You asked for a photo of Charlie. I promised one. Here is my darling jungle boy!
You have no idea how hard it is to get a portrait of Charlie. My not-so-little buddy is often in constant motion. I took these two photos in the dimming light of dusk on the screened porch this evening.
Charlie is a snow marble Bengal - a cat with more personality than you can imagine. Bengals are very "dog-like." They follow you around, come when called, and talk a lot. They love to walk on a leash. Charlie even plays fetch, just like a dog. The photo of Charlie with his mouth open is a normal occurrence. He holds conversations and responds verbally with an extensive vocabulary of words and sounds.
Bengals are muscular, acrobatic, and energetic cats. They are confident (hence Savannah's annoyance with him), curious, and love to run and climb. They can destroy Steuben glass candlesticks with ease. They also love water. Charlie likes to sit on the tub when I bathe or shower.
Bengals crave attention. Unless Charlie is enjoying his porch time, he will always choose to be with me, moving from room to room as I do. If Charlie wants to be pet, he uses his paw to guide my hand to his head. He's quite a character - my best friend.
Don't you think he belongs on a beauty blog?

What a beauty he is! And such a character, too. It sounds like he's good company. I've always thought it wonderful that some animals are able to be so interactive with their human pets. :-)
Aaaawwww - - how beautifully regal and handsome!!! Worth the wait!
Your description reminds me of my Abyssinian, Pasha, who I had for only 3+ years. Once, in an elevator in a five-star hotel, she charmed Kareem Abdul Jabar into inquiring about her - - her 15 minutes of fame! And my Poppy is very dog-like, too. I trained her to "give me four" and she performed in her younger years, jumping from stand-still to over five feet to retrieve a shoelace caught on my nubby ceiling - - a Christmas spectacular for my family! She is also a talker and hand-guider, especially when she spies cheese or marshmallows in my hand. Ok, I've got to stop now!
On the beauty side, glad you share my opinion of "pistache" - - it was so awful that it made me crave "fresh". I also remembered the subtle peony scent of L'Occitane's cosmetics and ordered some of them. And I had gotten the new Tarte matte stain Friday morning - - will try it tomorrow.
Can hardly wait 'til Thursday for my two-and-a-half-hour trip to Neiman Marcus!!
Take care!
Hey friends,
Charlie is good company. Eileen, I love the way you phrased "their human pets." Charlie definitely chose me. When I went to look at his family, the girls were all screaming or went and hid. Mom took off to comfort the hiding kitten. Charlie was ready to roll, instantly seizing on a ball game. He was "mine."
Leigh, Pasha sounds like a gem. I have always wanted an Abyssinian and have thought of adopting one for Charlie. I think he might meet his match (so to speak, since he is incapable of having children).
Never had a hand guider before Charlie. Interesting too that he's left handed.
I went to purchase the L'Occitane cosmetics when I got the card in the mail. Made a special trip to the mall and learned that they would arrive the next day. I was so annoyed I never went back! Let us know what you like.
Neiman Marcus will be on everyone's trip list this week, with beauty week coming up. I have a free Sisley facial and a Bobbi Brown artist on my to-do list. :)
Oh, now we're addicted! You'll have to post more photos of beautiful Charlie!
That's so cute, Ava! I'm addicted to him, but I wasn't expecting such love from all of you. :)
Right now, he's resting on the bed. I ran into the next room to check the blog, and he's expecting me to re-join him. Think I will! And I'll tell him - once again - that he's a superstar.
He is beautiful!! What a handsome little man! I love his coloring. My Boston Terrier would love him:) She had a cat friend for awhile at our old house. It was the cutest friendship, they would nuzzle each other and it was very sweet.
More pictures of the kitties when you can -- nice addition to the blog:)
Charleston sends his love, Laurie. He likes dogs. He's actually quite jealous of them. The labs across the street get to roam down to see us, and he can't go out "freely." I have always wondered what he would do if he were face to face with DJ the lab - without a screen between them. DJ likes cats, so it would be up to Charlie to decide if they could nuzzle.
Savannah is camera-shy. She is such a mess, with epilepsy and schizophrenia (rescue cat who has issues). She sleeps a lot because she has to take phenobarb to prevent seizures. She is gorgeous, though, with her pretty green eyes. I'll try to get a photo of her when she is standing over her food plate waiting for her food to magically appear.
Charlie boy is not camera-shy...if I could just make him stand still!
Oh what a beauty - his picture needs to be on the Chantecaille tiger palette!
LOL, Beauty Bug! Charlie is in the hallway talking. I think he heard you. :)
Boy, he is GORGEOUS! Now I want a Charlie too! I'd love the company and the nice long chats and walks along the beach. Such fun that I wish I had.
I can't keep pets. Due to not having anyone around the house to offer proper services. Anyway I have yet to see a Bengal in my country, small as it is. Wished I lived elsewhere. I'd love me a long-haired cutie! And a male at that! Every girls needs a man in the house!
Hi Abby!
Charlie is a short-haired cat - even though he has big ears (for acute hearing and jungle survival skills) and a long tail!
He sends his kitty love.
Charlie is just stunning - and the Bengal personality just makes him even more so. I love the inquisitiveness and outgoing personality typical of his breed.
Hi Liz!
Have you ever lived with a Bengal? He sure brightens my life! Even when he's a naughty boy. His latest bad habit is taking a spin through my closet before bed. He finally figured out how to open the door.
