Coming Attraction: Chantecaille The Wild Horses Collection for Fall 2013

Fall 2013 will embody a minimal and serene elegance through timeless iconic pieces with a sober luxury. The tone is set through materials of fur (faux, I hope), leather, cozy knits, and textural tweeds in more forgiving styles with volume, menswear influences, longer hemlines, and oversized coats. The trending colors will be warm earthy browns, rich neutrals, black, white, camel, and pops of red.

Inspired by the grounding and moody shades of nature in winter, paired with the simple sophistication of purity and strength, makeup will be a light wash of eye shadow in shades from the earth: warm browns, copper, and ash, emphasized by black eye liner. The lips create the perfect counterpoint in soft nudes or rich reds.

The Wild Horses Palette will benefit the Humane Society of the United States. Embodying the spirit of freedom, wild horses have graced the American landscape for centuries, reminding us of our deepest connection to the Earth. Sadly, in just the past 40 years, over 22 million acres of wild horse habitat has been lost in the U.S. to make room for cattle, fracking, and mining industries. By conserving land for wild horses, we not only help save countless herds, we help save our environment from the polluting extractive industries that are destroying it. Ensuring that wild horses are able to roam freely means keeping a part of our Earth untouched and unexploited.

Inspired by the magnificent beauty and free spirit of wild horses, Chantecaille has created a striking, yet natural palette that effortlessly compliments the Fall 2013 runway trends. Four shades will the refillable Wild Horses Palette ($83).
  • Black Stallion, a midnight black liner with a whisper of shimmer, inspired by the elusive Black Stallion
  • Palomino, a soft, creamy beige eye shade, inspired by the golden coats and glistening blonde manes of Palomino horses
  • Mustang, a warm chestnut brown eye shade illuminated by flecks of gold, inspired by the iconic, wild Mustangs of the West
  • Freedom, a flattering sunset pink that creates a soft, windswept-flush
Five percent of all proceeds from the palette will be donated to the Humane Society and its efforts to save wild horses.

The fall collection will also include Persimmon Hydra Chic ($34), a trendy, bold tomato red with a flattering burst of orange (sorry about the fuzzy photo). The ultra-moisturizing, botanical formula delivers up to six hours of long-wearing color with a satin smooth finish.

Natural papaya and orchid extracts help soften the lips while simultaneously providing antioxidant and anti-aging protection. Raist, a natural sugar derivative, allows the luxurious texture to melt onto lips with a comforting and hydrating sensation.

Supreme Cils Mascara ($52), Chantecaille's new smudge-proof mascara, will be resistant to water and humidity and offer serious staying power. The brush’s unique snowflake-shaped bristles are designed to grab and coat every lash with the volume enhancing formula. With a single swipe, lashes of all lengths will be thickened and separated for eye-catching fringe without any clumps. Unlike other long-wearing, water-resistant mascaras, Supreme Cils’ Rosewater-infused formula can be gently and easily removed with warm water.

Chantecaille will also be introducing Le Stylo Ultra Slim ($34), the ultimate tool for creating the expertly defined eyes seen on all Fall 2013 runways. Inspired by Chantecaille's best-selling Le Stylo, this sleeker generation’s water-resistant formula will deliver intense, saturated color to the lash line - completely effortlessly. The innovative liner’s calligraphy brush-like tip will allow for easy application with astonishing control and precision. Thick strokes taper elegantly, sculpting and defining eyes to create a range of versatile looks, from a glamorous 1960’s-style cat's eye to a simple, lash-enhancing line.

The Fall collection will be cruelty-free and paraben-free, without lanolin or any animal or mineral derivatives. It will be available in September 2013 at Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Space.NK, Frédéric Fekkai Salons, and select Nordstroms, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdale’s locations. It will also be available on Chantecaille.com.

The palette looks heavenly. Not a brand I am very familiar with. Perhaps this will be my first foray into Chantecaille?

I have the feeling that the palette is going to be the star of this collection. There doesn't seem to be that much else to go with it, though. The elephant collection last fall had so many different components, but this collection seems more streamlined. No matter, that palette is exactly the type of thing I love for a causual but refined eye look. I've actually seen a couple of pictures of the product itself and it lives up to the gorgeous promo pic. I can hardly wait to get Wild Horses and, yes, I'll be breaking my rule and ordering blind as soon as it is available :-)

The colors look really similar to the Tiger In The Wild palette from a few years ago.

Ever since you've featured it a few posts ago (with the video), I've been pretty excited for the palette. It's also great that they're helping out the humane society. As someone who's on track heading to vet school, it's nice to see this.

Hi Anonymous,

I don't think you have to worry about the two palettes being duplicates. They're both neutral and feature two shadow shades, a liner shade, and a blush, but the color story is completely different. Tigers is a silvery taupe with a black/indigo liner whereas Wild Horses is a creamy caramel with a true black liner. And, although the blush shades are very close, the one in Horses has a bit more pink. Bottom line: They're not dupes and they will create totally different effects when worn :-)

I collect Chantecaille palettes so I'll definitely be picking up the Wild Horses palette for Fall. The colors in this palette are beautiful! I'm also very curious to see how the new Stylo compares to the original.

Hi LSBD,

Definitely!

Eileen, it won't be totally blind. You've seen the photo, and you know how Chantecaille color translates "in real life." I don't think you'll be breaking your rule. :)

Anonymous,

There is some similarity, but also significant difference. Both palettes were designed to be neutral. However, these colors are different.
