Vaseline Aloe Fresh Summer Giveaway Contest Plus Benefit Stay Put Bonus

The oppressive summer heat is upon us! With temperatures topping 100° in many areas of the country (including mine!), how is it possible to look great and avoid a dreaded “make-up meltdown?”

Simple adjustments to your beauty routine can help you beat the heat, while still looking fabulous. Even better, Vaseline has offered a lucky Best Things in Beauty reader the opportunity to win the fabulous set of Aloe Fresh products shown at left, and I'm throwing in something extra - makeup designed to say put - to help you take advantage of Vaseline's great advice. More about the contest below. Here are Vaseline's great tips for making this brutal summer more bearable.

Switch-up Your Lotion: Summer heat waves are no time for your thick, heavy winter lotions. Swap them out for something light and fresh like Vaseline Aloe Fresh lotions. Try the Vaseline Aloe Fresh Moisturizing Body Gel right after showering. Formulated with 100% pure aloe, the lotion glides onto skin to hydrate and invigorate it.

Tame Your Tresses: Humidity during the summer can cause major frizz, especially with dry hair. The best thing you can do to combat frizz before it happens is to use a rich, leave-in conditioner that will keep your locks moisturized. You can also pop a moisture spray in your bag for mid-day quick fixes.

Preventing Makeup Meltdown: Heavy liquid and cream-based foundations can melt away with perspiration. They can also look too heavy for casual summer looks - particularly outdoors. Unless you have very dry skin, try using a light powder foundation or tinted moisturizer, preferably one with SPF. Adding a little bronzer on your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, and other spots the sun hits naturally will give you a sun-kissed glow. Waterproof mascara and eyeliner are also musts if you are going to be outdoors.

Chill Out Your Morning Routine: We can't all pop into the pool before work! Need a quick, refreshing start to your day before venturing out into the sweltering heat? Try popping your cleansers and lotions in the refrigerator overnight for a nice cooling effect in the morning.

Drink Water: We all know how important it is to drink water, and it's extremely important now. You can get dehydrated so easily, and that's bad for your body. Drinking water will keep your skin healthy too.

For more tips on lighting up your routine this summer, log on to www.glo.com/Vaseline. You can view vignettes with tips for lightening up this summer from volleyball star Gabrielle Reece and vote for your favorite lighten-up tip for a chance to win a trip for two to Malibu and a $500 shopping spree. Wouldn't that be super-nice?

Of course, your odds of winning a contest will be better here! Vaseline has offered the set of fab, clean, and hydrating Aloe Fresh body lotions and gel (I love them!) shown above to a lucky Best Things in Beauty reader. Aloe Fresh Body Lotion replenishes the skin with a sheer burst of non-sticky hydration. The fast-absorbing and non-sticky moisture leaves skin feeling cool and healthy. Aloe Fresh Protecting Body Lotion is a lightweight, daily lotion with added SPF 15 that gives the skin a refreshing moisture boost along with the daily sun protection it needs - perfect when you plan to be outdoors. Non-greasy and fast-absorbing, skin is left hydrated and revitalized. Aloe Fresh Moisturizing Body Gel glides onto skin for a sheer burst of hydration. The light aloe vera formula conditions while instantly refreshing skin. It's intended for daily use all year round, but perfect for summer. I would love to have this set!

I'm sweetening the prize with Benefit's Stay Put Set, three must-have eye products for any time of year, but perfect for days when you want melt-proof eyes. There's Stay Don't Stray, a stay-put primer for concealers and eye shadows; Erase Paste, a brightening camouflage for eyes and face; and Benefit's creaseless cream shadow/liner in the shade R.S.V.P.

Win this contest, and the rest of the summer should be a breeze! You'll be looking good and feeling good. How can you enter? Just leave a comment here once. It's that easy. You don't have to subscribe to the blog (if you do, though, you will be eligible for the follower giveaway that starts this week) or retweet the contest - although I would love that!

After you comment, feel free to e-mail bestthingsinbeautycontests@gmail.com and identify your comment. You can never be too careful about sharing your e-mail address on a blog, so I would follow this second step if I were you (an alternative is to code your e-mail, e.g., myname at gmail dot com, in your comment).

The contest is open to residents of the United States only this time. The deadline for entries will be Saturday, July 17, at midnight. The next morning, I will use a random number generator (random.org) to select the winner. I will e-mail the winner at that time. The winner will have 48 hours to reply to my message and provide a shipping address. After 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited, and another winner will be selected.

I will post this contest at Free!Grechen, my favorite giveaway site on the Web. If you like giveaway contests, you will love Free!Grechen.

Good Luck!

My thanks to Vaseline - this is a perfect summertime prize!
