Do You Believe in Magic? No? Bobbi Brown's Retouching Powders May Change Your Mind

This season, Bobbi has reinvented the corrective powders of the past, giving them an updated look and feel for the future. Inspired by the color pigments used for years by professional makeup artists, the new Retouching Powder ($36) instantly makes your skin look better - yet it’s said to be completely undetectable. Depending on the shade you choose, you can correct color, add warmth, hide redness, or brighten dullness. It’s like having your very own magic wand.

Developed with a sheer, light-transmitting base, this innovative lightweighting powder instantly brightens and illuminates skin while reducing excess oil. Launched in six color correcting shades, Retouching Powder helps diminish the appearance of dark spots, dullness, redness, and imperfections. Two new brushes offer effortless application and customizable coverage. The result is smooth and flawless skin.

I saw the new line of powders at Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie last weekend. My eyes leapt to the little jars with their colorful contents. I had to try one immediately, so I selected Rose (shown below). It looked so pretty in the jar. It looked good on my skin too. It added warmth and a slight touch of color to my makeup-free skin that day. I could see a tiny touch of sparkle, much like the Guerlain Météorites. After talking with the Bobbi Brown rep, I understood that Bobbi recently said that no one is too old for sparkle. It's all about the way you wear it.

How do they work? Color-correcting shades help diminish the appearance of dullness, imperfections, and redness. Plant-based ingredients, Zea Mays Starch and Zinc
Stearate, and natural mineral powders help soothe and calm skin while absorbing excess surface oils to reduce shine. A sheer light-transmitting base instantly makes the skin look radiant, and it reduces the appearance of dark spots. Finely milled, super-soft powder looks almost invisible on the skin for a smooth, flawless finish.

How to apply the Retouching Powders? After applying foundation, gently sweep Retouching Powder on face using the new Sheer Powder Brush ($42) for a light application. Or use the new Full Coverage Face Brush ($42) for a heavier application to brighten, even, and correct your skin tone.

The Retouching Powders and new brushes will be available at Bobbi Brown's Web site in January. They are at the counter now - at least at Neiman Marcus. I'm going back to play to try to narrow my selection down to one. That day, I wanted five of the six!

I'm so pleased to see more about these new powders. I'm particularly interested in the yellow one for those times when my mild rosacea flairs up. I've tried green and yellow correctors in the past and was completely underwhelmed by their performance. They tend to look OK in photography, but in real life, they are a bit of a fail because they look flat.

It sounds like Bobbi's bit of shimmer in an ultra fine powder is just the thing to replicate a natural skin glow; to correct and look cosmetically elegant at the same time. I'm good at covering up the redness by applying thin layers of foundation, but it sure would be nice to have something to carry around for touch-ups for those times when I'm out and about all day. I'll definitely have to go take a look after the holidays.

Hi Eileen,

I tried the rose and loved it. I wanted to try the yellow, but could only apply one at a time. I think you will like them. I am going back after Christmas to buy.

BTW, the dermatologist recommended some green fluid for me once. Worked fine. I wish I could remember what it was.

Merry Christmas! Hope for me to get a new consulting job. I need money for makeup. LOL

Thanks, sweetie.

Hey there, Chris,

The powder lasted very well on me. I had on moisturizer, but nothing else (no concealer, foundation).

These look fantastic, would love to have the opportunity to try them and make a selection. I have seen corrective color products that work and those that dont. Also the application process can be quite difficult with some products. Sounds like these are just the thing. Isnt that what we all want, beautiful skin enhanced by cosmetics and retaining a natural look? Get that right and anything else is window dressing. Gets a bit more challenging with age. Love to see advancements that make it easier and attainable for all women(people) not just the celebrities!! Thanks so much for showing this, Im really loving your content, style everything! thanks and Merry Christmas from the north pole!!

This is when I really miss working for Bobbi: New Product releases and getting to test them out in school. This looks like a rework of the previous "Face Powders" and I am totally on board!! (yellow to counteract all of my redness!)
