's natural barrier by targeting the nucleus of aging skin cells for maximum results. Created through biotechnology procedures and tested using DNA technology, it has a proven capability to modulate the renewal process of the skin, resulting in radiance and luminosity.

That's not all. Diamond Extreme Eye contains other ingredients plentiful in Natura Bissé's Diamond Collection, including ursolic acid, amino acids, soy proteins, sweet pea extract, and vitamins. The ingredients that reduce puffiness are carefully selected botanical extracts, such as gotu-kola, nori, white water lily, edelweiss, and licorice - a wide variety of natural ingredients that protect and strengthen the area's circulatory and lymphatic systems. Other eye creams may contain one of these ingredients. Diamond Extreme Eye offers a full complement of them.

This eye treatment contains skin-identical lipids found in amaranth oil, as well as mango and shea butters. These active ingredients provide a protective barrier that protects against moisture loss and dehydration. My skin was softened from the first application - and that was during the harsh end-of-winter months.

As if all that weren't enough, Diamond Extreme Eye has light interfering pigments that alter the way light is reflected on the skin. That's one way it helps with dark circles and radiance.

This amazing cream even comes with directions for application that depend on your major concerns.
  • To smooth those fine lines and wrinkles, apply Diamond Extreme Eye directly on the wrinkle(s) by holding the skin between two fingers and performing gentle circular movements.
  • To increase firmness and elasticity, apply the treatment by performing circular movements, working from the inner corner of the eyebrows and finishing by gently tapping the eye contour area with the tips of your fingers.
  • To prevent dryness and dehydration, apply a generous layer on the upper and lower lids and massage with circular motions until fully absorbed.
  • To diminish the appearance of under-eye circles, gently massage from the inner to outer corner and back, repeating at least three times.
  • To diminish signs of signs of fatigue and puffy eyes, apply the cream through gentle, slow pumping movements from the inner to outer corner and back, repeating at least three times.
Seriously, who's going to do all that? I tap or lightly blend Diamond Extreme Eye all around my eyes and let it absorb. I might give any puffy area a few extra taps to stimulate lymphatic drainage. That's it. It works magnificently, without the extra application help.

Where can you find this wonderful eye treatment? I purchased my latest at Neiman Marcus. It's also available at Natura Bissé's Web site and specialty boutiques, such as SPACE.NK. Try it, particularly if you have aging or dry skin like I do. I think you will be delighted. If you don't have dry or aging skin, Natura Bissé has multiple targeted lines. You should learn more about the brand. Finding Natura Bissé is like finding Wonderland. Do you keep your anti-aging secrets to yourself, or do you share them with friends?

Natura Bissé Eye Recovery Balm

Natura Bissé's new Eye Recovery Balm ($95) has quickly established itself as an essential in my skin-care routine. I'm an eye treatment "enthusiast." I prefer that term to other terms that suggest a dependency requiring intervention, even though those other terms may be appropriate here. This ultra-restorative treatment is fabulous.

Our eyes give away our thoughts, mood, and yes, unfortunately, age. The first telltale signs of aging often appear with fine lines around the eyes. While those lines don't terrify me (no Botox for me, thank you), I do prefer to minimize them and keep the fragile skin around my eyes looking refreshed and young.

When I had my wonderful Natura Bissé oxygen facial in February, I was introduced to Eye Recovery Balm by Michael Ann Guthrie, the National Director of Sales. Subsequently, she sent me a much larger sample, so I've been using this wonderful eye balm for about two months. That's plenty of time to see (and feel) results. Michael Ann knows that my skin is ultra-sensitive, and she knew I'd "take to" the NB•CEUTICAL line, which is tailored to sensitive skin - a pro-tolerance and intensive recovery solution. The product line contains protective and recuperative ingredients to help the skin increase its tolerance to internal and external elements and enhance recovery when affected. NB•CEUTICAL products are allergen-free and paraben-free.

Eye Recovery Balm contains a rejuvenating peptide complex formulated with state-of-the-art ingredients that visibly soften expression lines and wrinkles while strengthening the skin around the eye contour area and increasing elasticity. It soothes the skin through Sensorphine, a neuropeptide that provides immediate relief to the eye contour area and strengthens the skin's own self-defense mechanisms.

