Weekend Roundup - January 15

We've started the new year with a flurry of features to help you overlook the winter weather that has left 49 states with snow on the ground (somewhere) - or deal with it. Take a spin with us and dream of snow angels or warmer days ahead. Your choice!

Guerlain has introduced an irresistible collection for Spring 2011. The centerpiece of the collection is Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Rue de Rivoli. You will want to read Amy's thorough feature on the beautiful palette at Café Makeup. Her swatch photos were much better than mine, which you can see here.

I was equally smitten with Guerlain's Sur mes Levres Collection for spring. Scroll down on click on this Best Things in Beauty link to see the three KissKiss Lip Glosses that are quietly earning their own share of the attention. Is there one in your future?

Smashbox in Bloom will make you dream of a winter getaway. Kelly gave us the 411 on the collection at Gouldylox Reviews, where you can see tropical bright cheeks and lips grounded by earth-toned eyes.

Laurie shared a close-up of the new NARS Spring 2011 Collection at Product Girl. There are beautiful options for the eyes and lips that should summon spring flowers to your imagination. I'm looking forward to trying a few pieces - they look very pretty.

Gaia found a stunning lipstick. Check out The Non-Blonde to discover Hourglass Cosmetics Femme Rouge Lipstick in Nocturnal. It's a perfect shade for any season. She's loving it now. Given her swatches, I may be loving it soon!

Armani Beauty foundations are touted by makeup artists as some of the best in the business, and there's one for every skin type. Kari from Fab over Forty gave us her point of view on these popular foundations. I love her choice - of the foundations Armani still makes - but I'm glad I still have my discontinued Hydra Glow!

Sabrina discovered the elegance and magic of Tocca's lovely Bianca Eau de Parfum. Take a trip with her to tea time in Italy at The Beauty Look Book. I was captured by this fragrance too. You can read my review at this link.

Debbi had a perfect solution for a snow day. Find out at DivaDebbi how Amica's Obliphica Oil and Sea Buckthorn Berry will help you fight the winter dry hair blues.

Despite our longing for spring, we are still facing at least six more weeks of winter. After surgery, I've got alligator skin on my legs! Jennifer showed us how Neutrogena's Winter Skincare line will help us banish dry skin at BeautyXposé.

Jane also shared beautiful tricks for soft, moisturized skin during harsh, dry weather. Find out about her favorite exfoliators at Daly Beauty.

Tonight is the deadline for the Tarte Good as Gold Lipgloss Gift Set giveaway contest. Make sure to enter before midnight.

Enjoy the weekend! Hope we all get a thaw!

Thank you, missblissindc! That's so sweet. Hope you enjoy this long weekend. Let's hope we don't see that wintry mix the weather guys are talking about for Monday late.

Thanks for the roundup: the reviews make us dream of Spring and sunny days (I do love the photo of the snow angel though.)
As we haven't seen snow for 15 days here I was not aware so many States in the USA had to cope with it...while Eileen and Saint Jean are blessed with glorious sunshine (so lucky)!!!Though I know your recovery is slow progress I hope you are feeling a little better every day:-)

Hi Clarisse!

I think I feel better every few days. It is slow, but steady, progress.

It's hard to believe so many states have snow somewhere. In California, where Saint Jean and Eileen are enjoying sunny days, there is snow in the mountains. We have been lucky in the DC area. Our snows have been light when the Northeast got buried. Some areas got two feet. Even areas used to a lot of snow have experienced unusually heavy snowfall so far this winter.

I envision your French town as a warm respite from harsh weather. Silly, but my mental image of sidewalk cafes extends into winter. :)

Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend!

You are right, Charlestongirl, even in winter we have the sidewalk cafés...obviously not when it's snowing, as in last December.
But here the cafés are keeping their "terrasses" heated by electric features on the top since the smokers have to smoke outside (not allowed to smoke in the cafés any longer) so actually there are brave customers sitting outside!
We have had mild weather last week and a lovely sunny week-end but I am afraid winter is not far away...February is usually rather cold.
And I'm glad to know you feel better:-)))

February can be a brutal month here too. I always look forward to March when we see a bit of a thaw. Let's hope we don't see last February's snow - ever again!
