Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) announced the Finalists for the 2011 CEW Beauty Awards, the industry’s highest honor. Now in its 17th year, the CEW Beauty Awards celebrate the most innovative products of the year. The finalists were chosen from more than 600 products from nearly 350 top brands.
The CEW Beauty Awards program is the only program in which the finalists are chosen exclusively by beauty insiders. The roster of finalists, voted on by more than 4,000 professionals in the field, has become the beauty consumers’ most coveted shopping list. “Due to the vast amount of beauty products on the market, it’s difficult for consumers to determine which products they need. Each year, CEW members select the best products from over 600 submissions,” said Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW.
The CEW Board of Governors will vote on the 139 finalists to determine the winners across 26 categories. The winners will be announced at the CEW Beauty Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 20, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. This marks the first year for the CEW Eco Beauty Award. The new award is a response to the growing importance of products’ environmental impact on the planet. The award recognizes products or product lines that have specifically moved towards the goal of sustainability. Ten finalists, from more than 40 entrants, have been vetted by the global organization, The Natural Step. A special Eco Beauty Voting Committee will vote on the winner, which will be revealed at the luncheon.
I left the men's products off this list. For the complete list of 2011 CEW Beauty Award Finalists, you can visit this link. What's cool at the finalist site: you can click on the link for each finalist and read about the product and why it's innovative.

Thanks so much for posting. I forgot to be on the lookout for the finalists already! This year is flying by.
I'm always a little nonplussed by these awards. Glad to see Chanel is receiving some praise and Darphin too (what a surprise in light of how niche they have become!), but the prestige list seems a bit Origins heavy. I would have loved to see Guerlain garner some credit for the 2nd-generation molecular extract featured in the Orchidee Imperiale cream relaunch, or even Lauder's new Age-Correcting cream. I will be looking forward to see if Philosophy and their (over-)hyped Miracle Worker win for the moisturizer category.
I have to agree on some of these, Laetitia!
Some of our faves, like Guerlain, Edward Bess, LMdB, and CdP aren't on the list. Maybe they don't get the mass attention the bigger companies get?
I would LOVE to join CEW, but I can't afford it. No company to pay my way. :)
Speaking of flying by...can you believe it's already mid-April?
You raise a great point about "mass attention." It takes a certain kind of beauty consumer (with great taste and keen interest) to champion the likes of Chantecaille's Biodynamic series, etc. I do find it interesting that Chanel's new Sublimage serum made the short-list. That is one top-tier product that has left me ambivalent.
Laetitia,
I guess Chantecaille will be our little secret - LOL! They have so many loyal fans.
I just got a few samples of the Chanel serum. Will let everyone know what I think later.
Cheers!
What surprises me most is the Scent Prestige list. Gucci?? Prestige?? Really??? Maybe I'm a scent snob :-)
Hey there, Lovethescents!
Gucci Guilty has been an enormous commercial success. It isn't "me," but I can appreciate that it has a huge audience.
I liked High Line, but a friend loved it so much, I gave her mine. Not like I "need" fragrance. I probably have enough to last the rest of my life. I still keep buying more. :)
Charlestongirl, no, we don't 'need' more fragrance, but it's part of the wardrobe, isn't it? How naked would we feel without it? Even in my flannels, in the dead of winter, I need a little spritz :-)
Re: High Line, I haven't tried it. I've become rather disenchanted with the Bond range. That being said, I do love Chinatown, and I've been lemming Eau de Noho recently. Not enough linden blossom frags out there, I think!
Did you try Zeta yet?
I'm going to sleep now, in fragrance! :)
No, I didn't! Have you? I'm a little scared of Tauer, to be honest. I love l'Air du Desert, and tiny doses of Carillon, but the rest are too 'thick' for me, if you know what I mean...
So what did you wear to sleep in? One of my faves is Sinfonia di Note's Blanc des Cotons....good night!
Hi Lovethescents!
A lot of women think Andy Tauer is too heavy for them. I have heard it often. Zeta is pretty light, though. I will review it in the next few days.
I slept in a rose-scented spray olive oil moisturizer. It was heavenly. :)
Oh, a moisturizer! Great! Which brand?
Re: Tauer, it's strange. I can do Carillon and don't get much celery or heaviness...I can also do other 'heavies' like the Elixir Charnels, but oh well!

Thank you for posting that. I have just contacted the company to see if they have stockists in my country. Fingers crossed!
Good luck! It's almost impossible to find here, and the regional distributor never answered me. Glad I stockpiled it!
Sad that WEN hair care didn't win. I recently returned my Ojon product... even while in the shower I went back to WEN and got the soft, clean, manageable hair I needed. Rescued!