The formula also contains decongestant agents, such as a biotechnology extract rich in Vitamin PP that contains anti-fatigue properties; sugar extract from biofermented Zea Mays, which helps the eye area look rested; soothing and anti-stress ingredients, such as Allantoin, a-Bisabolol, d-Panthenol, and organic aloe vera, all of which improve the resilience of the eye contour area and prevent itching, tightness, and irritation. There are also anti-free radical ingredients, such as Betaine and Vitamins E and F that keep the skin hydrated, soft, and protected throughout the day.

I love everything about Eye Recovery Balm, from the way it feels, to the way it keeps my eye area looking moist and hydrated, to the pump-top container that dispenses exactly the right amount for an application. It's definitely a keeper - one I'd highly recommend. The balm actually looks like a thick balm, not a cream, but it absorbs quickly, preparing the way for makeup.

You can purchase Natura Bissé's Eye Recovery Balm online or at Natura Bissé counters, such as Neiman Marcus or SPACE.NK.

New: Natura Bissé Tolerance Enzyme Peel

When I experienced my Natura Bissé Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial, I was introduced to a new product, Tolerance Enzyme Peel ($150). I have used it since that time, and I'm totally smitten. This enzymatic peel for delicate skin must have been made for me - and possibly you?

I am absolutely in love with Natura Bissé's new Tolerance Enzyme Peel. It launched in February. By now, I'm sure Natura Bissé regulars will have tried it. If you haven't - for whatever reason - you must. This peel, designed for sensitive skin, will delight you, no matter what skin type you have. Can exfoliating be fun? It is now.

You can purchase Natura Bissé products at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, or you can shop at Natura Bissé's Web site (where there is currently an amazing gift with purchase). Definitely swing by the next time you see a Natura Bissé counter. Ask for a sample of Tolerance Enzyme Peel. I think you're going to love it as much as I do.

The Natura Bissé Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial

Yesterday, I experienced the ultimate in luxury: the Natura Bissé Pure Air Bubble with a Diamond White Facial, compliments of Natura Bissé and Neiman Marcus. I came home feeling relaxed and pampered, and my skin looked 100% better than when I arrived. This morning, it looks like I experienced an overnight miracle. My skin looks 200% better - maybe more. It is amazingly smooth, firm, and even-toned; the little expression lines under my eyes are gone; a nagging puffy pocket from sinus congestion is gone; and the dehydration that I've been suffering this month appears to be a thing of the past. The tag line for Natura Bissé is "My skin. My secret." It won't be a secret when I go to work. I look eight years younger.

The 99.9% Pure Air Bubble is a fairly spacious, isolated area specifically designed to enhance treatments, increase the efficacy of treatment products, and transport the client to a state of complete tranquility (check!). The innovative bubble of pure, sterile air (free of contaminants and allergens) is said to improve clarity and energy and detoxify the skin, helping the Diamond White Facial provide maximum results.

The Bubble02 used by Natura Bissé was developed by a Spanish company for athletes, those with respiratory allergies and asthma conditions. The pure air oxygenates every cell in the body (so it's a whole-body experience), but is very beneficial for the skin. Natura Bissé has exclusive rights to the Bubble02 for beauty purposes. I think it made every part of my body feel good.

The Diamond White Facial is a renewing treatment that clarifies and evens skin tone, revealing a fresh and brightened complexion. The facial offers the advanced ingredients in Natura Bissé's products to minimize melanin and gently exfoliate, lightening the skin and reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation. An anti-inflammatory effect soothes the skin, providing rapid anti-aging results that last.

When I arrived, I saw something like a compact, round, white tent with a generator-like devise that was pumping air into the bubble. Space-age in appearance, it looks like a novelty - until you experience it. Was I concerned that the bubble would make me lightheaded? Honestly, yes, I didn't know what to expect. What I did know was that my Natura Bissé friends, Denise Thomas, Natura Bissé specialist at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria, and Michael Ann Guthrie, National Sales Director for Natura Bissé, wouldn't lead me astray. Once I entered the bubble, aesthetician Alexis put me completely at ease. All she had to do was remove my makeup with The Cure All-In-One Cleanser (she used Natura Bissé's Cleansing Sponges), apply The Cure Hydro Gel Toner, and I was putty - even before she applied the Glyco Extreme Peel.

