The Friday Forum - August 22

Catawba is one of my favorite crepe myrtles. Mine is huge now. It's an upright, small tree that has grown to a mature height of 15 feet tall and wide; it has deep purple blooms and orange-red fall foliage. I love my tree.

Today is the Friday Forum, but I don't have time to give you much of an introduction. I didn't want to skip it, though, because it's your opportunity to share!

I love this part of our week. What new products did you discover this week? Did you find any deals you couldn't resist? Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Do you have a question others might be able to answer? Want to talk about skin care? What's new in your life? Just use the comments. Don't be shy. Just make sure to ask any question you might have over the weekend. By early the next week, most (not all) readers will have moved on.

Don't forget to enter one or both of the two giveaway contests here: TATCHA and Rouge Bunny Rouge.  Just scroll down to find them.

Happy weekend!

I love the Chanel eye liner that comes with the new quads in the color Marron Glace. It goes on very smoothly and has a great chameleon like color. I have many of the same kinds of Chanel liners but some are hard and difficult to put on. This one I highly recommend.
Have a great weekend.

I finally took the hour drive to my nearest Chanel counter and picked up Tisse Vendome. The SA applied it and I said "Yes, I'll take it!". I'm delighted with it. I also stopped at the MAC counter and picked a new eyeshadow quad "Amorous Adventure" from their latest collection, whose name escapes me, but has something to do with Romance. Happy that the weekend is here and hope everyone is able to relax and enjoy it.

I just got today Dior new eyeshadow #056 Bar and Matching lipstick #317 Bar . It is great. Dior really improved their eyeshadow quality a lot and lipstick feels so hydrating on my lips. Strongly recommend to check them out. Have a wonderful weekend CG and looking forward to see your TF swatches and to know your opinion about his fall collection...a little bit of the topic.. My 3 year old just drank from my cats water ball today. That was a bit crazy to see. I gave her some colloidal silver right away, immune busting herbs for kids and Bio-K yogurt later. After I stopped by Whole Foods. Wow, that was a bit crazy and stressful to observe. Just wanted to get it off my chest...still in shock

I'm roaring (sorry). The cat water bowl was probably fine, unless your cat goes outside and has mouse breath. :)

Tanja, I love the new Chanel liners. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Grlnxdor,

I looked at those MAC palettes, but none of them screamed buy me. I'm getting jaded. Chanel, on the other hand...

I finally bought a tube of Guerlain Rouge Automatique Tonka Imperiale lipstick. I've been obsessed with it and testing it out every time I passed a Guerlain counter.

Nothing much new for me. I did pick up YSL's Volupté Sheer Candy in Fraise Ganache. It is a lovely, shimmery, strawberry color that makes my lips look and feel soft and smooth. And, of course, being a Candy, it is transparent which makes it a great swipe and go color on my rose toned lips. I know the Candy formulation is one of those love it or leave it propositions, but I'm firmly in the camp that loves it.

Hi Tanja,

Isn't that Marron Glacé wonderful? I also noticed how smooth and effortlessly it applied. It's definitely one of Chanel's better ones and it seems to compliment so many of the new quads.

Hi Grinxdor,

Of all the Chanel quads I purchased, I reach for Vendôme the most often. The pop of peach really sets it apart and adds interest to an otherwise neutral set of colors. As for Amorous Adventure, that is such a pretty set of autumn colors. It sounds like you're getting set for cooler weather :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Happy weekend to you too. I haven't bought anything in ages but I need a little distraction and I've decided to buy myself a highly pigmented lipgloss or a lipstick. I"m going to look through your articles for this week and see if I am inspired. Thank you for your blog, friend <3

S, get Chantecaille Mulberry. Wonderful!

I second your recommendation for Cantecaille Mulberry CG, it is gorgeous and pigmented. If you want a lot of variety the new LMdB lip kaleidoscope in Gemini Kiss is beautiful too. I am a sucker for LMdB lip crèmes and this K has some of the prettiest ones they have ever formulated. I was going to pass this one by but I stopped at the counter when I was a NM today and I just had to have it. Also picked up JinSoon's new nail polish in Heirloom at SpaceNK. It is such a pretty turquoise. I can't wait to get my nails done tomorrow.

Eileen, I need to check out these YSL sheer candy lipsticks. So intrigued by what I've been reading. Totally agree on Chanel Vendôme. It is beautiful.
Warmly,
Tanja

I got Dior Bar lipstick too; it's not a remarkable shade but wearable and I find the formula very comforting - moist but not too slippy; creamy but not cloying. I was less impressed with the eye palettes - I actually think their formula has gone down hill with the latest releases, nowhere near as buttery and pigmented as in the past. I'm a fan of the Chanel stylos yeux so will be on the look out for Marron Glace.

Well, I'm glad to have finally caught the Friday Forum this week, as I have been wanting to post the last two weeks (probably even longer), but my weekends seem to have gotten away from me. :-) Forgive me if someone has already mentioned this, I haven't read every comment or posting, but I had wondered why Smashbox seemed to have disappeared from QVC's lineup (which I thought was strange, given how popular the brand was there), and I finally discovered where it landed, HSN! I haven't seen any of the new Smashbox shows on HSN, as I'm not as big of a fan of their beauty shows as I am QVCs, but it will be interesting to see how they fare on the new network (and will be curious to see if Holly Mordini still does the shows/demos). Last I checked, they didn't have much depth to their product line-up, but that may be because it was only recently introduced. Should be interesting to see what happens :-)

Hi Eileen,

I'm glad I made a wise choice with Vendome. Every store I entered on Friday had high pressure SA's , but the one at the Chanel counter at Macy's was sweet. And yes, I should be set for Fall with An Amorous Adventure. The geese have been flying overhead for 3 weeks now, so we are in for an early Fall here in the Midwest.

I received my Nude Dip palette yesterday and am completely wowed by it. It's so incredibly soft, richly pigmented, and has a pearl like luster that is simply stunning. I removed my makeup and reapplied using Nude Dip as soon as it arrived :-) It blends like a dream and it lasted all day and into the evening without using a primer. Those of you of a certain age (ahem!), you'll probably want to use a neutral matte shade to ground the palette but that's not a big deal as I assume most of us already know that trick and have some basic mattes in our stash. Although the color scheme is not particularly unique and can be easily approximated with other products, the depth and sheen of the colors most definitely can not. And the texture is to die for! For those of us who relish the sensual aspect of applying makeup, it's quite a treat. By the way, the promo picture and Temptalia's eye look do not begin to do justice to this gorgeous palette. In person, the colors have more dimension. Another big "Bravo!" to Tom Ford.

Eileen, I am really annoyed that my NM still doesn't have it in stock. Just the tester. Where did you get yours? I am about to order another!

Hi Charlestongirl,

I called and ordered mine from Neiman's in San Francisoco. They were much more helpful than they were at the Neiman's in Beverly Hills.
