Giorgio Armani Beauty Gloss d'Armani - Part 2

You knew I would buy more shades of Giorgio Armani Beauty's new Gloss d'Armani ($28), right? It didn't take me long. They arrived at Neiman Marcus on Friday, and aside from the "pastel tangerine" one I referenced Wednesday in "Part 1," I gave Kathy Shoreman, my fantastic sales associate, the go-ahead to select three more for me.

To recap, Gloss d'Armani is Giorgio Armani Beauty's newest lip gloss. Armani's exclusive Color-Fil Shine technology allows the texture of Gloss d’Armani to be compared to a weave that gently and lastingly adorns the lips. The secret ingredient, the Color Bond Polymer already found at the heart of Rouge d’Armani, has the ability to form a supple mesh that traps pigments and pearlescent particles. Thanks to its translucent formula base, the texture gives "full expression" to color.

Mirror oils (I have no idea what they are) increase its shine, while silicon oil leaves it silky-smooth and non-sticky. The comfortable, stay-fast color is like a second skin. The company says remains true for eight hours without fading or migrating. I don't get eight hours out of any lip product, but I get two to three from these, depending on what I'm doing.

On my first round of purchases at Saks, I bought Beige #100, Pink #501, Plum #600, and Plum #601. Yesterday, I picked up the shades shown at the top of this feature. Here they are, from left to right in that photo.
  • Beige #103
  • Rouge #403
  • Pink #503
  • Pink #504
The outdoor light was not ideal for my swatch photos this morning. The sun kept peeking behind the clouds and varied in intensity while I was taking pictures. The newest "batch" of Gloss d'Armani is shown on my arm in the same order, top to bottom, listed in the bullets above.

Beige #103 has much more color than Beige #100 (pop over to this link for the swatch photo from earlier in the week). It's a pretty nude with a hint of peach. The shade I call pastel tangerine, Rouge #403, is exquisite. The glimmering color will make you look snazzy. It's not as tangerine on my lips as it looks on my arm. Pink lips plus Rouge #403 = the perfect shade for summer.

Pink #503 is a pretty medium-toned pink-rose shade. Pink #504 is very light, but makes its presence known with a remarkable gleam. It will make a great topper for many different lip shades. You can see how different these two pinks are in the two shades at the bottom of my arm.

Gloss d'Armani has no discernible fragrance or flavor. It feels great on the lips. I can feel the gloss when I wear it, but it's not tacky, sticky, or heavy. I'm smitten. What more can I say? These new lip glosses make me happy. I've always been a Giorgio Armani Beauty groupie. Nothing changed with the launch of Gloss d'Armani.

With 18 shades, you are bound to find a few that compel you to pull out your wallet. They are available at Neiman Marcus and Saks.

I am in so much trouble with these! I already resisted ordering any other glosses on my order this morning in anticipation of these hopefully arriving online soon!

I'd day you're in trouble, PerilouslyPale! :) Did you order enough of these?

Can't wait to see these in person. My one concern is that they might be a bit sheer for my lips... But I have a feeling that at least one will follow me home...

Have fun!

Hi Flora_Mundi,

You will love the plums and more pigmented rouge shades. Lots of pigment! There's something for everyone in this collection. :)

Beige 103 looks particularly lovely on you. Ooooh, I can picture it now with NARS Laguna. When you have a moment, please try them together and let us know how that works!

I love it when you introduce me to something that I just HAVE to have!! This seems like the next "must" for me, in #403 and #503. It's LOVE!! (or lust, more accurately!)

Well, I went to the Armani counter with visions of sugarplums dancing in my head and came away with RED instead! Armani Red #400 to be specific. Just in case some of you are wondering what on earth caused me to buy red when summer is now upon us, all I can say in my defense is that it is classic Armani and will look killer with a polished, neutral make-up and hair pulled back to show off cheekbones. It's translucent "patent leather" gleam grabbed my attention and made my rather thin lips look surprisingly full. That must be the color-fil technology. I'm sure the color pearls do a lot to diffuse light and make the lips look smooth. In any event, the lines just seemed to disappear. In deference to summertime, I also picked up the soft tangerine cream #403 (gorgeous and my favorite) and the warm pink #503. I can't say anything special
regarding the color of #503 other than its effortless, casual beauty is sure to make it a favorite in the long run. As for the lush, jammy plum shades I was originally thinking about, I guess I was just too bedazzled by the Armani Red to bother trying them. Oh well, that will be for another day because they really do look beautiful in the tube :-)

That did it, Eileen! :) Now i have to go see the red one.

Why not? With that recommendation, I must try the color I've grown to avoid.

Hi Charlestongirl,

I know what you mean about avoiding red. As a young woman I had light skin; dark green eyes; black brows, lashes, and hair--and there wasn't a red on the planet I didn't love. As my lips have thinned and some vertical lines have taken up permanent residence; however, I find myself preferring light to med-toned colors. Every now and then, though, a translucent red will come along that makes my heart skip a beat. #400 was just such a red. It's a beautiful, neutral red that is neither too warm nor too cool in tone. And, because it's a gloss, it has that all important transparency and delicacy. I think it will look chic with the type of sleek lines that Armani and Max Mara favor.

You're making me want it, Eileen. To think - I was just at Neiman Marcus, and I was so focused on Chntecaille, I forgot to look. Calling for it now.

I think you and I have the same tastes in colors, so...

Maybe it's a good thing that there isn't an Armani counter here in Charlotte (yet)! These all look so pretty.