After that? Alexis applied Diamond Collection products (primarily) and a few treatments that are used only for spa facials. Every so often, I detected the relaxing scent of lavender. The Pure Air Bubble ensures that each product used was super-effective - more effective than "normal" because the pure air facilitates absorption. The environment, free of pollutants - even indoor air pollution - induced my feelings of serenity. All of my little anxieties had been set free about five minutes into the facial.

My Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial lasted an hour. In addition to the facial, Alexis did a neck massage, arm massage with Diamond Body Cream (which provides exceptional hydration for a softer, sculpted, and firmer skin) and a lower leg and foot massage. When it was over? I didn't want to move. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time. Even better, I was stunned when I looked at my face in the dressing room mirror. My complexion was even, plumped, and lineless.

I've known for more years than I can count that the Natura Bissé products I know and love are top-notch. No matter what your skin concerns, Natura Bissé has a solution for you. It's a line that has earned a legion of celebrity fans, including Rachel Roy, Oprah, Beyonce, Melissa George, Nicolette Sheridan, Madonna - the list is very long. Just as long is the company's list of international skin care awards, from Vogue and Elle, to name just two.

Despite what I already knew, my Natura Bissé Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial was kind of life-changing. Yesterday, I learned a couple of things. Pure Air is a trip - a skin-care and pampering high. I don't remember being as relaxed as I was in the bubble in well over a year - even after massage therapy (which is pretty darn good). My other lesson? Natura Bissé can fix your parched late-winter skin in an hour or less. Here I am after a night's sleep (too little actually), and my skin looks totally hydrated. I've been layering the best moisturizers I have in my house during the last two weeks, trying to banish the late-winter blahs, but nothing has worked well. One hour in the bubble, and I'm "cured." I'm still on a cloud - the Natura Bissé cloud. Who said clouds were just for weather watchers and tech geeks?

I believe that the Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial is fully booked for this visit to Neiman Marcus (if you're local, you could check by calling Denise at (703) 761-1600, extension 3305) Here are the takeaways.
  • If someone every offers you a chance to experience Natura Bissé's Pure Air Bubble Diamond White Facial, do it! You know the old Monopoly fate...Do not pass Go, do not collect collect $200. Go directly to jail. You'll have missed a truly memorable experience. Make friends at your Natura Bissé counter. Ask about the bubble.
  • If you've never tried Natura Bissé skin care, stop by a counter for a consultation. There are collections for many different skin types and conditions. There will be at least one that's right for you.
  • There are two new Natura Bissé miracles for spring: Tolerance Enzyme Peel (a two-minute exfoliating treatment), developed specifically for sensitive skin, and Eye Recovery Balm (which I used last night before I went to sleep). I'll tell you more about these great new products as soon as I've tested them more thoroughly. I think you'll love them.
Many thanks to Neiman Marcus for introducing us to the Pure Air Bubble. I'm already looking forward to the bubble's next visit!

Natura Bissé The Cure Sheer Eye

I've been using Natura Bissé's The Cure Sheer Eye ($115) for about a month. I purchased it after Denise Thomas, Natura Bissé Product Specialist at Neiman Marcus, sent a sample home to me via Kathy Shoreman. I quickly decided I needed it. It was a good decision.

The Cure Sheer Eye is a tinted, creamy serum that contours the delicate skin around the eye (upper and lower lids) by firming it and visibly reducing the appearance of wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. The slight tint provides the eye area with exceptional radiance and luminosity, evening skin tone while it infuses the delicate skin with state-of-the art treatment elements.

The Cure Sheer Eye is said to prolong the lifespan of skin cells thanks to the infusion of SIRT-AP, a sirtuin modulating peptide that prevents premature aging. This cutting-edge formula includes an active combination of anti-wrinkle ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, fermentus glaciarum extract, and tripeptide-10 citrulline and tripeptide-1, which provide this delicious cream/serum with powerful anti-aging properties that help to modulate the activity of metalloproteinases (bad actors MMP-2 and MMP-3, which degrade the structure of the skin). The Cure restores the levels of young collagen and maintains the balance of collagen throughout its different cycles (production, organization, and protection). This exclusive ingredient mix mimics the skin's natural moisturizing factor, maintains the proper hydration level, and prevents dehydration, dramatically improving the texture of the skin and diminishing the visible signs of aging over time.

As if that weren't enough, The Cure Sheer Eye is formulated with a "Detox Diet Complex," based on sulphorane, which stimulates the skin's natural detoxifying process in order to smooth the skin around the eye contour area. Natura Bissé has included botanical extracts of water lily, ivy, and caffeine-carnitine complex, which work together to diminish dark circles, reduce puffiness, and effectively soothe, protect, and decongest the eye contour area, while preventing the appearance of signs of fatigue. There is also a biotechnology-created extract rich in vitamin Pp (niacin). These ingredients helps to eliminate excess fluid around the eye contour area.

The formula makes this eye treatment unique, but we aren't finished yet! This innovative formula includes pigments that "self-adapt" to every skin tone and diminish skin imperfections, leaving behind a luminous, even-toned, and healthy appearance to the eye contour area. When I pump The Cure into my palm to apply it, I marvel at how the color looks way too dark for my skin - and then totally morphs to work on my fair skin when I apply it. It disappears as it provides a "soft-focus" effect that creates multiple light micro-reflections, providing a luminous halo that softens dark shadows. It's absolutely amazing. I can wear it without concealer on top of it and still look polished, wide awake, and raring to go.

A little of The Cure Sheer Eye goes a very long way. I have been a little frustrated that one tiny pump yields more than I need. I end up wasting some every day. That depresses me, given how much I love it. I wish I could get the knack of pumping only what I need. When a product is this fabulous, you don't want any of it going down the drain!

You can purchase Natura Bissé The Cure Sheer Eye at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and other Natura Bissé counters.

Natura Bissé and an Upcoming Special Event at Neiman Marcus

I've been using Natura Bissé for more years than I care to count. The Spanish company makes excellent skin care for every type of skin.

My original introduction to Natura Bissé was made by Marilyn at Neiman Marcus. Marilyn had been to a Natura Bissé training class, and she had had an opportunity to try what is now called Glyco Peeling Exfoliant Treatment. Glyco Peeling comes in two strengths - 25% and 50%. Both feature glycolic acid and natural alpha hydroxy acids in a gel with a pH level that's complementary to the skin. Despite its heavy-duty strength, it gently exfoliates dead skin cells and reveals younger-looking skin with high-tech treatment ingredients. It was the first super-charged chemical exfoliant I found I could use on my sensitive skin, and I haven't been without it since. You should check it out if you find that physical exfoliators injure your skin.

Natura Bissé has a newer line, the NB-Ceutical Collection, that targets "inflamm-aging." The term inflamm-aging refers to aging caused by inflammation. It's a type of inflammation that you often don't see until the structure of your skin starts to degrade. Natura Bissé designed the NB-Ceutical Collection for sensitive and distressed skin, with 30 pro-tolerance ingredients to help prevent visible skin aging; stimulate the skin's natural defense, repairing, and regenerating systems; and raise the tolerance threshold for even the most sensitive skin to protect it from damage.

This week, December 9, anyone living within driving distance of Neiman Marcus at Tysons Corner Center will have a unique opportunity to meet Michael Ann Guthrie, National Sales Director for Natura Bissé. Michael Ann is described as a pistol - a larger than life personality with a passion for skin care and a talent for connecting with customers. She has worked in the beauty industry for 25 years, and for the past 11 has been with Natura Bissé. Because she believes that having an educated customer is critical to having a happy customer (with great skin), Michael Ann travels extensively, introducing women to healthy skin care and the Natura Bissé line.

You can reserve time with Michael Ann by calling Denise Thomas, Natura Bissé Product Specialist at Neiman Marcus at (703) 761, 1600, extension 3279 or 3288. Or you can e-mail Denise at denisethomas744@aol.com (she said it was OK to use her personal e-mail). Spend a half-hour with Michael Ann and get a personalized skin treatment plan - and, I'm told, some of the best entertainment you'll find at a beauty department counter.

Word has it that Neiman Marcus will have a special drawing for anyone who mentions Best Things in Beauty that day. Make sure to mention the blog! The event will be during In Circle, so there will also be a gift with purchase (and free samples, I'm sure), along with refreshments while you are there. Work nearby? Try to pop over at lunch or slip out a little early after work!
